Strangelove
I dont think spiderman needed the dark and gritty treatment. Thats kind of whats cool about spiderman. I dont wanna judge too soon, but from the screenshot it doesnt look like its going to have the charm and humor of....spiderman. plus, i always liked mcguire as spiderman. I thought he was perfectly cast. this guy lacks nerdiness.
Mister Jack
I said it on the other forum and I'll say it again here. Twilight: Marvel.
TheForgetfulBrain
I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. I never really liked Raimi's Spidey that much and didn't watch the third one, but I heard it was absolute balls. Andrew Garfield was amazing in Never Let Me Go and (500) Days of Summer was a great film. I think it definitely has some interesting components, just remains to be seen if they come together. Hot Heart
I never really liked Raimi's Spidey that much and didn't watch the third one, but I heard it was absolute balls. I'll admit it, the third was actually my favourite. Not that it was a great film by any means, but it was a 'fun' watch. I felt the others took themselves too seriously and never quite worked, although they had their moments. Kinda like the X-Men films... Akuam4n
Looks hot. I even liked SM3. They ruined it however, Rami should have said fuck you to the fans, and kept out Venom, or have taken out Sandman, and have it be about Venom, Carnage, and Harry. They nailed the Harry part, I thought.
Baconrath
So are they picking up where the third movie left off or is this going to be Spiderman: Origin Story Redux?
TheForgetfulBrain
is this going to be Spiderman: Origin Story Redux? It will be that. I think it's set in high school or something.
deanb
Origin Story all over again I think. Got the blonde one instead of MJ this time around. whatsherface.

Dee
Dayum. He's skinnier than me. I'll reserve my judgment until later.
staySICK
I'm not really like what I'm seeing thus far. I like that they are going back to high school and setting it with Gwen. On paper it almost sounds like a movie live action version of the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon that was fan-freaking-tastic. If you haven't seen it, rectify that asap. But the casting and images seen so far... meh. The only thing I know Andrew Garfield from is The Social Network.
TheForgetfulBrain
The only thing I know Andrew Garfield from is The Social Network. As soon as Never Let Me Go hits DVD, rent it. He's a foil to Carey Mulligan, and that's saying a lot.
staySICK
I've been meaning to see 500 days of summer. I really like Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Showmeyomoves!
I kinda like it. Looks less campy than the first three movies. On the other hand, it also looks more emo. Also: We have a thread for this! Edited January 14, 2011 by Showmeyomoves!
deanb
Actually this is fine on it's own. It's gonna create a fair bit of discussion and it'd be like making a RPG thread n expecting all RPG games discussion to go in it. Ones for comic stuff in general, but this can stick here. Especially as more news n trailers n eventually a release crops up.
Cyber Rat
Man, comic book Spider-Man wasn't angsty even when he was a flesh-eating zombie who devoured half the world population, starting with Mary Jane and Aunt May. Why does he have to be angsty in the movie?
Thursday Next
Why is his mask even off for that matter. Yes I know the film studio spent loads of money getting this fellow to be spidey and all that, but really, you don't see Bale strutting about with his suit on and cowl off now do you?
Cyber Rat
I'm guessing it's just a promo picture used to emphasize how he's struggling between his own identity, Spider-Man and High school. Doubt it's a "real" scene.
Thursday Next
It's not a "scene" photo it's an "angsty" one! Do we know who the baddies are in this one then?
deanb
The Lizard I think. Which I think is good cos it was teased so much in the Raimi ones.
Cyber Rat
It's not a "scene" photo it's an "angsty" one! Meant "doubt it's a real scene" as in real movie scene, not the emo-ish subculture. Edited January 14, 2011 by Cyber Rat
Thursday Next
I know. I was being "real" facetious. I always liked the Lizard in the cartoons. The doctor who was working on regeneration yes?
Cyber Rat
Yea. He lost his arm in whatever war was popular at that time. WW2, Vietnam, Kosovo... I think they'll probably use Iraq as an excuse this time. Edited January 14, 2011 by Cyber Rat
