SomTervo
Hey chums, I got a sudden creative impulse today on the bus, and I'm desperate to make a game in the isometric RPG/Adventure style of ye old games like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Zelda, and even Pokemon. The game itself would be pretty subversive, and I may tell you about it if I get enough work done on it- but first, having ridiculously limited previous programming knowledge, I need an engine I could create something like that in, that would give me quite a lot of freedom with the game's engine. Anyone got any good suggestions of an engine I could use? I know of a couple, but don't know which are best for what I'm trying to do. Any other info you need just say. deanb
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/product.html?prod=vx $60, but with a trial. It's kind of the staple of home RPG making. There's also XNA (or whatever it is now) if you're more into the coding side of things and don't want to pay a dime http://create.msdn.com/en-US/ Lets you make it for PC, 360 and Win7 Phone. (some of that requires XBL Gold and a $99 license iirc)
SomTervo
Damn, moneys. I'm 100% NOT into coding but I'd happily try it if it would make a better product. Will check both of those out, thanks.
