I converted and tagged from a high-quality .wav file I got from here -- http://www.mediafire.com/?mgme66s119nu5e5

And yeah, Youtube generally rapes audio on videos that only go up to 360p or 480p; if you ever want some help finding music just give me a shout, I've spent the better 8 years of my life being a music-hunter XD

Next time I need some music, be prepared for me to completely abuse that generous offer. :P

Had to turn off when they started talking about the coop, but it was really interesting up until then.

I really wish they'd included the moon easter egg, complete with the fake song.

The way they talked about the elevators, and specifically clarified that the different design wasn't indicative of a large time period between Portal and Portal 2 sounds a bit like they are planning to expand more on the story/history of Aperture, which could mean more Portal 2 content, Portal 3 or Ep 3/Half Life 3. That's just me reading into it though, they seemed a little less specific on that than other stuff.

Portal 2-related surprise being deployed tonight?

"The memo also references Pneumatic Diversity Tubes, which were shown off in pre-release videos and didn't make it into the game at launch."

Did anything come of this?

I put some of my favorite quotes from the game below, assembled from my memory and a few websites. Man, looking back this game was hilarious.

so I know I'm late to the party, but I just got my copy via Gamefly.

Am I mistaken, or is this game way better looking than previous Valve titles?

Source was the shiznit back in 2004, but ever since I've found it pretty tame. But I've been frequently impressed by Portal 2's graphics. How were they able to make them so much better?

It's not just you, it looks WAY better. And if you got it through Gamefly that means you're not even on PC with antialiasing and stuff, where it's seriously the first game I've seen that is capable of looking as good as the pre-rendered-but-in-engine video they often use for "gameplay" trailers.

As for how they made it look so much better, I'm not sure. I know Left 4 Dead 2 looks a whole hell of a lot better than L4D1 did though, so I think they've been continuing to tweak the Source engine.

The Source engine was designed from the ground up to be modular, meaning they can replace individual elements as they begin to age. Compare early 2003 HL2 screenshots to Portal 2 and you'll see what I mean. That being said, I think we'll see a major overhaul before HL3. (So pre-2016)

Edit: Comparison below. I'd also like to add that Source engine games tend to be understated, going for muted colors and higher-res textures rather than overdoing effects like bloom and lens flares, etc.

That's cos HL2 was made with the Source Engine. Portal 2 was made with the Source 2011 Engine. TF2 with the Source 2007 engine. And so on and so on. (most notable non-game update was Source 2010, released alongside Steam 2010. Added Mac OSX compatibility for both) They all get the updates(you ever noticed how once you have one Source engine game, the rest all seem to start their download at about 40% complete?), just it'll improve minor things like speed n such on older titles, whereas with titles actually made with the new engine in mind they can add things like the improved lighting, particle effects, and primarily in Portal 2's case, fluid simulation.
