Eleven
Late to the party, but I am loving this game! I think it's going to be one of my favorite JRPGs. But hey, one of my other favorites was Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I have a lot of favorites. They are just something I keep in mind when I think about games I like. deanb
I'm quiet enjoying it. Hate having to go back to Academia 400AF though. I wish the monster sorting was a bit better. Mainly to let me filter by the material level, so I can easily level them up, and maybe to group them by type too. About to get my fifth ..thingy that you need five of. I'm annoyed cos I'm running out of Wild Artefacts for my gate hopping, so I almost locked myself out of advancing the story (As best I can tell. I guess I could have grind for gil n just buy one from Serendipity). Also cos I want it out the way ASAP I'm currently walkthrough-ing it to some degree. Mainly in finding the artefacts n 5 things up to now.
Thursday Next
The coliseum does jack shit after that tinsy cut-scene, and the clothes don't change without DLC? Wow, bull-shit. Blerugh, tad like ME2/AC in that regard, you complete the game and there's just sort of a hole missing. Sure the game could be awesome, but you're left with a deep feeling that you're missing out on something. On the scale, this sits waaaaay below AC/ME2 in my opinion. So far as bullshit DLC goes. It's Prince of Persia ---> Assassin's Creed ---> Dragon Age ---> ME2 --> Deus Ex ---> FFXIII-2. PoP was pretty much, pay to finish the story. Class A dick move and was not purchased despite me really liking that game. Assassin's Creed skipped some of the middle of the story and put a big feather hat on it by telling you. I did purchase it since I was curious about the extra story and I had enjoyed the main game fully. Dragon Age nagged you about extra stories that might interest you. It was a bit fourth wall breaky, but at least it was up-front. I nabbed a code through a colleague, but would probably have bought it. Mass Effect 2 hinted heavily that you could have more allies, but didn't have Shepherd mutter to herself every time she walked past an empty room "if only [DLC CHARACTER 1] would occupy that empty room there... *sigh*." I've never actually played a Mass Effect game. Don't know why really. Deus Ex skipped some of the middle of the story, but didn't tell you it had. I've not bought that DLC, might pick it up at some point as I need to replay it anyway. FFXIII-2 says, this is a place to fight facsimiles of monsters and heroes, but has nothing to do with the story, and you can dress Serah up like a slut if that's your bag (it is my bag, and she is running around in a bikini). I would like it if the Colliseum let you fight any monster that you have in your bestiary, especially as it would make capturing them a less time consuming / luck based process, but I certainly don't think the empty Coliseum or the "soon to be refurbished" Serendipity make the game feel less than complete. They're just obvious places to tack on extra stuff out of the way of the story so you don't have to do any complicated ret-cons or anything. deanb
I did say "tad like". Not "this is worse than" or what not. It's jsut annoying in the carrot n stick approach, especially giving you nothing else to go on. Like if you could get DLC monsters in addition to regular monsters(maybe boss fight repeats) for the coliseum I wouldn't mind. But yeah it lets you in, tells you what it's for, then turns out that's not what it does unless you open up your wallet some more. Hardly like they've not set down the foundations on what to expect from "coliseum/arena" type areas in the game. edit: Also you've never played Mass Effect 2?(or 1, but it's 2 we tend to lock horns over). This changes everything!
Thursday Next
So, it has come to this... Yeah, I loved the Monster Arena thing in FFX. I'd be a bit miffed if they charged to make all defeated monsters available in FFXIII-2. However, if it rocked up as a bit of free DLC, I'd be chuffed to bits. TCP
Do not purchase the Sazh DLC if you don't like cards. Eeeep!
Strangelove
Then I wont. I avoided Serendipity completely.
TCP
Me too. I knew casino stuff was going to be unlocked with this DLC but that's all there is. There's a video explaining what happened to Sazh (you could just YouTube that though) and then Sazh starts playing cards. I was hoping for some battles. I thought 5 dollars was a little too generous from Square Enix. Especially considering Serah's bikini is 3 dollars. Thursday Next
Still probably gonna get it. You can all blame me when Squeenix release Horse Armour.
