Final Boss Battle

You storm into my castle, slay my servants, steal my riches and wreak havoc to my chambers? For what purpose? You want to be heroes? You assume that by conquering various challenges you set forth in your minds that the world will celebrate you for the rest of eternity? That evil would be vanquished? They will forget you before your puny lifespans end. And if I, who has kept even greater evils and chaos at bay by merely existing falls, the world will plunge into chaos until it produces true heroes, someone who has seen what true suffering looks like. Someone who has to fight for their freedom. You are not heroes, you are shortsighted fools calling forth the greatest tragedy of humanity.

Minions;

Castle;

Castle after entering the "ultimate form", a taunting monologue echoing while the heroes walk through the ruins to reach me once more;

First form music;

.

Attire. The first form slowly stands up from the throne and walks towards the heroes as waves and waves of minions are dispatched (of course, from behind the throne, running past me). The first fight is moderately difficult (or easy if the heroes have found the super secret weapon by killing the only entity in the game world stronger than me). The attacks are various sword swings of different range and damage.

The ultimate form is the same in looks, but I fight with my bare fists which are, of course, far more lethal than a magic sword. The two most recognizable moves are walking with arms wide open and laughing. If I am attacked then, I teleport behind or to the side of the hero who attacked me and punch him/her in the face (very hard). If I am not attacked, I merely punch the hero from the front when I reach him. The second move is

grabbing the character by the throat (short range, fast attack), jumping in the air while still holding them and then ramming my victim into the ground.

Dying quote: "Enjoy your short-lived fame and 'hard earned freedom'. I only regret not being able to destroy you, because the blood of everyone you have doomed will be on my hands."

As the hero enters my throne room (a very long hall which ends with a large open area, in the middle of which is my thrown, raised up and surrounded by steps) I would be sat in my throne, arms resting lightly on the arm rests with my eyes closed. Without anyone saying a word (maybe the hero attempts some posturing bravado here) every remaining soldier and minion under my command (including the wounded survivors from previous encounters with the hero) would pour out of hidden alcoves all along the hallway and form ranks between me and the hero.

When, or should I say if, the hero makes it through my loyal army and approaches my throne I would at this point calmly open my eyes, fix the hero with a penetrating gaze, and, standing up gracefully and with complete economy of movement, I would draw my sword (a simple katana methinks).

I would not directly attack the hero, but rather I would avoid his attacks, only parrying when absolutely necessary and only ever counter-attacking from a parry, never directly attacking. The only way to defeat me is to keep up an extended flurry of perfectly timed attacks, until my guard slips and I let a single blow through. This one hit is enough to defeat me.

My last action would be to look the hero directly in the eyes (whilst still standing), a wry smile on my lips. Then I would die. The camera would cut to the hero's face, which would show no satisfaction at my death, then slowly track back until the entire throne room is on screen. Dissolve to black. Credits roll. No denouement.

During the entire time - from the hero entering the throne room to the final dissolve - there would be no music, only the sounds of the fight: shuffling feet, clashing blades, the odd grunt of exertion and low moans form the wounded littering the floor. Think the fight scene against the crazy 88 in Kill Bill Vol. 1 (parts of it anyway).

I would be the member of the party who turns out to be the real villain.

Intro Cutscene

  Reveal hidden contents

The fight would be a nontraditional fight- it would start off like a regular boss fight, but very quickly the party would realize that in an out-and-out fight, they just couldn't possibly win. During this fight, they would determine that my ring was the source of my power, an immensely ancient and powerful magical artifact. Then one of the party members would bust out the Chekov's Gun that they had all forgotten about- a tool that allows them to enter any magical item. It was the solution to a plot point early in the game, and hasn't been used since. All of the party would enter the ring except for the Hero- the group inside the ring's job would be to disrupt the ring's power for just a moment, long enough for the Hero to deliver a killing strike in the real world.

The fight, therefore, would be two-part- on the one hand, you have the party inside the ring, trying to damage the ring in a battle against its raw power. On the other hand, you have the protagonist, who is one-on-one against me, and just trying to survive long enough for the party to do what was necessary. Inside the ring, it would be a three-phase boss. First phase would simply be a representation of me (though less powerful than the real me), second would be the previous master of the ring, and third would be the man who created the ring, long ago... finally, the party would beat all three forms, the representations of all three bearers of the ring, and the Hero would get his chance, and run me through with his sword.

Well yes you could do it like that...but I find a broken sword works just as well. It's much simpler. :P

Anyways, speaking seriously...

-As a villain I am silent. I do not have a monologue. I just stare at you.

-My signature attack would be a wall of daggers thrown straight at you. I have the ability to completely vanish, both visibly and on any detection devices you may have. I have 666 forms, or "lives" in this case since I do not technically change.

-My dying quote would be to jump on the hero and detonate my explosive vest.

