Yantelope
Yeah, 360 used the Unified memory architecture which turned out to be super smart. Lots of devs hate being stuck with 256MB of VRAM on the PS3. Hopefully the Vita will be able to access that 512MB of RAM for video.
deanb
http://us.playstation.com/corporate/about/press-release/playstation-vita-expands-its-entertainment-experience.html There you go. deanb
What about the multi-use port?
Yantelope
It's so specific "Multi-use port (for USB data communication, DC IN, Audio [stereo Out / Mono In], Serial data communication), " that it leads me to believe that if it's not listed it's not going to happen. Yantelope
Sony is going to sell every Vita game on the PSN so the thought occurs to me that they should make the prices of the games on the PSN exactly the same as Sony's price to distributors since the online game will not need to be packaged and shipped. Perhaps they tack on 5 cents to cover the bandwidth. Then the thought occurs to me that this may piss of retailers and they may begin refusing to sell PS Vita games. So my question is this: Would retailers be pissed about being put at a price disadvantage and refuse to sell Vita games? Any insiders care to comment? Mister Jack
Maybe that's what they SHOULD do...but they won't. It's wishful thinking.

So my question is this: Would retailers be pissed about being put at a price disadvantage and refuse to sell Vita games? Any insiders care to comment? My thoughts are that they're not going to make the digital versions cheaper for exactly the reason you've described. Since at this point retail versions are far more profitable than their digital counterparts, it would be suicide for Sony to piss off retailers by making it cheaper and more convenient to buy online. IIRC, there were a couple of retailers who refused to carry the PSP Go on launch because, to them, a PSP Go was practically a profitless transaction. They made more money on games, and since the PSP Go was digital only, there was absolutely no reason for retailers to sell them.
deanb
PSN prices for PS3 games is also pretty laughable. Usually coming out months from release in the £45 and up range.
Yantelope
It's just an interesting question because to a customer you don't have any incentive to not buy a retail copy other than saving a couple of bucks. I suppose the only advantage you'd get from a digital copy is not having to carry around the flash cards.
Faiblesse Des Sens
There's also the matter of having everything in one place (which is why I love Steam and don't like to use other services, consolidation) and not having to travel to the actual store. To me, digital is just simpler.
Chewblaha
I think I may actually pick up a Vita once a few more stuff is introduced. Or maybe a little while it, but this powerhouse does indeed have me interested. Hmmm...
TheFlyingGerbil
I'm still waiting for clarification of how 3G version will work before I make a decision. though I don't think I'll be getting one in the first year as I just got a 3DS and will be getting a Wii U next year. Chewblaha
I'm pretty sure it's going to have some kind of data plan. At least 30 a month. I will never do that.
TheFlyingGerbil
You can buy it from normal retailers so you must be able to buy it on PAYG. No idea how much it will cost though but I'm betting it's too much to hope it would be liek the Kindle and have free data. Yes I know it would use more data than a Kindle but it could be free just for the game related stuff and PAYG for the non-core opertions stuff. DarkMalice
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/08/30/atlus-teasure-website-is-for-persona-4-the-golden-for-playstation-vita/ I will love this device. I will love it with all my heart. There will be nothing stopping me from buying this device. Not even my death.
Saturnine Tenshi
Hurray, another Persona re-release. At least we don't get those often.

Yes I know it would use more data than a Kindle but it could be free just for the game related stuff and PAYG for the non-core opertions stuff. If they kindle-ise the game downloads, then the network cost could be built in to the software purchase. I suppose they could do a PS+ / Xbox LIVE style paid subscription if you want to do online gaming via 3G, but I'd imagine the connection speeds would be rank. That just leaves voice, text and other data stuff. Text is cheap, so that could be kindle style (software purchases could fund it), voice and general web browsing, downloading and streaming stuff other than from PSN would be an issue. Strangelove
http://kotaku.com/5835996/theres-a-persona-4-for-playstation-vita-and-a-persona-fighting-game-too# Uiezel guy acts like such an idiot sometimes. I used to think he was ok. Shinta too. Theyre far too Japocentric for their own good. I can just imagine the veins popping out of his face as he types all of this. DarkMalice
Meh. That's what happens when you let things get to you. Trying to call out the "pro-hate Nintendo/3DS" hipocracy is kind of silly since any portable would be criticized if it was in its position. Example would be that if the Vita came out next year and the only "must have" title in consumer's eyes was Persona 4 at release or until the holidays.....yeah, that would be a problem. He goes on to say that the 3DS has great games because he bought so many, but unfortunately, that's his opinion and not the general consensus. Saturnine Tenshi
Great games don't sell a system. Popular games sell a system. The 3DS would need more popular games, quicker.
