AcidCrownie
Post up your favorite mods here. (PS: Links would be awesome) One of my favorite mods is the Star Wars full conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire (which is turning out to be a favorite around here.) http://kotaku.com/5614059/star-wars-mod-fulfills-fanboy-dreams - There's some great information. http://sins.imperial.cc/index.cgi?id=sins - There's the mod. Personally, I rarely mod a game (being primarily being a 360 gamer), but there are plenty of experienced modders on here. They'll definitely be willing to help, so ask away! deanb
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ http://www.dragonagenexus.com/ http://www.tesnexus.com/ For anyone who wants to get started on modding their games those sites are golden. I've only modded Dragon Age to add in a couple armour sets and one of the texture correction patches. Fallout New Vegas I'm waiting on my first vanilla run before I mod it. Oblivion I modded to hell and back when I got it on PC (First playthrough was on Tom's PS3 copy) I wouldn't know off the top of my head what I got. I know one tweaked the UI to be more PC friendly, so smaller fonts, reworked menu. Also Arrive by Ship. Cos I kinda don't want to be replaying the start all over again. With that one you fill out hte Ships ledger for your details. It's one thing I'm concerned with on the new engine, if it'll be as moddable. Cyber Rat
A new set of mods has always added a week of gameplay for me. Modded Oblivion makes a bad game good, and modded Morrowind a great game excellent. I think my favorite Oblivion mod was a level randomizer for monsters and loot. It's one thing I'm concerned with on the new engine, if it'll be as moddable. I honestly hope it is. I remember how Morrowind was amazing with mods, and then when Oblivion came out, it didn't even ship with a construction set. Not only that, but Bethesda made a bunch of their own crappy mods and put them up for sale.
AusKossy
I just go through FPS Banana every so often to find my mods.
Bouchart
http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 There are a lot of good Civilization mods at this forum. I posted a link to Civ4's mod forum, but if you go back a few screens you can find mods for all the Civ games.
Lyssa
Modded Oblivion makes a bad game good, and modded Morrowind a great game excellent. Quoted for truth. I stopped playing Oblivion because of the crappy localization (first time that ever happened to me, but it was literally unplayable in German) and because every character I made looked like a mutated cow on two legs, so even after I got the English version, I couldn't bring myself to play it again. I did love Morrowind, especially with several mods installed, so I'd like to give Oblivion another go. Can anyone recommend some Oblivion mods, preferably some that make the characters look better (and by "better", I don't mean "like a anime girl")? deanb
http://www.moddb.com/mods/dino-d-day A commercial release of this is coming end of March. A limited beta at the start. Mod is still free, I'm gonna check it out.
TheMightyEthan
So... How do we get in on the limited beta?
deanb
Check their site over the coming week. There's only 1000 keys so I guess entry requirements may be pretty stringent. http://www.dinodday.com/
deanb
Meh. Can't get Dino D-day running. How are you Ethan? Also I'm gonna install this Desura thing and see what it offers. Heard good things on it.
NeoStarr
Been playing this SC custom map a bit. It's essentially DotA without the bullshit; no experience, no creeps, no upgrades, just a straight up 3v3 with a bunch of abilities. Also; did I just see a Nazi triceratops with a mounted turret? Day one purchase.
Vargras
The only mod that I've ever actually used extensively has been SMOD for Half-Life 2. Made the game so damn goofy and fun. I've used a talent respecialization addon for Dragon Age: Origins as well.
TheMightyEthan
I used Garry's Mod a lot back like 5 years ago.
deanb
http://news.bigdownload.com/2011/03/24/gmod-com-beta-test-aims-to-make-game-mods-easier-to-find-and-ins/ I dunno. ModDB seems pretty good for now. Along with the various Nexus.com sites. And there's Desura if you want a client based solution, but that has a pretty limited selection (the process is pretty quick n painless though for finding and installing mods. Kinda works like Steam. AgamemnonV2
Since I belong to the PC gaming master race ( ), I'm big on modding. I've written up two mod lists for Oblivion and FO3 here (albeit they are a bit outdated now). I can't play Civ 4 without playing CCV (or better known as Community Civilization V). Then there's Kingdoms Grand Campaign for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms (again, can't play without that). My third-party mod-of-choice for M2:TW, however, is definitely Third Age: Total War. Then there is Floris for Mount&Blade (again, cannot play without that). Although I play it with a combination of Diplomacy as well. As for M&B online play, it's cRPG all the way. Then there's probably a slew of minor or third-party additions to any number of games I play (The Witcher, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc.). I like to flex this every chance I get to all the console folk.
deanb
I've yet to install it but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNnyTPGrx9c now I've seen it in action I'm definitely going to have a shot with this myself. also
CrowKnow
Pretty impressed by this one. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=221352#p3180588
Mal
So, GTAIV is pretty amazing with mods. A bitch to install correctly though... to the point I haven't gotten it to run in its full glory. Hell, in the process to install the current one on 1.0.4.0..... I fucked it up. sigh... I'm going to get my brother on this. He's pretty good on these stuff. Mister Jack
Reviving this old thread because I've been playing this mod recently and it kicks ass. I beat Blood once before on the PC, but playing it again in VR practically makes it feel like a new game for me. I never realized just how much VR can enhance those old school boomer shooters like this one. Not only is it cool to be completely immersed and be able to freely aim with your hand, but the modders even changed how some weapons are used. In these old shooters you never really needed to worry about reloading and the same applies here, but back then all you really had to do was hold down the mouse button and the game would play whatever animation it had to. In this mod if you want to throw the TNT you need to flick open your lighter and bring it to the fuse manually. To use the aerosol flamethrower you hold the lighter in front of the spray can yourself. Using the voodoo doll is no longer an automatic process but instead the game will target whatever is in your direct line of sight and then you personally jab the needle in over and over until your enemy dies. Or you can use the secondary death spell by physically waving your hand over the doll. Finally, on a less impressive but no less useful note, you can jab your pitchfork in any direction rather than just directly in front of you, which is great for handling all those rats that run up to bite your ankles. I really hope we continue to see more old school games enhanced and modernized for VR like this. Imagine something like playing Mike Tyson's Punch-Out with actual dodges and punches or playing Descent with an actual cockpit. It's a very exciting time for VR.