Uber-assassin ftw! :D

Throughout the game, I and my party have been fighting for freedom from the oppressive rule of a dictatorial monarch, but when we reach the top of her tower, we find things aren't what they seem.

The battle is hard, but not impossible. Straightforward, but difficult, intercut with dialogue.

The "bad" ending.

You've fought through waves of enemies, hours of cutscenes, some tacked on vehicle sections to get to this, the final confrontation.

You get to the bunker, my elite personal guard are everywhere, their corpses pile up as you mow through them.

A final door stands in your way, you blast through.

I am no fool, you've slaughtered hundreds, thousands even, all supposedly better trained than you, and certainly better trained than me. I know I stand no chance against you. As the clouds of dust settle you see me, slumped over the desk. The poison was quick, painless. My final act was to steal your victory from you.

The "good" ending.

You've slipped through my defences, largely unnoticed. Several of my troops have disappeared or died. I assume it is through desertion or negligence.

You enter the bunker. My elite guards, though numerous do not expect your relentless, precise assault. They fall one by one, none of them has time to reach an alarm. They will be discovered soon, but too late.

A final door stands in your way, you blast through.

I am caught off guard, I panic, scramble for a gun. You are calm, a squeeze of the trigger, a thrown grenade, a knife to the throat, who knows? My life ends before I have even raised my weapon. Your allies rejoice, the world questions my end. Should I have stood trial? Was the force that ended my existence a noble one or a more subtle form of evil?

The "really good" ending.

You've slipped through my defences, largely unnoticed. Several of my troops have disappeared or died. I assume it is through desertion, negligence, or an ambitious and violent captain, I care not.

You enter the bunker. My elite guards, though numerous do not expect your focussed, precise assault. They fall one by one, none of them has time to reach an alarm. They will be discovered soon, but too late.

A final door stands in your way, you blast through.

I am caught off guard, I panic, scramble for a gun. You are calm, a squeeze of the trigger and searing pain shoots up and down my right arm, before I can react my left arm is also disabled and I am restrained. Your allies arrive in force, mine are swiftly subdued. I am hauled before the world broken, defeated, I spend the rest of my life in a prison (unless there is a sequel) a lesson to others who follow that there is no glory to be had in their inevitable defeat.

The "standard FPS boss" ending

You've killed everyone, corridor after corridor of bodies litter your trail of destruction. We meet in a curiously open space, probably a rooftop. I absorb countless bullets to the head and chest before teleporting to within melee distance of you. We knock the guns from each others hands and engage in a fist fight interspersed with QTE's. Then I probably fall off the building or some shit. Fin.

Throughout your entire adventure, I have been a thorn in your side. Your quest has been to stop my evil reign. Along your journey you have seen villages burned, maidens kidnapped, and chapels desecrated. You reach me after battling through my castle fortress filled with hellspawn and diabolical traps. I'm atop the central tower, lounging on an uncomfortable looking throne of stone.

Opening cutscene:

  Reveal hidden contents

The fight is pretty rough. I'm quite difficult on my own, and when things look bad for me I move to execute one of the several innocent characters I've kidnapped over the course of the game. If I succeed, it's game over. When a prisoner is teleported into the battlefield, you must make it your priority to rescue him/her. This invariably allows me to retreat and heal. There will be four prisoners. All four were once party members, and you thought that I had killed all four of them. The fourth is Hero's father who "died" heroically early in the game. Each rescued character grants a buff to the party which makes it possible to survive my next (increasingly powerful) attack pattern before escaping. By the end the party is basically invincible, and I'm throwing out entirely unreasonably powerful magic attacks. It's close. I ban healing in the final phase, so it's a gauntlet run to finish me before I finish you.

I like it, Frosted. 'Course, I'm a sucker for "not-really-villains", but I like the subversion of classic black and white video game evil. Hrm, I may do another boss now... I had a ton of fun writing my first one. I'd need an idea, though- the first one came very quickly to me, but I'm gonna need more time to think of a good second one.

What is your opening monologue or how do you taunt the would-be hero(es)?

Son of a biscuit how'd you make it up here?...the legendary Nine assassins? You killed them all? What about my fire and ice twin women demon's who both suffer from weaknesses to the others opposites? THEM TOO?....ahh man. I mean I was texting the fire woman, her name is Clare and like things were going good ya know? I figured I could ice her fiery heart! Ahaha!....nothing? C'mon your humour sucks. Die now! *swirly battle screen morph*

I have a badass laywer suit. I mean that's fucking badass. Also a suitcase and I like open it, and light comes out and it hurts people! And I got a sword, one of them dueling swords. My ultimate attack is the Judge Gavel. Its like a massive hammer that squashes the opponents, killing them instantly.

Death Quote: Looks like I got...the death sentence...GEDDIT!....ah go to hell
