Trade Shows

So I guess this would be the big one if possible. Basically just wondering if folks are maybe planning to pop along to any tradeshows and if maybe meetups would be a good idea? It's maybe stupid I'm suggesting this since for certain I won't be able to do 2 of them. (also I may of missed some out)

So this years events are:

US

PAX East -11-13th March (this may be a bit late now) Boston, Mass

PAX Prime - No idea, Seattle, Washington.

Blizzcon - Oct 21-22, Anaheim, California

Europe

Eurogamer Expo - 22-25 Sept, Earls Court, London

Gamescom - 17-21 August, Cologne, Germany

GAMEfest - 14-18th September, NEC, Birmingham

Japan

Tokyo Game Show - No idea, Tokyo

If I'm missing any, pipe up. Those are the ones I know off the top of my head.

maaan, the fact that TGS '11 or '12 could be like a 30% of reality for me just gets me all pants excited.

Was hoping to already be in Japan, but *crosses fingers* hopefully we'll hear something this year.

This year is all jacked up, but I'm thinking of starting planning this year for a Comic-Con 2012 trip with some friends in the (more likely) event that wife doesn't get this job and we're still in the States next year.

Doesn't blizzcon sell out ridiculously fast?

PAX Prime, perhaps - I've always wanted to go, and one of my best friends lives an hour and a half from Seattle.

It would be awesome to meet and hang out with some of you folks at a came con! I've never gone to one and always wanted to.

I'm pretty positive I'm gonna go to the Eurogamer Expo.

Though my first week of 3rd year will either be the week of the 19th or the week of the 23rd, so it's a bit tight Uni wise, but christ I want to go. May bring my blogging partner too. And meeting any of you guys would be swell.

Gah. That's the weekend I'm away for a friend's wedding.

Not really much of a friend if they go organizing weddings during game expos. How inconsiderate can you get?

Anyway, I reckon there is about a dozen of us from the fair British Isles. (Few more if folks are up for crossing the Irish sea)

If there was some kind of meet up it'd rock and definitely be worth going.

edit: actually lets work this one out:

Myself, Hottie, Thursday, WhatTheFrag, Octane, SFLegend, Dave Strife, Kenshi, Gerbil. Then across the sea, Jayc4life, Excel, MasterDex.

Okay maybe that Dozen was including the Irish. And I swear I must be missing people. (especially ones who haven't let their nationality be known)

edit2: Moose

I would like to go, but I'm already planning a trip to the UK in July thanks to this: http://uk.sonispherefestivals.com/ So I'm not sure returning there some months later is possible as far as money goes. :P

Still, considering there are a lot of dudes from here going to that Expo I'll try to be there too! :P

Well mentioned it to my two housemates. Ben was out at the time but I mentioned it to Tom and...well spent the next hour looking at trains n hotels n stuff. He's well up for it. Ben took a bit of convincing, primarily cos he doesn't have the cash for it all now, but didn't seem to realise he probably will in the future, and even the tickets we can loan him the cash for that. (he already owes me £80 anyway, £24/36 isn't much more on top of that) So now he's up for it too.

It works out £8 for regular ticket (per day) or £12 for early access (gets you in at 10am instead of 11am)

We looked about n found a Travelodge for £35pn near Regents park.

So we're all priced up, and I think maybe buying the tickets tonight.

So we're at this stage 80% going.

Speaking of that, one of the things I have to check before buying the tickets and stuff is that, do you personally recommend that Travelodge thing? Or anyone else, do you recommend any hotels close to the Expo and stuff?

I might drop by if I'm in London. I'm unsure at the moment as I'm scheduled to visit Dubai and see my parents (they'd migrated there a while back) sometime in September-November. And maybe visit India as well.

Of course if I'm doing some camera work for someone then I might attend the press day. Been there twice like that.
