Cyber Rat
So, kinda inspired by Ethan's thread, I'm gonna try and finish up all the stuff I've bought but never played on Steam and post my thoughts on them. This is to prove that I can defeat the evil Steam Demotivator: Here's the list of games I have. Red means barely or never played, orange means played but not finished (or not played enough in case of MP games), green means finished (or played a lot in case of MP games), purple means I played it a lot beyond finishing it. A.R.E.S. Amnesia: the Dark Descent And Yet It Moves Audiosurf Beat Hazard BIT.TRIP BEAT Champions Online Chime Dark Void Zero Droplitz The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Eversion Freedom Force Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved Gish Half-Life Half-Life 2 Half-Life 2: Episode 1 Half-Life 2: Episode 2 Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Half-Life: Blue Shift Half-Life: Opposing Force Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Jolly Rover Left 4 Dead Left 4 Dead 2 Lumines Madballs in Babo: Invasion Magic: the Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers Magicka The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom Monday Night Combat Monkey Island 2: Special Edition Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee Osmos Plain Sight Portal Puzzle Agent Puzzle Dimension QuantZ Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale RUSH The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition Serious Sam HD: the First Encounter Serious Sam HD: the Second Encounter Shatter Super Meat Boy Team Fortress 2 Team Fortress Classic Torchlight Turba Worms Reloaded Any suggestions where I should start? I intend to play TF2 and MNC when given the chance. But a lot of stuff is SP.
Johnny
Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Really, there is no other place to start.
deanb
Also Stream it. Or at least record it or something.
Cyber Rat
I would like to record it, but I have no idea what program to use for that. FRAPS takes too much disc space and I have very little. I could try livestreaming, I guess and then just linking the saved stream to everyone? Also, I only had the last level of A.R.E.S. left so I finished that. Pretty short game (I heard it's supposed to be episodic) and lots of Engrish. Don't think it was worth the full price, but oh well.
Enervation
The only thing I can say to people who haven't played Amnesia yet: Just play it. Play it right up to before you enter the Refinery. You will be able to judge then whether or not you are truly worthy (or ready). Also Cyber, I noticed you had Worms Reloaded on your list. How is it? I was a big fan of Worms Armageddon and I played it quite a bit in my youth.
Cyber Rat
Also Cyber, I noticed you had Worms Reloaded on your list. How is it? I was a big fan of Worms Armageddon and I played it quite a bit in my youth. It's in HD and offers more customization, but has less weapons and only 4 worms per team. It's good for short burst like any Worms game. It was also pretty console-y when I last played it, maybe some patches fixed it up. My suggestion is getting it when it's on sale if you like Worms in general.
Bizzenya
I agree with the Amnesia love. I only had a chance to play the demo, but it has a great atmosphere and creepy enemies.
Cyber Rat
Started playing Amnesia. Sadly, the game doesn't seem to like the LiveStream program and crashes whenever I use it :/

excel_excel
Just my games bought on Steam games?? Z'okay! Counter-Strike: Source Half-Life: Source Half-Life Deathmatch: Source Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Half-Life 2: Lost Coast Half-Life 2 Half-Life 2: Episode One Half-Life 2: Episode Two Left 4 Dead 2 Machinarium Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter Serious Sam Classic: The Second Encounter Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Team Fortress 2 This is actually great as I'm not buying games for a while, trying to save money and I have all these ones to play and finish, not to mention my non-Steam games! Damn Steam sales always rock Edited February 4, 2011 by excel_excel
McBeeferton
Egh. Steam games are lingering in my library waiting to be played and I have an excuse for all of them. Alien Swarm: Somewhat just uninteresting, but mostly no friends ever play it. Audiosurf: Was awesome back in the day, but now it's just kind of boring. Beat Hazard is better. Borderlands: Played online, stopped reading so much what was going on in the quest details and lost interest. Deus Ex: Fucking hard. Half Life 2 and Ep 1: Don't want to play it until I get the first one. Portal: Beat it too many times already. Team Fortress: Lost interest with all the items that get added. The Witcher: It's a complex RPG that I don't feel like playing unless I have a lot of dedicated time. (Non-Steam Games that are still in my library.) Minecraft: OCD runs rampant. My Sims: Too embarrassed to play while anyone is around. SimCity4: I fucking suck at SimCity.
Cyber Rat
Magicka is now green. The game is awesome and well worth the full price, especially considering how long the levels are on the first playthrough and that it has multiplayer. Some screenshots from multiplayer with fellow Kotakuites.
TheForgetfulBrain
My list would scroll embarrassingly far, so I'm not going to post it. Right now I'm working on working through Jade Empire, though.
excel_excel
Half Life 2 DONE! woo! Now onto the episodes and Serious Sam HD's annnnd more Left4Dead too and KOTOR!
TheMightyEthan
Hey brain, do you know if Jade Empire works with a 360 pad?
