Movies that you like that everyone else seems to hate.

Never really a fan of TMNT 2 or 3.

I think it was AVGN who pointed out in 2 that it's quite funny that 'Super Shredder' is so super he lasts about thirty seconds and is defeated simply because he gets really angry and collapses a jetty on himself.

Jersey Devil scene was great.

Hehe. I always think of 'AMBER LAMPS' whenever I hear the song now. <_<

This was the highlight for me though.

Yeah, I do hate that. Other than that Super Shredder was super cool.

because it's awesome and deviously hilarious

when you're doing something intentionally badly the leeway for satire and other spoofy commentary is wide open so there are some pretty darn funny jokes in troma movies if you can make it through teh special fx

edit: also, may i add that the terrible fx are in some cases a spoofy kind of satire funny in and of themselves, which makes something so terribad just really terrigood

I prefer batman begins over the dark knight. By a lot. Crazy I know.

I totally agree with this. The Dark Knight was really good as a crime film, but still not great (imho), whereas Batman Begins is the only Batman movie I've seen that captured what Batman was all about. He makes bad guys think he's supernatural, and preys on their fears. Dark Knight was totally grounded in reality and lost all of that magic, though it is still great, mostly for the Joker.

I quite liked Remember Me. The ending completely caught me off guard. A lot of people, especially cirtics, hated it. I think that was mostly because it seems very directionless, it's not edited that well, and it's generally pretty floaty in a dramatic sense- though all the acting is still great. The best actor in it by far, though, is...

Robert Pattinson. He's actually great in it. I enjoyed that film a lot, but made sure I had no preconceptions about it before we watched it.

Have you ever seen The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra? I think it's the best bad movie spoof I've ever seen. The only thing they didn't have was badly inserted stock footage.

Also, I am adding terribad and terrigood to my vernacular. My fiancee still hasn't become used to me saying "totes."

I think that's a big difference between them. Because Batman Begins is an origin story it is very much about Batman. I mean, there's still a lot of personal stuff in TDK but it once again becomes a bit more about the villains (much like the other Batman films before Begins).

Both great films, though I find TDK more 'rewatchable'.

she'll learn.

i've always made up my own words so mr. toves doesn't even ask anymore where things i say come from. he accepts them as they are. i have not seen either of those movies, but i shall give them a go.

Heh, yeah, I found Begins a lot more enjoyable really, but yeah I wouldn't want to watch it twice in a row. The Dark Knight, however, I'd happily see more than once in pretty quick succession. It's a much more mature and interesting film overall.

I can watch The Dark Knight multiple times, but I struggle each time I try to watch Batman Begins again. It's mainly the beginning where you go through his origin. I think after having watched a completed Batman in Dark Knight, it's hard to go back and see him discover things all over again.

Both are really great films, but I would say Dark Knight is more approachable. I mean, Joker doesn't even have a solid origin, so it's like everything is ready to go for an amazing experience.

Heath Ledger and the Joker is what makes Dark Night a better movie, in my opinion anyways (man). It's not simply who the actor was and who the character is, but what they all brought to the movie. With Begins, you see Bruce/Batman fighting against corruption, a nice variant of good vs. evil.

With Dark Knight, we're introduced to an agent of chaos. Someone unlike common thieves, murders, and even the big shot crime lords. Someone who wants to see the world burn, even if it means they might die in the process. They don't care, and hell if they truly care about anything (pride, money, turf, etc). What tops it off is that Joker has a lesson he wants to teach all of Gotham. Like in the comic "The Killing Joke," he wants to show that anyone can become as insane/mad as him and that all it takes is a little push. This could be having cops kill hostages, rigging ferries to explode unless one ferry blows up the other, and of course turning the white knight of Gotham into a deranged murderer.

In the end, no one truly won or was correct. While none of the ferries blew up, proving people are beyond selfish savages, Harvey still succumbed to hatred and revenge. To protect the image of hope and peace in Gotham, Batman must dawn the burden of being Harvey's murderer and be chased by not only the authorities, but the citizens of Gotham.
