madbassman39
Don't forget, high end gaming PCs can struggle to emulate PS2, nevermind the relatively weak PS3.. Why is this? I don't really know much about the emotion engine in the PS2, so I dont know why PCs struggle with emulating the PS2
Faiblesse Des Sens
What I didn't understand is why they couldn't upload a software emulator in the system to keep the function of backwards compatibility. So people would buy more PS3 games and blu-rays since (besides PS1 games) its all their system would play. It worked. They make their money on software, not hardware, so I've always understood why they did it. Also, these days, PS2 can be emulated just fine on a PC. Been that way for a few years really besides one or two games. And remember, even the PS3 had issues with emulating. TCP
Agreed! I'm going to spring for the 32 GB card, but they better not announce a 64 GB card in a few months! Edited December 23, 2011 by TheCowboyPoet
Masonvrocks
With Vita games being on cards do they contain internal memory for saves? Or does the Vita itself? It'd be nice to be able to wait a little while before picking up a card, soften the blow to my wallet some.
deanb
AFAIK it's up to the game. Some save to the game cart, some save to the Vita memory cards.
WTF
There's also the issue that titles like Gravity/Gravity Rush/Gravity Daze will be download only in non-Asian and JP markets.
Thursday Next
Really torn between 3G version and WiFI version... I can hotspot my phone, so really, what do I want the 3G for? But then, I want the most gadgety of the gadgets...
deanb
I can't see myself wanting to download games there n then, Iv'e a feeling 3G won't allow for multiplayer gaming and I have a phone for most other 3G purposes (i.e interwebs, tweeting FBing etc). So Wi-Fi only would do me fine.
CorgiShinobi
3G speeds are terrible. If it weren't for 4G, I would be waiting for a Wi-Fi connection to run some of my apps and browse the Web. That, and the 3G provider is AT&T. Faiblesse Des Sens
Not as bad as Sprint's 3G.

But then, I want the most gadgety of the gadgets... I still don't understand the purpose of the 3G model outside of things like Near. 15 MB download limits, no multiplayer.... I can surf the net on my phone, so I really don't need that from my PSVita. Especially with Shaw Cable launching their wireless networks all over in the next year, as someone who doesn't use public transportation, there's really going to be no places without a wireless network I can use. Mister Jack
Pre-ordered my Vita and a 32 GB memory card (Yeah, I know, but I'm figuring cheaper downloads will make up for it in the long run). I really hope like hell this doesn't turn out to be a dud.
TCP
Pre-ordered my Vita yesterday as well, but they didn't have the 32 GB cards in their system so I wasn't able to pre-order one either.
TheFlyingGerbil
Is there a reason for pre-ordering? It's unlikely to sell out and if Japan is anything to go by there will be price cuts soon after release.

Thursday Next
Hehe. I downgraded to a wifi only model, if that helps reduce my whoreishness. The only thing that gives me pause for thought is that the wifi only one has no gps in it, (God knows why) so I'll miss out on location based easter eggs. TheFlyingGerbil
when I get it I will have to get the 3G version, even though the first thing I will do is turn the data connection off. I do think I will be better at waiting for the Vita than I was with the 3DS though. I only managed a month with that.
TheMightyEthan
Why will you get the 3g version if you won't use the data connection?
TheFlyingGerbil
Whenever I've bought the cheaper version of something (even if it does everything I need and more) I always regret it eventually, wishing I'd bought the better version and it sours my enjoyment of the one I did get. But if I buy the version with all the bells and whistles I pretty much forget about the extra money I spent the second I step out of the shop. It's like with my PSP, I saw it new really cheap and even though I knew I wouldn't really use it (and I don't) I knew if I didn't buy it I would regret it. So I'm happier with it sitting there gathering dust than I would have been with the money in my pocket so I know the £230 would be a bigger waste of money than £280. The extra £50 buys me piece of mind and that's priceless . I guess I have unhealthy shopping habits.

TCP
Just pre-ordered a 32GB card via Amazon.ca. EB Games didn't have 32 GB cards in their system. Good news though, for whatever reason the 32 GB card is being released a week early so it'll still have time to ship here before the 22nd. Thank goodness. Yantelope V2
http://www.destructoid.com/ps-vita-3g-teardown-puts-sony-s-cost-at-159-220036.phtml Hmmm, $159 for parts? Starting to sound like a repeat of the 3DS. I cancelled my preorder after learning just how expensive the memory cards were going to be. If you want a 16GB card and the system together you're talking about a minimum entry of $310 and that's just more than I wanted to pay. I can't help but think that sales are going to be slow until a price cut. I also can't help but wonder if that's just the strategy now. PS3 has almost caught up to Xbox in global sales so the initial $600 systems didn't really hurt them long term it seems. Why not gouge for a few months?
