Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Rented it. First impressions; it's fun, as long as you mute it and remove the subtitles. It's not "charmingly" stupid, it's just "I want to set my speakers on fire to purge the stupid" stupid.

deanb
Stopped after chapter 2. Gonna now give DAII demo a whirl now it's fixed then Dino D-Day. So don't worry, it shall be acquired for cash at some point. It's an enjoyable game, looks to have decent replayability. I'll grab it in the summer pile. Maritan
People all over the internet report various problems with graphics on PC. Did you try turning post-processing off? Yep. Tried it on different settings, still no dice. There was an update and it just... encrypted config files so you can't change them. Also, textures seem to be 16 bit. staySICK
beat it last night. Loved it. The game was hilarious.

Strange, I'm playing on the mid-low settings and having no such issues (the game only looks as ugly as any game on my PC). Out of curiosity, are you running a radeon or nVidia card? I know these kind of problems used to happen with radeon cards and since I'm running an nVidia, it might be that?

TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I can't imagine the textures are actually that low-color, it must be a glitch of some kind.
staySICK
I admit, I laughed at the cheap red ring joke.
deanb
Ah that explains it. I was looking for some pirate related sign. (I was told to look at the first door, I might appreciate it. Just this was in the context of been told how to bypass GFWL to get it running)
staySICK
yea that's the broken door waaaay at the beginning of the game.
peteer01
Anyone here have any experience with the 360 version of the game? I'm interested, but I'm wondering if the multiplayer has any local only search options or way of checking your ping in game. BFBC2 was pretty much unplayable more often than not with most hosts being in the UK or US...
Maritan
Changed DX to 10 through config and it's all fine. I kinda wish I had a smaller monitor, the game is very smooth in 720p, but I had to lower the graphic settings for comfortable fps on 1080p. staySICK
I don't want to derail the game opening thread further, so bump. also http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/2863-Bulletstorm normally I think Yahtzee makes great points, even when I find I disagree with him. With this one, I really think it comes down to gameplay styles. The fast paced gameplay he lamented the lack of I found to be in abundance. Run, slide, shoot, I think I remember only two areas I really felt I needed cover, and that was because my usual tactic of barge in guns blazing wasn't working about 4 times over. I mean, Echoes is built around doing speed runs and racking up as many points as possible through sections of the level. As for the enemies using cover and not grouping, leash + kick worked well for those, and the freaks grouped rather well. Burn, Acid Rain, and many other skillshots are easy to come by with the green faced weirdos. It's a shame really, I remembered Yahtzee mentioning his love for Painkiller, so was actually hoping to see one of those rare "I liked this game" reviews of his, but I know, that's not what he's known for. I really hate to say "you're playing it wrong." But to me, it actually seems like he was. It's funny, last time I took issue with a review based on the style of play was kotaku's review of Mirror's Edge by whatshernamewhosnolongerthere. Hot Heart
I never really consider Yahtzee's stuff proper 'reviews' and even before watching it seemed obvious he'd be thinking: People Can Fly + Epic = Not as good as Painkiller. deanb
So People Can Fly have regained thier independence from Epic Games, people have mistakenly noted the whole "own the Bulletstorm IP" which PCF have had to clarify they always did, but interest has spiked for it again of late. Might see a sequel hopefully http://www.pcgamer.com/bulletstorm-studio-people-can-fly-regain-independence-from-epic/
toxicitizen
Before talking about a sequel, how about patching GFWL out of the original? That's be nice. I wonder what happened for them to return to being independent, though. Did they buy themselves out from under Epic kinda like Bungie did? Or did Epic just no longer feel the need to own them and opted to release them rather than shutting them down? My guess would be the latter since PCF haven't done a whole lot in recent years to suggest they'd have that kind of spare cash whereas Bungie most definitely had a whole bunch of Halo money. Plus, it seems like Epic don't actually have a whole lot going on these days outside of UE development. Even the new Unreal Tournament game is basically outsourced to the community.