Eleven
I finished it! Now time to go time-hopping! (is that a word?) Hey, uhhmm, I heard the bikini improves Serah's spells. Is that true? I'm going to google it... Naah... I'm sure it's true! Yes... yes i think i'm going to download it for the... uhh... stat boost, yes. Good thing there's a stat boost huh? I'm gonna go download it now... hmmm...
Chronixal
http://uk.faqs.ign.c.../1218032p1.html I'm just going to link this here. (Oh you'll need to enable Macros for it to work) Words cannot describe my seething hatred for those puzzles. I generally hate puzzles in my RPG's at the best of times but I ended up just guessing my way through the first of those. Awful, awful idea. Oh and I downloaded the Serah beachware dlc quick as lightning. Well worth the pound-fifty.
Mal
Wait. Seafood Soup is going to appear!? Damn you Square Enix... I thought I swore off you folks.
Strangelove
http://www.siliconer...-2-coming-soon/ The Ezio costume is coming out soon. Damn. Releasing Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed costumes is just....mean. By the way, a lot of people are either confused or angry that Square Enix is cross promoting with these non-Japanese companies. Id just like to say that it's Japan's reluctance to collaborate with other companies outside Japan that has hurt them quite a bit. Its just a couple of goofyass costumes, but its a step in the right direction. Edited March 28, 2012 by Strangelove
Eleven
They should only charge $0.99 for these costumes The mass effect costumes cost $6 (i think) if you buy them together! what!? But hey, I already bought 1 costume for Serah and 1 for Noel. Who am I to complain?
TCP
I'll wait to purchase these costume's and see if the DLC add-on expected in May includes Serah + Noel or if they bring in Lightning and/or Snow.

If you do too, use this one: http://nyusuke.com/game/ff13/ff13-2puzzle.html It's harder to read... but it'll do. Have seen only 1 of those puzzles with 13 numbers anyway. Eleven
Completely finished the game today. Except for Coliseum battles. Nabaat is hard. I youtubed her fight, and that's what I was doing but I couldn't pull it off... Can't wait for the Lightning DLC. It unlocks lightning as a party member too, however, I've done everything already! Maybe coliseum battles and capturing Monsters, all of them would be next... Or not.. too much time spent on this game already.
TCP
Does it continue to the story after the game or does it show what Lightning was up to before and during Serah and Noel's adventure?
TCP
Forget Diablo 3, the Snow and the Lightning DLC is getting released this week. Final Fantasy XIII-2 has debuted quite a few bits of DLC since its early-year release. They've added Sazh, Lightning, N7 armor, an octopus homage, and more, to say nothing of the various alternate costumes. Now, though, Square Enix has announced that they will finally finish with Final Fantasy XIII-2 after one last burst of content. Today they've released two last episodes to round out the story. The first is "Snow's Story: Perpetual Battlefield," which adds Snow to the Coliseum. After completing his story, Snow will become an available party member. "Lightning's Story: Requiem of the Goddess" promises to flesh out events from the main game, adding to the story and its ending. Lightning has special abilities that she'll apparently need, as according to Square Enix, "Requiem of the Goddess" will put "the arduous battle between Lightning and Caius not shown in the main game" front and center. The "Requiem of the Goddess" DLC takes place after the main events of Final Fantasy XIII-2. Both DLC episodes, plus a white mage outfit for Serah, a black mage outfit for Noel, and a set of new outfits for Mog, will be available this week on XBox Live and PSN. The costumes all run 240 MSP (XBox) or $2.99 (PSN); "Snow's Story" is 320 MSP or $3.99 on PSN, and "Lightning's Story" goes for 400 MSP or $4.99. http://kotaku.com/5910422/snow-and-lightning-star-in-final-final-fantasy-xiii+2-dlc/gallery/
Strangelove
Is this going to be the "real" ending of 13-2 or are they going to do a sequel?
TCP
That's still unclear. I wouldn't mind a sequel, but Square really needs to put some more development into Versus, people would riot if we got another XIII sequel before Versus.
