PS Vita

I have this one, and I like it a lot.  I can still reach the rear touchpad with my middle fingers without problem.

*Edit* - Looks like it may not be made anymore, though.

Picked up Stealth Inc yesterday, courtesy of PS+. Seems like it could be a pretty fun game, i'm just not sure the Vita is the platform for it.

I still can't get over how beautiful Killzone looks on the thing. Granted its not the fastest shooter in the world, but it looks insane and plays pretty well too.

It doesn't hurt that i'm pretty good at it either.

PS4 is in the living room. The boys come home and want to play it but... Dang it all to hell, the parents are watching some sci-fi action flick. Oh well. Knock the PlayStation 4 on, grab a couple of controllers and remote play the PS4 on your bedroom telly via PS Vita TV.

Ok I've had time to let this digest. I was caught off guard, I had no idea there was going to be a pre-TGS conference.

The PS Vita TV is... a brilliant fucking move from Sony. I see lots of Kotaku commentors saying this is a dumb, but I don't think they get it. You need to think of this as a $100 (potentially less in NA... that is, if we get it) remodel of the PS Vita. For that price point they'll sell a lot of these, which will make developing for the Vita a safer bet for developers... which means more Vita games. I can see this being sort of an entry level Vita. I have yet to meet someone who actually owns a Vita and doesn't love it.

I'm confused how it's going to work with the touch inputs many games require.

Though if it's really $100 I could totally see myself getting this.  Though I'd prefer they did Vita-to-PS4 crossplay so I didn't have to buy more hardware.

*Edit* - Either way, Gravity Rush on the TV?  Yes please.

*Edit 2* - Just saw that it only outputs up to 720p/1080i.  What is this, 2008?  I get that it's a cheap ass micro console thing, and I definitely don't expect the games to be rendered at that high res, but seriously.

Hopefully it adds DS4 support later on. That'll take care of a lot of the touch screen problems.

The PS4 -> Vita TV support seems awesome, we only have one TV at the moment, but it'd be great to get a bedroom TV and do some PS4ing in there. I wonder if the planned PS3 remote play to Vita support means we'll be able to stream PS3 games to other TVs as well?

The biggest reason I haven't bought a Vita is because I don't like Handheld gaming. I'd rather play on a TV and don't commute enough to need one on the go. I just would like to play games such as Assassins Creed: Liberation, Uncharted, and Killzone Merc. If a lack of touch input means I can't play those games, I'll hold off on buying it right now.

EDIT: Why wouldn't they make a PS Vita Paid app for your PS3? I would pay $50 for an app on the PS3 to play Vita games. There must be something more to it than I'm aware of.

This may be a stupid question...

But, I have a USB charger in my car...where you just plug in a usb into a carcharger...port. And that allows me to charge both my Wife's Iphone and my Android.

I notice with my ps vita that I have to plug in the vita's USB attachment into the wall charger....could I just stick it into the car charger? Or would/could that fry it?

No way in hell I'm gonna try it out unless I find out before hand if it's ok lol

This is on the Sony website:

You can also charge your system by connecting it to a USB device such as a computer using the USB cable. When charging your system using a USB device, turn off the power completely. You cannot charge your system when it is in standby mode. To turn off the power completely, press and hold the power button for two seconds, and then select [Power Off] on the screen that appears.

so it should be OK, though by the sounds of it not that useful.

I plugged it in to one of those on a road trip, had no problems, charged just fine.

edit: saw Gerbil's post.  Oops, plugged it in and played it at the same time... again no issues.
