TheMightyEthan Posted November 23, 2023 Report Share Posted November 23, 2023 I do (did), and it's probably not, but my biggest gripe with the Steam Deck is the low-quality LCD, so this high quality 1000 nit HDR OLED is very appealing. Originally I was going to wait for a true successor, but there were a series of things that pushed me closer to caving. First was just the fact that it was OLED, second was finding out it was HDR, then finding out it had better battery life, then Digital Foundry's testing indicating that it's about 8% faster than the original Steam Deck, and finally the thing that pushed me over the edge was finding out on Monday that the Limited Edition of the OLED Deck was still in stock. I was able to sell my old Deck on FB Marketplace at least, so that's enough to cover about 60% of the cost of the new one. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

toxicitizen Posted December 24, 2023 Report Share Posted December 24, 2023 I had been thinking about this for a few months now and this week I found out I'm getting a pretty nice bonus from work, so I decided to treat myself. I would've liked an actual Hitbox but they're currently out of stock so I wouldn't have gotten it until January at best, and I was worried the currency conversion and custom fees would drive the price up too much. This was the only model I could find on short notice that was directly available in Canada and since it was on Amazon I get 1-day shipping. Which means I'm getting it today and can spend the holidays playing with it. I had sworn off Razer years ago after my Deathadder mouse started going to shit after only like two years but the reception of this one (and some of their previous fight sticks) seem pretty good, so hopefully I have nothing to worry about. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What Jack said, plus on this you can do something that's physically impossible on a stick: input opposing directions at the same time. This can be very useful with charge characters or when you start using input shortcuts. It'll be months before I can see any of the advantages that come from using this, though. I need to rebuild my entire muscle memory first. I can barely land my bread and butter combos right now or like... jump on reaction lol. I'm shocked that I was actually able to win online matches day one, though. Casual matches against lower ranked players but still! I think some of them may have been super confused, though. Debated between this one and Origin, but this one actually continues the story, while Origin is a remake of the first two games, that made the choice easier lol, supposedly, the Z series has more technical combat than previous entries, let's see if that's true. It's batshit insane. Spoiler I think I messed up a early mission - ended up dashing through a bunch of tar with a black squid antagonising me after I'd incinerated my mum/president. But didn't seem to be any negative impact to just running through BTs despite earlier build up of them.
