Strangelove
All Atlus PSP games are half off on PSN right now. That means Persona 3 is $10 and Persona 1 and 2 are $15. Plus a bunch of other crap. But once again, they removed them from the Vita store to adjust the prices(retarded), so you can either wait for them to come back or buy it on your PS3, transfer them or go to your download list on your Vita and download them from there. Mister Jack
I can't believe I paid 40 bucks for P3P...
Strangelove
I can't believe I paid 40 bucks for P3P... Your point? And I paid 50 for P3 and then another 20 for P3 FES. Now it's on the store for 10 bucks. There's nothing to regret when a game is actually worth the price. Persona 3 definitely has enough content to warrant $50, $40 or whatever price. Strangelove
BTW, there's a new "optional" firmware update. 1.69. It's 97 mb. Also, PSone compatibility will be released with firmware 1.80. And no, the numbers don't mean anything. there wont be a 1.70 and 1.71 or anything like that, chances are 1.80 is the next one. Why they chose to tell us without a date? I have no idea. TheFlyingGerbil
at least they're telling you some of the stuff they're doing with the updates. I hate mystery firmware updates where you can potentially brick your system and you don't even necessarily get anything useful out of it. fuchikoma
If you wait a couple years, you could probably have it for $5, particularly if you don't mind having it used... but then, when do you want it and how much are you willing to pay? Strangelove
I do that kind of thing all the time. Im really bad when it comes to sales and stuff. I usually end up buying stuff that goes on sale a month after(FF13-2, ME3, HD collections) instead of paying full price for games that im almost certain will take months to drop in price(Dragon's Dogma). I just try really hard to not let it bother me. Money is really important and in this society you might as well not exist if you dont have any, but if I count the times Ive spent 5 or 10 or 15 bucks on food or gas or anything else that is disposable, I would die. It's MONEY, but it's JUST money. Im not sure how to explain it. I value it as much as anyone else(im unemployed right now, so I value it ALOT), but I like to pick what I feel is right to use it on and how much. Some things might be worth a lot to you that might not be worth as much or anything at all to someone else. If you dont feel comfortable paying a certain amount for something, wait. Thats too much of a nagging feeling to carry around.
Mister Jack
As far as I can remember, when I got my vita and was looking for PSP games to download, the Persona games were the ONLY ones that cost 40 bucks. I was of the mindset that Atlus was simply too stubborn to let it drop, considering that there were newer games on the PSN store that still cost significantly less. Obviously, I was wrong. Strangelove
Namco actually has all their games full price too. Both Tekken 6 and SoulCalibur are still 40. It's stupid.
TheMightyEthan
As for the icon thing, is there an example of that? Because as far as I know, on my iphone, on my previous android phone, and on my PS3 and PSP the icon IS the program/game. My Android phone has the exact functionality I mentioned: all the apps are available from the "apps" menu, and I can put shortcuts on the main screen if I wish, but they're just shortcuts, and removing them does not remove the app from my phone. It's an HTC Incredible 2 with Verizon, if you're curious. Anyway, I am totally happy with my Vita as a purchase. Never received Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but I've already beat Gravity Rush, Escape Plan and Mecho Wars (a Mini) and have liked all of them. Gravity Rush in particular was awesome. I'm kind of sad that it's Vita-only and therefore won't get as large an audience as it deserves.
Strangelove
Oh wait, my phone did have that. You're right. Weird. Once I switched over to the iPhone I never noticed that option was gone. I don't really mind having a lot of icons on my phone, but it annoys me to no end on my pc. I have 2 rows of icons on the left of my screen and I'll never add more. Ive seen screens covered completely in icons and I actually get a bit upset. Just by knowing someone lives that way annoys me. Anyways, I doubt the Vita will ever get that functionality. We just need folders or more than 10 pages. I want both.
TheMightyEthan
Folders would also be fine with me, though not quite as ideal. Mainly what I care about is getting rid of the icons for the preinstalled crap that I'll never use like Near or Remote Play.
deanb
Yeah Windows n Android work the same in that you have a desktop/homescreen with which to dump icons on for quick access (and a taskbar/action bar for constant access..depending on launcher settings), and a app drawer containing all of your apps in a big jumbled mess. It's nice to have. The lack of a homescreen is one of my pet peeves with iOS. Having to hunt n peck to find what you're wanting in amongst tons of crap you're not wanting. pocoGRANDE
SO! i've been out of the loop these last few days but i just saw this news article saying psone support is forthcoming on the next firmware update! this is gonna be GREAT! when all the final fantasies went on sale a few months ago i used the opportunity to buy almost all of them (i got VI, VII, VIII, and IX) with the intention of loading them up on the vita when that got sorted out. needless to say i am happy about this news. BUT ALSO if you look at the bottom of that news item there's something kind of shocking. sony is talking about ps2 support on the ps3! i suppose it's not that shocking, as the ps4 is forthcoming, but it still seems surprising... earlier this year i spent 30 bucks on a ps2 at a thrift shop (and it WORKED) so i'd be a tiny bit disappointed if all of a sudden my ps3 did the same thing (only a tiny bit). i can only guess it's a strategy to give the ps3 a sales bump in the last year of it's life. Strangelove
There's still no set date when the new firmware will be released, so that kind of sucks. Also, the thing about the PS3 being able to play PS2 games is kind of wrong. I think they just announced PS2 classics for Japan. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/07/03-1/ps2-classics-hit-japanese-psn-game-archives-collection Or maybe this is a whole other thing I haven't heard about yet. Seems kind of weird that Sony wouldnt mention it at E3. BC would be kind of a big deal. But its hard to believe since it would be cutting into the HD Collection and PS2 classics racket. We'll see. veldurak
Looking at Slashgear I'm not sure it means ps2 games will work from discs. It sounds like something downloadable, which we already have with PS2 Classics. The other big news from Sony Japan is that the PlayStation 3 will gain the ability to download and play classic PS2 titles. That’s maybe a bit of a sore point for consumers, with the original PlayStation 3 featuring backwards compatibility with PS2 games while future versions removed the functionality. These new downloadable titles will work across any PS3 as well. EDIT: Oh... beaten by 3 minutes. Edited July 6, 2012 by veldurak
Strangelove
"Staggered releases"? Ugh. That's all kind of shitty. I only have about 6 PSOne games, but I hope they all work when this firmware releases.
Mister Jack
I imagine they'll be doing your final fantasies and metal gears and whatnot first. Then they'll move on to the spyros and crash bandicoots out there. Finally, they'll do all those shitty games nobody likes but people still demand to be playable. Strangelove
Im not going to lie, all my PSone games are the huge million seller stuff. The only exceptions are BoF4, Umjammer Lammy, and Pocket Fighter. Those are the ones Im worried about.
danielpholt
I honestly can't remember that many Ps1 game i'd like to re-play. Grand Theft Auto maybe?
fuchikoma
I think Machine Hunter, Intelligent Qube, Bushido Blade, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Tail Concerto would make great handheld games.
Strangelove
If you lack the patience. SoTN is an unlockable in The Dracula X Chronicles. So you can technically play it on the Vita right now.
pocoGRANDE
just dropping by to say i picked up Mortal Kombat for my vita this weekend. it was on sale online at gamestop for $10! very excited, as i haven't played the console version at all. MK was always the fighting game i was worst at (though, come to think of it, i was really awful at KoF too) but i've heard such good things about this new one that i had to go for it. sixrocket
I got a Vita a month or two back, and I have UMVC3 and Metal Gear HD for it, along with a few PSP games. I'm enjoying it.
