I like the idea of adding assist characters.

Also, I heard a rumor (currently unsubstantiated) that the 360 version is going to have a character in an effort to balance the PS3 version's Kratos. I can't imagine who they'd have who could really mix it up with the MK crowd though. I mean Kratos is a bad mother fucker so I can easily see him working, but I dunno about the 360 side.

Yeah they're super badass, but we're talking about people who will impale you on a magic spear and then burn you alive with fire from a god damn skeleton face. It's a little out of the Chief's league.

And the only reason Kratos took that long is because those bitches kept trying to run away.

Nah, I'm cool with Kratos. But dude is nothing out of the ordinary in MK. He kills divinities, everyone else kills divinities. He's brutal, everyone else is brutal. He was just the only one of his kind in his game, so everyone was, of course "HOLY SHIT DUDE YOU FUCKING MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD". If you put him in MK, I'm guessing the rest of the cast would be "Oh, look, a Spartan with a brick in his jaw. Might as well do something before dinner." Seriously, if he was originally an MK character I would have put him on my scrappy list with the likes of Kenshi and Fujin.

A new Mortal Kombat will soon be upon us. Who else is looking forward to it? If you haven't been following it, here's a gameplay video with Mileena.

Glad to see Mileena shops at the same store where Ivy from Soul Calibur gets her outfits. At least it seems like they are getting back to the classic 2D gory fighting roots of MK, instead of either trying that 3D fighting space or toning down brutality to fight superheroes.

I've to agree here Shepard. I'm super excited to see MK back to its gory roots. I played MK vs DCU, and while I thought it was somewhat fun (unlike many reviewers), it was definitely not the MK that everyone knows and loves.

I'm can't wait to see how this shapes up to be.

Don't forget that Microsoft bought Rare, and I can see some of the Killer Instinct cast fitting in well in a Mortal Kombat game.

Actually, Orchid's "flash" finishing move would fit in well with Mortal Kombat. A fatality with immature nudity for the sake of nudity to go along with fatalities filled with over the top violence and gore for the sake of violence and gore.

Not sure if Rare/Microsoft would want a KI character in MK, but I think that'd be a better match than any other Microsoft IP I can think of.

Tentatively interested in this game, but basically just as something fun to play with a friends online before going back to SSFIV. Even if it turns out to be surprisingly good, I don't see Japan having much of an online community for this game...if it even comes out here.

Kratos is pretty much a perfect fit for the franchise.

Not played an MK in yeeeeeeaaaaaars. So I'm rather looking forward to the demo. 4 fighters and two arenas are probably enough that I won't need to buy the game (I've never really gotten into fighters except Tekken and Fighter's Destiny). Especially when two of the fighters (Sub Zero & Scorpion) are the iconic characters in the series. I can pretty much be happy playing as either of them and wailing on Johnny Cage for quite some time.
