VicariousShaner
List movies that you really like that either critics or the internet (or possibly even people you actually know!) say is a terrible or average movie. Mine would have to be "Dude, Wheres My Car" because of the pacing and the clever jokes. (No, I am not a stoner)
Hot Heart
Hmm. Can't say I recall the jokes in that were very clever... I seem to remember thinking it was OK. Everyone must like 'And then...' though. In a similar vein, I liked Girl Next Door. It wasn't especially funny or clever, but I thought it was amusing enough and had some good performances. Had a great soundtrack too.
SkyGriever
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World I know most of you will say you liked it, but on my experience a lot of people hated it because they were expecting something else... Also, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Mr W Phallus
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Beat me to the punch, definitely a polarising film. It may be the nostalgia glasses doing their thing but I've always been a fan of the 1998 Godzilla remake. Haven't watched it in a long time though, I'll have to crack out the VHS when I'm back home. VicariousShaner
Hmm. Can't say I recall the jokes in that were very clever... I seem to remember thinking it was OK. Everyone must like 'And then...' though. The brilliant subversion of the transgendered man in a relationship with a transgendered woman and the 2 lead's reaction to it struck my funny bone. Of course if I expected you all to like my example I don't believe I would have it there in the first place. Also I agree with those saying Scott Pilgrim, I really enjoyed that movie. Mr. GOH!
The new Green Hornet. I cannot explain it, but I legitimately enjoyed that movie. I did not expect to enjoy it, I don't necessarily recommend that anyone else see it and I have no reason to ever see it again, but I had a good time watching it. CorgiShinobi
Tron: Legacy You know the story; it's average amongst movie goers and the critics wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. I haven't been bothered by it that much, but last night a friend/girl (wink-wink) came over and saw my Daft Punk-Tron: Legacy poster. Asked if I saw it (I do have roommates), I said I really enjoyed it... and she said she didn't like it. :'( ...but we both like Scott Pilgrim. It may be the nostalgia glasses doing their thing but I've always been a fan of the 1998 Godzilla remake. Haven't watched it in a long time though, I'll have to crack out the VHS when I'm back home. I would suggest you do that, and quickly. I liked it as a kid, and after the Nostalgia Critic got done with it, I wanted to judge for myself again. It's not garbage, but... it's not that pleasant. Enervation
Despite the Michael Bay spoofs, I enjoyed both recent Transformers movies. People have been bagging on them for the excess of explosions, but it's pretty cool seeing a CG Optimus!
Cyber Rat
Man on the Moon seems to get a lot of mehs around here, but I really liked it. As a "movie you hate everyone else likes", I just want to mention that I think Scarface is a below average movie and that Carlito's Way is superior in every way. Yantelope
Movies I like that everyone hates: Iron Man 2 Star Wars Prequels Pirates of the Carribean sequels Transformers 2 Shooter Matrix sequels
Mr W Phallus
The Pirates of the Caribbean sequels aren't bad, just underwhelming. I was disappointed because it could have been so much better.
Yantelope
I like most sequels to movies I like but it seems like if a movie is great then people demand the sequel to be better and if it's not they hate it. I kind of get that but I don't function that way. For example: I predict that the next Batman movie will be loathed because it will crumple under the weight of the Dark Knight. Strangelove
I prefer batman begins over the dark knight. By a lot. Crazy I know.
Strangelove
I love interview with a vampire. Im totally gay for that movie. I love cast, the setting, the super homoeroticism. Its great. Its still my favorite vampire movie. and its still less gay than any twilight movie.
Thursday Next
I have high hopes for the new Bloom and Knightley-less Pirates of the Caribbean sequel.
Mr W Phallus
I like most sequels to movies I like but it seems like if a movie is great then people demand the sequel to be better and if it's not they hate it. I kind of get that but I don't function that way. For example: I predict that the next Batman movie will be loathed because it will crumple under the weight of the Dark Knight. I don't think people necessarily want them to be better (although they are often hyped as being such which can lead to disappointment) just on a par with the originals. PotC and The Matrix sequels were both definitely worse than the original and people are annoyed by this. It's also important to remember that sequels nearly always have a bigger budget and generally more effort is spent on them so technically there should be an improvement, at the very least on a technical level. But above all, people hate it when a film that is generally considered to be good gets a sequel that is not. Take Star Wars. My favourite is Empire Strikes Back, but I still love its sequel Return of the Jedi, even though it's not quite as good IMO. I hate the prequels, though, because they are most definitely bad films and not only are they a wasted opportunity but they reflect badly on the originals. Also I doubt The Dark Knight Rises will be loathed - Nolan has proven himself to be a capable and above all popular film-maker - and there's no reason why it might not be as good as The Dark Knight, sure there'll be no Heath Ledger this time but The Dark knight suffered from some real pacing issues towards the end of the film, it was far from perfect. Battra92
Terror of Mechagodzilla. Seriously, that movie is effing awesome!
staySICK
Spider-Man 3. Sure it was a weak entry, but I didn't think it was as horrible as its made out to be. there, I said it. also: Movies I like that everyone hates: Iron Man 2 Good movie. Pirates of the Carribean sequels Second one was good, third one was eh, but still good. Shooter Good movie.
Strangelove
I also like spiderman 3. Its entertaining and still has some really good moments, despite the story being a mess.
Hot Heart
Crap. I forgot that one. Yeah, I liked Spider-Man 3. I think I said this somewhere else, it's by no means a great film but I found it an entertaining watch. Incredibly silly and didn't take itself too seriously...at least I hope it wasn't. Although, I suppose it's funny either way.
Strangelove
Despite what people thought, the dancing scene was great and peters attitude change after he gets the black suit is hilarious. Tobey mcguire can play a great asshole. He got it down pat.
Hot Heart
Oh, also TMNT. As in the 2007 one. Story was a bit dull, but I think the character designs, voicework and direction were pretty cool. And no Vanilla Ice... staySICK
the cg tmnt? I really liked that movie. Jersey Devil scene was great.
Yantelope
I too enjoyed Spider-Man 3 just fine. I never saw the new TMNT. TMNT3 was utter crap though. I thought that even as a child.
Strangelove
As a kid even i couldnt pretend i liked tmnt3. I need to go back and see why even as a child i couldnt be impressed with it. It must truly be awful.
