MetalCaveman
As well as trying to be 'realistic', I think it's partly a console-led thing. You don't have loads of keys on a controller so rather than keep making you switch them out in a menu, they limit it to a maximum of 4. Maybe, but full arsenals work too, just add a "selection wheel menu" or something But I get the fact that it's harder to do on consoles. And IMO there should be more games that let you carry a full arsenal with you A la Unreal Tournament, where everyone is a mobile armory? Yeah, pretty much Edited January 27, 2011 by MetalCaveman

Actually, that's a good call. It's still not as precise as direct button mapping, but that is a good call.
deanb
Yeah the vertigo one too. I used that quite a bit, but it didn't always kick in (like the whip might pull them a bit too close to me, so I kick, which sends them to the other side :/) Did the tenderizer second time round. Actually that'd be one complaint : not all the combos seem to kick in. I must of got tons of groin shots, but it didn't seem to suggest I'd done anything special, just a regular kill. Also woot on half getting the fart thing right. Though bad form for them.
staySICK
I think the trick to the groin shot is getting them on their knees like that, then kicking them. The kick is what triggers Mercy, I think. I haven't actually pulled off Mercy yet. I've done a few groin shots that resulted in the animation, though. It just doesn't give points beyond a standard kill without the mercy kick.
MetalCaveman
Awesome vid, from that, I'm missing the ones at the beginning, I used "fly swatter" But the techniques that dude used are much better This is also something I like about the game, comparing skillshots, scores and more. It'll be fun Also, I've been having the same problem, with some skillshots not triggering and stuff.
staySICK
10,600! Would have been more if French Revolution would have triggered on the last wave instead of Chain Reaction again. Got Mercy too. Sorry, Metal.
Hot Heart
Bit of a sidetrack... As far as weapons go, I think the Mass Effect or Prototype alternatives are quite good ie. using a selection wheel and slowing or pausing the game while the button is held. Though, the thing you have consider is which button you use and what you sacrifice. In Mass Effect, I believe they moved grenades onto the face buttons (the back button, I think?) and ME2 did away with them altogether. You're gonna make people select from the wheel with the right stick, and you want it a button they can hold down so it has to be a shoulder button. But you need one for firing, one for zooming in...do you want one for reloading and one for quick grenades? I think you could probably write something quite interesting looking at certain controls for different games.

Hold down triangle and choose with the left stick. I don't see why you'd have to use the right stick to select the weapon.
Hot Heart
Yeah, you don't have to use the right-stick, but I'd imagine that's more intuitive for people. I've never played Ratchet & Clank so that sounds like an interesting idea. I mean, for one, you don't put your aim off.
VicariousShaner
Well, I just got through the demo, here were a collection of my thoughts while playing this for the first time. "Wow, a fully voiced cutscene just for the demo, thats pretty cool." "Hmm, lets try using this leash and DAMN THATS AWESOME" "This game is so insanely fun, must find more ways to kill people." "day 1 buy for sure." "This better be GOTY" "well, that was amazingly fun and 0_0 another cutscene made just for the demo!?" "These bosses are amazing" "Woop, I get rewarded though playing through this demo by an incentive to purchase the full game? Hell to the yes" I plan to get 3 stars in that one echo mission, this game is amazing.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
I enjoyed the demo... until the characters opened their mouths. And then I wanted to set my 360 on fire to purge it.

Faiblesse Des Sens
I enjoyed the demo... until the characters opened their mouths. And then I wanted to set my 360 on fire to purge it. Someone doesn't get that it's over the top on purpose! Not a fan of b-movies I'm guessing? Anyways, I enjoyed it, but it doesn't seem like purchase material. See I was talking about this on Twitter other day since Caveman RTed Cliffy B, and what exactly is the purpose of the dialogue being so shitty? Seen a fair few b-movies in my time, the staple of student movie night, but none of them just had a ton of crudeness to cover up crappy dialogue. In fact most of them take themselves quite seriously which is what makes them great. I've not been following the game very closelsy so maybe PCF maybe did come out with saying they wanted a M rated game made for 13 year olds, or they felt that since it had practically become an Epic game rather than there's they thought they'd maybe tarnish Epic's name a little. I dunno.
Cyber Rat
The point is to shoot stuff until it dies, not unlike killing Cyber Demons. I honestly could care less about other aspects of the game like dialogue. You guys are acting like it's Blitzball.

deanb
Okay now re-reading the fact Faiblesse mentioned B-movies, does kind of clash with the Starship troopers thing. Cos while it may of been shit, B-Movie it was not. Still, I'm not understanding the connection between those and whether or not PCF have actually come out n said why the dialogue is the way it is. Hot Heart
It was made in the style of a B-Movie. If you know the director, Paul Verhoeven, you know his satirical nature.
