SeniorPuffyPants
Anyone Played them? I played LoL and reached lv 30 and now starting playing ranked games I played HoN, Like the game cuz it was more Competitve then LoL, But it was really hard to see my what was going on and it felt like the fog of war is not dark enough to tell me if its fog or not. I never actually played The Real Dota since i never owned a copy of warcraft. Apparently I hear a new dota clone out now called "Bloodlines" Anyone tried that one yet? Akuam4n
I made a thread on it, and it's not like DoTa, fun however. I don't like dota, or HoN, or LoL. Most of the players I run into on any of them are usually way too serious. Like, seriously. I think everone who has been paired with me today has raged because I have no idea wtf I am doing in Bloodlines; I mean, really. It just released to the public today. SeniorPuffyPants
actually forget what i said about blood lines being a dota clone, its more of like Lost Saga
Mr. GOH!
I played some Dota back in the day but was turned off of it by the community. Those people were fucking mean.
Commander Shepard
It's a shame communities can ruin games/mods of games.
Vintage
the only DOTA im gonna pick up is the one valve is making, the other ones can go fuck off. Sage
I played DotA back when the summoner existed with his OP early game before he was finally just removed from the game due to being impossible to balance. Actually, I could probably take my old laptop harddrive and pull off an old version of DotA where he is still in it....assuming I can find my old laptop. And -ar only!!! ceedee
I love DOTA. I played the WC3 edition for years, moved on to HoN and then LoL. Can't wait to dominate in DOTA 2. But god damn DOTA sucks when your teammates are clueless.
Vargras
FYI, one of the new Starcraft 2 gametypes is DotA.
Commander Shepard
FYI, one of the new Starcraft 2 gametypes is DotA. Outstanding. Suddenly, I'm reminded of the all the weird and interesting Use-Map-Settings games in the first Starcraft, from all the turret defense games to the Resident Evil Raccoon City scenario. Vargras
FYI, one of the new Starcraft 2 gametypes is DotA. Outstanding. Suddenly, I'm reminded of the all the weird and interesting Use-Map-Settings games in the first Starcraft, from all the turret defense games to the Resident Evil Raccoon City scenario. There's quite a few game types that got listed. They haven't been released yet, though. Left 2 Die - Basically a multiplayer version of the Outbreak mission from the campaign. Defend against zombies. Aiur Chef - Players run around the map and kill stuff to get ingredients for recipes. Certain recipes are worth more points, most points at the end of the round wins. DotA - Basically DotA, but with a Starcraft twist. I think Muradin has a mech suit, for example. Starjeweled - I forget the exact name of this one, but it's basically Starcraft + Bejeweled. Gem matches give you points, which you spend on units, which then fight the other guy's units until you win.
Pirandello
Resident Evil Raccoon City scenario. I loved that in the first Starcraft, was so addicted that I never stopped playing it. There is a newer iteration in SC2, but I didn't like it as much as the original one.
mergedwarrior
I played and still play a ton of DoTA. I've played both HoN and LoL, but I find that HoN is heavily imbalanced. LoL is alright up until you find the highly broken rune system. DoTA2 ftw.
Vargras
Well shit. Blizz apparently pushed out 3 of the 4 new game types already - Aiur Chef, Starjeweled, and Left 2 Die. They can only be played on specific maps right now, DotA is the only one still unreleased. NNGGGHHH I NEED SOMEONE TO PLAY SC2 WITH.
Johnny
There is actually a pretty good, objective video explaining the differences between LoL and HoN It's slightly out of date; it mentions the revamped Heroes of Newerth team matchmaking, but because the author hadn't had the time to try it out before the video was made, he hardly mentions it. After having used it I can say it works great. Personally I vastly prefer Heroes of Newerth. I wrote a review on it over here. EDIT: @mergedwarrior: HoN is no more imbalanced than DotA. Both of them have that problem. Edited January 28, 2011 by Johnny
Keywork
Watched the whole first match this morning and dozed afterwards, Was amazing! Pretty hyped up now
deanb
I don't really keep up with Blizzcon so this is news to me. Seems a bit crap (trailer in general) and really badly timed, cos they're gonna be putting out DOTA after DOTA 2. It is a bad foreboding for Titan cos it screams that Blizzard really haven't a clue about the market. Of all the studios making a proper DOTA game they should have been first, not sixth or whatever. (then again just done some maths and until Titan/dota hits Blizzard will have been coasting off the same IP for 14+ years)
Johnny
Blizzard DotA is just an official custom map for StarCraft 2 like Aiur Chef and Starjeweled. It was announced at last year's blizzcon, and is not a big project or anything that's going to be sold separately.
deanb
Well that really sucks then. Also pro-tip for Blizzard would be to not make a trailer and avoid mentioning that it requires purchase of SC2.
Johnny
Eh. What'd suck was if they wasted significant development time on trying to create a commecial dota clone at this point. I'd rather they focus on making the first SC2 expansion awesome. In completely different news, I just learned I'll be recieving a Dota 2 beta key at the start of november. :

Johnny
Yeah, from some swedish site. I'd nab a few to give to other people on here, but I don't think I can find a way to cheat their system.
VicariousShaner
Yeah, from some swedish site. I'd nab a few to give to other people on here, but I don't think I can find a way to cheat their system. We could use Google Translate, which as you know is completely fullproof, to disguise ourselves as Swedish to slowly rise through their ranks and make off will hundreds of priceless keys. Eller jag kunde vänta på att hela spelet att komma ut, antar jag.
