Toshi
I seriously wanna have a game more like Gold/Silver where I can travel to the previous regions and kick the hell out of other gym leaders
CorgiShinobi
We should probably makes this our Pokemon thread. I mean, where else would I post about... Pokemon have Mega Evolutions now. Like, remember when Digimon had Mega Digivolution as that hidden ultimate form after... Ultimate Digivolution (mistranslation)!
Faiblesse Des Sens
The shark has officially been jumped.
Mister Jack
Are they actually calling him MegaMewtwo in the game?
madbassman39
It looks like (I could be wrong though) its not a full evolution as much as a per battle stat booster. Either way I agree, consider the Shark jumped, or the Sharpedo jumped!
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, the thing I read said there are certain items that when the Pokemon holds them they go to their Mega Evolution in battle, but it's only for during the battle and if you take the item away from them they don't do it anymore. FMW
That's good! Power creep is bad. And it would have boggled the mind if Pokemon had managed to resist the allure of power creep for so long but then NOW all of a sudden decided "We need to make MEGA POKEMON or we'll lose the kiddies". Baconrath
I wanted to use Kingler in Heart Gold until I found out it can't learn Waterfall, the only physical water-type HM in Gen IV. #physicalwatertypeprobs
deanb
http://www.nintendo-insider.com/2013/09/04/bulbasaur-charmander-and-squirtle-join-starter-line-up-in-pokemon-x-and-y/ New starters got announced today. They're pretty lame like all new things pokemon, the original pokemon were the best.
madbassman39
This is an interesting turn of events. I always liked having to chose only one starter, made the choice that much more strategic. We'll see how it plays out.
TheFlyingGerbil
at least you can pair up your lame new X/Y starter with an original starter in the new games. The worst thing about the direct I thought was the annual subscription for Pokebank. Cheeky bastards.
CorgiShinobi
Heard about it earlier today, but wasn't sure about the details. I got excited about being able to transfer my White Version Pokemon, but then saw that there would be a fee. I am glad though that I'll have a Squirtle and Fennekin. Much like last generation, I'm sure there will be some great Pokemon while the rest are... alright.

Baconrath
Everybody harshes the ice cream pokemon but I think they're great because I can name them Lt. Dan.Lt. Dan, Ice Beam!
Chronixal
I loved the Vanillite line. Pokemon has always had oddball creatures, even G1. Floating magnets, a pile of sewerage? I think it fits fairly well and is a fairly decent ice-type. As for X/Y, liking the fact you get 2 starters, especially as the original trio. Charmander for life. Faiblesse Des Sens
Megas, bringing back the original starters, a subscription service... how does no one think this the point they've officially jumped the shark?

FMW
Sales will determine if the franchise has peaked or not - the franchise has been taking a beating in the court of internet dwellers' public opinion for over a decade now. As long as it remains approximately as popular as Jesus Christ in South America with the kiddies, it will thrive.

CorgiShinobi
Will anyone care if I post Pokemon news? I dunno, But for Wednesday, major news dump before launch. Editing character appearance, Stage 1 evolutions for new starters, some new Pokemon, revisions to Type chart factoring the new Fairy-type, and how Mewtwo has two Mega evolutions depending on the game version. The one we've seen before is Mewtwonite Y, and the new one (which looks way better) is Mewtwonite X.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Looks way better? It still looks like a retarded Frieza.
CorgiShinobi
Are you implying Mewtwo has never looked like a retarded Frieza? C'mon, that's silly. That was half the fun of him... it... thing. Edited September 12, 2013 by Atomsk88
CorgiShinobi
I'm sure some of you have seen this by now, but might as well bring it up. We don't have just a single Mega Form for Charizard. The one we saw before is for Y version, and this one is Mega Charizard X. Pro: Charizard finally becomes a Fire/Dragon type with this Mega Form. Con: I hate the design about 86%~ with the black and blue color scheme being cool. EDIT: We can only assume Blastoise and Venusaur have another Mega Form too. madbassman39
In all of the excitement of the new games coming out, I decided to play some Fire Red. Beat the game, and caught Mewtwo, only to realize that once I beat the elite four there is no real reason to keep playing the game. I'm not able to trade with anyone or battle anyone so I moved on to Sapphire. I remember enjoying the game enough to finish it back when it released (last pokemon game I actually purchased) but thinking it was the weakest game of the series so far. I'm playing extremely modified nuzlocke rules, meaning no dropping fainted pokemon unless fainted in a gym battle/major character battle, no catching the first pokemon I see but limiting it to one pokemon per route. I do like the world design in Sapphire, but boy do a lot of the pokemon seem like pokemon rip-offs. I also came to realize I don't like human shaped pokemon, that reminds me too much of Digimon.