Cyber Rat
Added Serious Sam HD: the First Encounter to the green list. Technically, I haven't played enough of the HD version, but I played the old one enough, so one playthrough of the HD game is enough for me at the moment (MP sessions excluded, of course). Yantelope
My Backlog has grown fast over the last month. I recently bought a ton of games on there and can't catch up. Aliens vs. Predator Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight Dragon Age: Origins Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Empire: Total War FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage Grand Theft Auto IV Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Just Cause 2 Napoleon: Total War SimCity 4 Deluxe Tropico 3 - Steam Special Edition This list only includes the games in my account I still intend to finish. I also have Crysis 2 to finish.
Kovach_
I've got a lot as well. Lets see... Audiosurf - Need to play this a bit more Beat Hazard - Love the game, just want to play a bit more for the remaining 3-4 achievs that are based on time/songs played Company of Heroes + Opposing Fronts - I want to play this one again just for fun, great game Defense Grid: The Awakening - I have no idea why i stopped playing this, but i just can't make myself start again for some reason Greed Corp - got it for like... 2$ or so? It's ok, but i've got better stuff to play i guess Half Life 2 + Ep1 + Ep2 - Need to do another run just for the ahievs Left 4 Dead / 2- Played both a lot, just need to finish some achievs in the first game before deleting it Madballs in... Babo: Invasion - Now this game i like a lot, but just like Defense Grid, i just can't make myself play it Mass Effect - Want to do another run or two to get saves for ME2 (yeah, i still haven't played it) Monkey Island 2: Special Edition - Got it when it came out, been busy playing other games, should reserve one afternoon for it tho Plain Sight - Suicide Ninja Robots sounded like mad fun, but sadly, it wasn't Portal - Another run just for the achievs Serious Sam HD 1 & 2 - Sam deserves another run, mad fun. Shatter - I do play this every now and then, just not enough imho. Toki Tori - This is cool , but i remeber getting stuck at one puzzle so i ragequit, and i'm too stubborn to look for the solution online XD Torchlight - To lazy to mod it, don't feel like playing any Diablo-ish games atm Warhammer 40k + Chaos Rising - Want to do Chaos Rising corrupt run The Witcher: Enhanced Edition - Another run just for fun - doing it atm Worms Reloaded - Not many people playing it online, and we all know Worms SP just isn't all that. And then there's the PS3 backlog >.>
toxicitizen
My Steam backlog is way too large for me to even think about tackling it all at once. The sheer amount of games is just too discouraging. Such an endeavor would be doomed to fail. So what I do is I focus on only a handful of games at a time and just pretend the rest of the list doesn't exist Right now, my list consists mostly of games I've left unfinished. Doom 3 Deus Ex: Invisible War Fallout: New Vegas Just Cause 2 Red Faction: Guerilla There's also Tropico 3. I played it pretty much non-stop for about 2 weeks when I got it last summer but then stopped about halfway through the campaign. I grabbed the expansion during the holiday sale and have been meaning to get back into it ever since, but just can't seem to bring myself to actually play the damn game. AgamemnonV2
That's not too bad of a backlog. I've got a friend who owns about 200 games on Steam. He's only played about 60 of them. He went bat-shit during that holiday sale, picked just about every sale pack there was. I, on the other hand, am damn picky when it comes to games, and some of the ones I own on Steam I was either coaxed to purchase (because I can't have an opinion on the game unless I own it apparently) or I was mistaken in how awesome it was supposed to be. Here's what I have to work with: Audiosurf Counter-Strike: Source Dark Messiah Might and Magic Day of Defeat: Source DEFCON Empire: Total War Garry's Mod Grand Theft Auto IV Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Half-Life 2 Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Half-Life 2: Episode One Half-Life 2: Episode Two Half-Life 2: Lost Coast Half-Life: Source Just Cause 2 Killing Floor Left 4 Dead Left 4 Dead 2 Mafia II Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne Mount and Blade: Warband Neverwinter NIghts 2: Platinum Portal Sid Meier's Civilization V Stargate Resistance Team Fortress 2 The Witcher: Enhanced Edition X3: Reunion Zombie Driver It's a little disheartening how little of Civ V I play considering how big of a Civ fan I am. I guess I just wasn't that much of a fan of the changes. Oh, and X3 is hella hard to understand to play. AgamemnonV2
Jebas, you folks are crazy. Well, I can save you some trouble: skip Doom 3. All those jokes you hear about it being a 20-hour experience of fumbling around in the dark? They're true. Just Cause 2 and Fallout: New Vegas will depend on your play style. In my case, I had so much fun dicking around in JC2 that I had easily hit 20 hours in that game before I remembered I still hadn't finished the campaign. Currently I've finished 76% of the island. It's crazy how OCD I am about wanting to blow up everything in that game. New Vegas, on the other hand, will last longer if you use mods. And you probably will. Say goodbye to sunlight when you do. Yeah, I know. Those are all games I've already started playing. I have close to 10 hours in JC2 and I'm more than halfway through New Vegas. Doom 3, though... it's 20 hours long? Wow... I'm not sure I feel like playing it for that long. I didn't want to install the flashlight mod because it felt like cheating, but if it's that long, fuck it. I'm not spending 20 hours switching between gun and flashlight constantly! I've started categorizing my steam games list by "completed" "need to finish" and "not started yet" Ha, not a bad idea.
