TheMightyEthan
Okay, this is pretty badass. Destiny is pretty hard due to the latency, but Shadow of Mordor is great, so I think as long as a game isn't super twitchy remote play should work wonderfully. TCP
Yeah works great for Assassins Creed and games like that, I imagine Dragon Age will be great once I can finally get into it. They updated recently to let you change your quality settings from the PS TV, and I found it runs even better if you put the quality to medium (there's two settings, whatever the lower one is) and the drop in quality isn't too noticeable when I'm sitting 8 feet away from my 40" bedroom TV. TheMightyEthan
I'm sitting about 10 feet from a 47" and at that distance I can't even tell it's not a 1080p stream. There are occasional compression artifacts, but for the most part the picture quality is fantastic.
Mister Jack
Does anyone know if it's possible to change which shoulder buttons the PS vita L and R correspond to in remote play? I want to play Dragon Age but for some idiotic reason the shoulder buttons are bound to L1 and R1 instead of L2 and R2 like in every other remote play game I've ever played. TheMightyEthan
Nope, it's set by the game developer. Speaking of which, I was remotely playing Dragon Age from my parents' house last night. I was shocked that there's basically no more latency than when I'm playing from the living room of my own house.
Mister Jack
Everything about the remote play for DA is fantastic except the retarded control scheme. What the hell was Bioware thinking? In what universe am I going to use the R1 ability button more than the attack button? They really need to fix that.
TheMightyEthan
In the universe where you're playing with the tactical view as God intended.
Vecha
I've been wondering... Would you guys think of getting the next PSportable system? Whenever, if ever, it comes out in the next...3-5 years? Or would you be leery with the somewhat poor support from Sony?
Mister Jack
If you bought a vita at launch, or at anytime before June 2012, you should keep an eye out for an email from Sony. They recently settled a false advertisement suit with the FTC, and vita early adopters will receive a choice between a check for 25 dollars of 50 dollars in PSN credit. TCP
THIS BETTER FUCKING APPLY TO CANADA. We got the same ads here. Those misleading ads got me, they got me bad.
TheFlyingGerbil
What was misleading about the ads?
staySICK
They downplayed the fact you need a ps3 and vita copy of the games in order to pick up where you left off, not all games supported, varying requirements before saves could be transferred, lack of typical of multiplayer, lack of remote play compatible ps3 titles, I believe
Mister Jack
They also implied you could use the 3g version to do multiplayer without Wi-Fi, which you can't.
TheMightyEthan
And they specifically advertised Killzone 3 remote play, which it never supported. I'm so pissed about this though. You have to have bought the thing before June 1, 2012, and I fucking bought mine on June 15!
Mister Jack
How do you remember that? Or is there a way to look it up?
TheMightyEthan
It was in an article about the settlement. *Edit* - Oh, unless you mean the date I got it, I remembered that cause I looked at my Amazon order history.
Mister Jack
I bought mine in a store. I'm pretty sure I got mine on launch day but for some reason the playstation account page shows your registered devices but not when they were registered. Eleven
Anyone here using a PS Vita grip, like this one? http://amzn.to/1BFtwPN I'm wondering if I should get this one (this one has an additional battery/charge), or one with good triggers.
Mister Jack
If you do find one with good triggers, do let me know. I bought the PDP one, and while the grip is certainly very nice, the triggers are....mediocre.

Far to squishy for my liking, they feel like I'm pressing a sponge.
TheMightyEthan
I've got a Hori grip very similar to this one, and I love it, but it doesn't have any new triggers or anything.
Thursday Next
I have that one too. It's good.
Mister Jack
Sadly, new triggers are the main reason I wanted a grip but nobody seems to have perfected that yet. I've only seen a few grips that even try.
TheMightyEthan
Once you have actual grips for your fingers it makes using the existing shoulder buttons a million times more comfortable.
Thursday Next
@Ethan, thoughts on this being available to non-USA folk? (Unlikely, but they haven't specifically excluded us). https://vitaclaims.com/Portals/0/Documents/4488_Sony%20FTC_CFW_v5_editable.pdf Edited April 9, 2015 by Thursday Next
