Mr W Phallus
So we now know that the third film in Nolan's trilogy will feature Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane. http://www.slashfilm...k-knight-rises/ Personally I'm sceptical of how well a uber-muscled character like Bane will transfer to Nolan's 'realistic' take on Batman but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Toshi
So the villains have been announced: Catwoman and Bane. The villains of Christopher Nolan's third Batman movie will be Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, and... Bane, a 1990s 'roid freak who shattered Bruce Wayne's spine in the Knightfall crossover. Anne Hathaway will play Selina, while Tom Hardy will play Bane. From i09.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Catwoman and Bane? Glad to see they're using quality batman villains
Mr W Phallus
Argh I just made a thread about the exact same thing! You beat me by 2 minutes Shouldn't have spent so long thinking up a name for the topic.
Mr W Phallus
Nothing wrong with Catwoman (unless she's the major villain in which case just no), never actually read a Bane storyline though.
Strangelove
The Dark Knight Rises.
Rocket Lawnchair
merged the two threads together. Anne Hathaway as cat woman? I <3 hathaway
Mister Jack
Bane is actually a pretty good villain. Not only is he very strong physically, but he also has genius level intelligence.
Toshi
As long as it's the comic Bane and not the one out of that crappy movie. At least the comic one was smart enough to break Batman's spine.

I was really hoping for maybe a Riddler appearance… I'll just wait and see what Nolan does with these two characters, I guess.
Mr W Phallus
Anne Hathaway as cat woman? I <3 hathaway Apart from bits of The Princess Diaries I've not seen any of the films she's been in but she doesn't strike me as very Catwoman-ey. @Mudkip- the Riddler isn't necessarily out of the question as a supporting character, I like him more when he's actually on the sidelines giving Batman hints anyway. Thursday Next
+1 For Hathaway love. She's stunning. Also +1 for Bane is an awesome villain. They damn well better not make him some roid-tard, I have faith in Nolan though. Can't wait for this film!
staySICK
it's a little too close to Bane and Poison Ivy for my liking, but as always. In Nolan I Trust.

Mr W Phallus
He does strike me as a character that is always going to be difficult to adapt since he's so much a product of impossible comic book musculature. I just hope he isn't CGI.

Bane and Catwoman are both good villains, but I think Mr. Freeze as a "sympathetic" villain would be a good path to explore, maybe bring out the dark side in Batman. That and Mr. Freeze is just a badass! As Arnold would say, "Let's kick some ice!" Edited January 27, 2011 by Cybronx
staySICK
still disappointed its not Black Mask. Lesser known villain that fits in perfectly with the story told thus far.

Yeah, someone like that would have been great.

I just hope he isn't CGI. I'm not very familiar with the character, besides what I've seen in Arkham Asylum and that shitty movie, but why would there be a need for CGI? Couldn't they just get someone with real muscles (maybe even an actual wrestler)? Instead of this: They should aim for something like this: Muscular, but not unrealistically so. SomTervo
Muscular, but not unrealistically so. Oooh, that's an appropriate picture. Hardy could definitely fit that kind of physique and style. (And this is him obviously going for more fat-weight, rather than muscle-weight) Edited January 27, 2011 by kenshi_ryden
Hot Heart
I was a bit skeptical about Hardy, but now that I know about Bronson I think he could do a good job... Seriously, though, I'm looking forward to it. Smooves, have you not read Knightfall? I recommend it. Shows Bane is more than just a 'roided up brute'. I'm not very familiar with him either, I mostly know him as the guy who broke Batman's back: The pic you found shows a much more achievable version though, so I'm still fairly confident Nolan won't mess up. Hot Heart
He actually looks a lot like Smooves' picture in Knightfall. Not huge like that cover...
Mr W Phallus
Interesting, I should probably read Knightfall, that is cover is all I really know about Bane.
