Have you ever bought a game for someone else?

Have YOU ever bought a game (or Hardware) for any of your friends as a present?

Have you wished you kept it for yourself?

Last week I found a PS2 Toy Story 3 bundle on the Road. I gave it to my friend while also giving him my copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence. That same week, because I'm such a bro I bought him Halo: Reach Legendary edition.

Some years ago I also mailed my copy of LittleBigPlanet to a friend, I haven't talked to her in months unfortunately, but I did hear she was planning on getting LBP2 so I guess she liked it.

In ye olde times, I'd buy friends Vidja games for birthdays only. Nowadays, with Steam, I find it's more easy to gift someone a game, especially when Steam has sales and group sales for games, so I can buy a four pack of a game and gift them to friends so we can play together / talk about them. Steam also helps me saving in shipping costs and allows them to instantly receive the game and download at their own leisure. (Also, nowadays, all my friends play PC games, so I don't have to ever worry about console games, which makes it even easier.)

I bought my exgirlfriend final fantasy 9 since she had and liked ff8. I also bought her resident evil 2. I dont remember why.

she only had a ps1 and a handful of games. Only games she had were ff8 and umjammer lammy.

she was pretty cool.

Too bad she turned out to be such a bitch.

Stupid bitch.

I bought Okami for a friend, ages ago.

And I remember finding some sort of rollerblading game on PS2 for another friend who really liked the demo but could never find the game (it was pre-owned and cheap, but he enjoyed it). I gave my copy of LEGO Star Wars II to this same friend, because I bought the complete saga, and he's a Star Wars fan. Doubt he ever actually bothered playing it even though I'm sure he'd enjoy it.

I grabbed Prey as a part-gift for someone else because it was only £4 and I think he liked the demo.

More recently I got Ghostbusters on Wii for my sisters.

Pretty sure I must be missing some stuff. I'll have to think on that. Generally, friends and I have enough money to buy what we want when it's available.

I bought the same person Tales of the Abyss, Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and IIRC one Kingdom Hearts game or another. She's bought me a few games too though ... but she also has a job x.x

Oh, just recently I bought Midnight Club LA: Complete Edition for a friend so we could play together (the store had like 4 copies of them, good price).

I usually give away movies of mine, but I've received video games from gamer friends/associates before.

It was only once, but back when LostWinds came out, I doubted its quality. There was someone who was rabid for the game, so much that he gifted the game to me. I appreciated the gesture, but it was kinda weird receiving a game from a stranger.

I've wanted to give away some of my old gaming stuff before too. Hasn't happened yet, but right now I'm trying to be nice and give away my DS Phat to a friend who's DS Phat was thrown out by her roombitches. She says it would distract her, but eventually she would accept it.

You gave the Witcher to me, Dean.

I've gifted 5 games on Steam, and beside Steam I've given games as gifts on numerous occasions.

Also, is there a way to check how many have been gifted to me, or do I just have to count and hope I don't forget any?

And I've been gifted some games too, thanks guys! \m/ \m/

From what I remember I received:

Defense Grid The Awakening

The Witcher Enhanced Edition

Fear Complete pack (or something like that).

As far as I can remember that's it :P

My buddy was going to hold out to play Mega Man 9 with the X-BOX D-PAD so he could get ACHIEVEMENTS. I kno rite! I couldn't let him suffer like that; and gifted it to him on Wii before it was released on X-Box.

I also supply my mom with games cause she doesn't know what to get. Got her the pop-cap collection on Steam and a few of the indie packs; casual puzzley stuff mostly.
