Pirandello
I just found out that there's more than one way to make a shield. Arcane + Shield + Shift-Right-Click = Awwwww Yeahhhh. Also, mix and match various elements to get some lulz. Stone will make a circle of rocks around you, while Life will make a circle of explosive mines (depending on element). Still can't figure out Rain, though, someone should get back to me on that. TheMightyEthan
Tried the demo. Cool idea, but it doesn't really seem fun to me. I think it's just that I don't like the type of game though, and not any particular criticism of this specific game.
Redundant Nocturne11234
I'm getting a weird graphic glitch where there is a shadowy overlay on half the screen, at least I hope it is a glitch. I'm not getting that. It must be you.
Faiblesse Des Sens
The game uses up way more resources than it should but besides that I had no problems personally. I like the concept but it needs to be... smoother. Flow better I guess. Overall, still fun, I wish I could try out multiplayer.
Enervation
I'm not exactly sure what kind of engine they're using for the game. Might be some threading issue.
Johnny
Magicka is great. I haven't been having any real issues with it. One crash and two instances of being exploded into places I shouldn't be. However, last I checked it was not multi-platform. They canceled development of the 360 version. Zenia-chan
I got this, it's pretty funny. There are a lot of popular Internet memes and gaming/movie culture referenced in it, mostly some of the good ones from YouTube, or other games like Diablo and World of Warcraft. Also, for people who haven't played before, I would advise against casting Meteor Shower without a barrier up. (Shield + Mouse3/Cast Self) Direct hits from meteors do like 5k damage, and you can hurt yourself with it...lol it happened to me the first time I tried it. Ouch >_<
deanb
Played the demo. Was fun but found controls a bit weird. At least I kept myself healed every time I walked forward. Could do with them attached to number bar instead. Also I died at the time goblins come out and it carried on kicking me back to end of dungeon instead of before encounter. Got annoying so I quit. Cyber Rat
The checkpoint/save system is awful, I agree.

Had a few really good laughs from it, especially fun with the Most Retarded "Voice Acting" Ever. As for Meteor Shower... Yeah, that spell really doesn't have much use. It's been our least used Magick over the course of my multiplayer sessions. Played the demo. Was fun but found controls a bit weird. At least I kept myself healed every time I walked forward. Could do with them attached to number bar instead. Also I died at the time goblins come out and it carried on kicking me back to end of dungeon instead of before encounter. Got annoying so I quit. The controls are pretty much designed to fit us old Diablo players. I'd probably have more trouble with a "wasd to move" control scheme. There's a x360 control scheme as well if you have a 360 pad lying around. The checkpoint/save system is awful, I agree. It seems to get better later on. We've only had one or two deaths that sent us back more than one or two screens, and with co-op (which this IS designed for and you're really doing yourself a dis-service if you're ignoring) total party kills are pretty rare. There's usually one player who realizes what's about to go terribly wrong and moves out of the giant AoE the blue wizard is channeling before it's too late
TheForgetfulBrain
I played the demo and loved it. The spell combinations are really fun, and screenshots don't do how good the visuals any sort of justice. Just bought it on Steam. It's a shame I will be playing this SP almost for sure. McBeeferton
I love the idea of the game, but I find it hard to master. The controls are a little awkward. Wish the demo had online play!

It makes use of four fingers at a time so with 8 spells you just have to move between two rows. It works better than using the number bar but I will agree that it feels funky just do the fact that you're not using wasd to move around and I'm sure most of us only ever use those keys for that function. Cyber Rat
So, I thought the Sword of Masters was something I'd never exchange throughout the game, but I got an M60...

Yeah I'd say the sensation of having hand on the mouse and the other hand over the WASD keys at all time kind of makes you want to use WASD all the time. Shame it wasn't a straight up 9 elements, they could of used the numpad, then like 0 to activate ling spells (like how the spacebar currently works)

But the good thing is that your hands are conditioned for reaction when it comes to the WASD, so it's nice to plop down a spell nice and quick. TheForgetfulBrain
Unfortunately it runs like pooh on my laptop. As some have noted, the performance is suspect. Which is a shame, because it's totally the sort of game I'd like to play away from home. Ah well - I'm still looking forward to getting around to playing it more, even if it is as Single Player, at some point.
Bizzenya
The game is a lot of fun, but almost guaranteed to be short lived. Diablo II was successful due to the crazy loot system and skill trees. The spell system is inventive and really fun, but there is only so much you can do with it and I don't see much of an incentive to play through it again.

No Diablo II was successful because of of it's online capabilities. People like you probably spent all your points on the leap skill, so you could grunt periodically as you scavenged junk off the ground. To be fair, I think the success of Diablo II is debatable on a number of levels and isn't a "this" or "that" thing. I haven't played Magicka enough yet to decide if it's really comparable to Diablo II.
deanb
http://www.paradoxplaza.com/press/2011/3/paradox-interactive-unveils-magicka-vietnam-at-gdc-2011 btw why is this thread in Multi-platform?
Johnny
Because Magicka was supposed to be multi-plat until the 360 version was scrapped. Just watched that trailer also. Fucking awesome.
