Yantelope
It's not like bull shots are anything new. Yeah, it's a Sony trailer. I thought bull shots were implied. Time to go watch the PS3 game trailers again and relearn what bull shots are. Sony is the king of BS when it comes to selling their new hardware. deanb
Aye it's all my housemate is waiting on for confirmation. He's liking the larger size too as he hopes it means he doesn't have to use The Claw anymore.
Yantelope
Probably totally unreliable: http://hardocp.com/news/2011/02/09/gamestop_leaks_ngp_date_price63
deanb
Yeah I'm pretty sure there was a thing a while back on how Gamestop staff can fake those, just enter new stock in the system n voila. It'd be nice if it was that price mind. Also new years day? Seems very...default setting to me.
Yantelope
If the NGP was really $300 I'd seriously consider getting one. I'm thinking about getting an iPod touch right now but if the NGP can play MP3s and DivX movies then I'd much rather have the NGP.
Thursday Next
That chart has me totally pumped for NGP. Go charts!
deanb
You should re-check it Just noticed it's not the updated one. I hate that WP didn't over-write the images, just amended to -2 then -3. Kind of annoying.
MasterDex
I can't really see the NGP being any more than $300. I can see it maybe being $350 at most but Sony won't want to price themselves out of the largest demographic and it's not going to look too attractive if the NGP costs more than a PSP. I've heard the argument made that they're going after the iPad/iPhone "up-market" demographic but I believe they'd be incredibly stupid to do so, especially with 3rd party developer support for a new Sony handheld being a hard sell after the PSP. The NGP is packed full of technology and it's certainly going to be more expensive than the 3DS but I think it'll be a reasonable price. WTF
I'm of the opinion that they'll price it lower, though recent Shuhei comments of having the PSP exist alongside the NGP probably means it'll be priced above that for sure. My reasoning is that if it is easier to develop on the device and it does seem to have a better turnaround, dev costs would definitely be lower. We know that apps sell on itunes for a profit. The more expensive titles are usually titles by Square at £12 while most console pubs tend to price their games between 1.59 and 5.99. If dev costs are similar the whole sale price before markup will include a profit and even selling games at the current RRP/MSRP of PSP games would mean there's a good chunk of profits there. There's been more than rumours that gamestop have some sort of NDA in place with Sony about the NGP/PSP2/whatever it may be called. (Though I believe that's mostly for retail exclusive dlcs which would be included in the cart when you buy them (eliminating the need to download them)). So if PSP titles are sold at the current price they could take a hit on hardware profits while making it through software cuts for the initial period (before it gets pirated/hacked like every gadget/device gets these days). I believe they could be gambling on the fact that by the time that happens the component costs would go down that they could effectively make a profit out of the device itself. This also gives them a slight advantage over the 3DS as the games on the 3DS cost a little more than their DS counterparts. So even if the device is sold at a slightly higher markup, they can say their media are cheaper and thus it works out better for the customer in the long term. Just a thought really. WTF
Dates... Dammit. 11/11/11 is a little too early for me. December please . Regardless sounds like an expensive month.
staySICK
that date is fine with me, I'll wait at least 6 months for the initial problems to subside and get a decent look at the library.
CorgiShinobi
Alright, I've got one Christmas gift... wait, I'm in my 20's and I can't get away with having my parents spend X amount anymore!
Yantelope
Oh crap, I forgot about the NGP recently although I don't know how. The wife talked me out of getting a smartphone but I think I'm going to make her get me one of these as a tradeoff She wants another kid so I'm gonna use that as leverage to get me a sweet new NGP.
Yantelope
In order to keep the E3 predictions thread clean I'll revive this one. Have they said if NGP is PSP backward compatible? Also, if they announce MGS 6 for the NGP then I'll probably buy one.
TheMightyEthan
I think (though I could be wrong) that they said that the NGP won't have any physical media, but i don't think they've said whether or not it will be bc with downloadable PSP games. CorgiShinobi
There's no chance you'll be able to play UMD games on the NGP. With that touchpad on the back, I don't see there being any room for a disc drive component. There will probably be a method for the PSN downloadable PSP games though. Yantelope
There will probably be a method for the PSN downloadable PSP games though. Yeah, that's kind of what I'm interested in. I never got to play Peace Walker.
TheFlyingGerbil
The NGP will be using flash cards as the game medium (and I'm sure downloadable too).

Yantelope
I kind of prefer using an SD card for storage but screw Sony if they try to go memory stick again.
deanb
The RAM isn't too huge a loss, at least the CPU n GPU are intact cos they were sweet. ()Just for comparison but the NGP now has on-par RAM with the PS3. Though half the VRAM) The loss of internal storage is a huge kick in the teeth though, especially if they go with Memory Stick. Because internal space would be needed for saves and DD/DLC n such. And Memory Sticks aren't cheap. It'd feel more like they didn't remove it to save space, but to sell more memory sticks. Mal
Wait... they're still hanging on to their memory sticks? I thought they were dead.
deanb
They're pretty much the de-facto storage format in most if not all sony electronics. And they sell more than enough to keep SD at bay.
