Faiblesse Des Sens
Looks incredible so far. The UI looks great and the "extras" are above and beyond anything Nintendo is doing with the 3DS. You know this thing is going to be realllllyyy pricey though. toxicitizen
Ha, I love how it looks nothing like the so-called "leaked" pics that kept popping up. In this day and age, it's nice to be genuinely surprised by a reveal. Plus, I love this design way more than all that sliding screen crap. Color me excited! CorgiShinobi
Oh eff, with some of that tech I wouldn't be surprised if this thing reached $400.
staySICK
multitouch capable touchscreens too. yea, the price is something I'm not looking forward to hearing.
Mister Jack
Well I don't expect it to reach 599 US dollars again.
staySICK
Yakuza 4. In your hands.
toxicitizen
Man, I hope they're not going to start porting every PS3 game under the sun to the NGP. I'd much rather they develop original titles exclusive to the handheld. If that Uncharted game really is just a port of Drake's Fortune, I'll be really disappointed. staySICK
That's what it sounds like, which is disappointing, but maybe, hopefully, they'll do something new with Uncharted later too.
toxicitizen
Based on what I'm reading on the Kotaku liveblog, sounds like most of these PS3 games running on it are merely tests.
staySICK
no, I think Uncharted, LBP and some of the others are the real deal, basically, if there's gameplay, its going to happen, if its just a cutscene (MGS4) its showing potential and discussing the capabilities of the system. Mister Jack
If Kojima can really do what he claims he's doing, it will be AMAZING.
staySICK
I like the idea of playing a game on your console, loading it to your portable to continue from where you left off on the go, then back to your console when you get back home. toxicitizen
Yeah I knew Uncharted was legit. But I don't think Yakuza and MGS 4 are. Though I was under the impression that MGS4 was actually running on it, not just a video.
staySICK
yea, that was a cutscene exported and built to run on the NGP. but I think yakuza was the real deal. according to the liveblog on playstation blog kojima mentions before the clip that it was a "future perspective"
Mister Jack
Surprising absolutely fucking nobody, Activision announces Call of Duty for the NGP.
toxicitizen
Aww man, staying up for this was a terrible idea! I'll never be able to sleep now! So many questions! Thankfully I only have class in the afternoon, so I should still manage to get a decent amount of sleep
Faiblesse Des Sens
Based on what I'm reading on the Kotaku liveblog, sounds like most of these PS3 games running on it are merely tests. Yep. That's what has been said for basically everything shown. Don't worry about the games people, wait for E3.
toxicitizen
Doesn't look like they'll mention a pricepoint. Or give details about how games will be delivered (I think I read something about flash carts?) Also, since they're using a codename, I guess they're not planning on calling it the PSP 2? Oh well, can't wait to see what kind of retarded name they'll come up with.
staySICK
sounds like you'll have the option of downloaded or flash based physical media for games. I'm really hoping the ngp doesn't stick. I'm sure we'll find out about price and release at e3
Faiblesse Des Sens
Price, battery life, and actual games will likely come at E3. This was all about the big picture. Also yes, flash carts, there's even a picture (check engadget.) What if they call it the PS3GO? Lol. But yeah, apparently not "PSP2." It's not like Nintendo ever came out with a "Gameboy 2." CorgiShinobi
E3 should answer more of our questions, and it's probably the only place to give out not-so-good news like a price point.
Faiblesse Des Sens
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/27/sonys-ngp-psp2-has-a-quad-core-arm-cortex-a9-processor/ Holy fucking balls. Also smart on engadget to point out that it's competing with smartphones. The unreal engine demo was basically the epic citadel demo with improvements... Kau_Kau
The touch pad on the back interests me. It's like the adam tablet that was supposed to come out a while ago. This thing basically has all console control and handheld functionality. Be interesting to see what kind of games they can come up with, aside from the demos shown of course. Mal
I never had my own PSP... I know I won't be day one-ing this or even one year-ing this but I think I will be getting this. All depends on what happens at E3. Its kind of makes you wonder what will the next gen consoles will be like if Sony can pack such power in a tiny device like that... sure its a 5" screen but still.
