Faiblesse Des Sens
Has From EVER released anything on PC? And what is Namco's history with that?
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
I don't know about a PC version. Logistically, it would be very hard to keep the same environment carefully crafted by From Software. There are so many elements; the particular way it saves, the random, peculiar way it matches you up with other opponents/companions; these things would be difficult to maintain on PC. I'm also convinced that PC gamers would try to mod the title. And if there's one game that should never be modified by fans, it's Dark Souls.

TheMightyEthan
And if there's one game that should never be modified by fans, it's Dark Souls. Why? Modding is part of PC gaming.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Which would be a reason why it shouldn't be ported. If anything, Dark Souls/Demons Souls is doing what everyone else should be doing with console games. Modding would ruin it.
excel_excel
How would modding ruin it? Its your choice whether to mod or not. Obviously the main server wouldn't allow modding, so you'd have the choice......

If anything, Dark Souls/Demons Souls is doing what everyone else should be doing with console games. Modding would ruin it. What's Dark Souls doing that every other game should be doing? I also don't see what the problem with modding would be. As Excel said, it's personal choice. Why would you argue against something that would have no effect on you should you wish not to have anything to do with it? Seems like your trying to force your own preferences onto others.
Faiblesse Des Sens
The randomness of the whole thing. Modding splits communities. And PVP is already sort of fucked. Modding would make it even more retarded.
Cyber Rat
The problem is that you don't need official mod support to make mods. When it hits the PC, people will be making mods right off the bat. Might as well enable it for them right off the bat. Plus, easy to make any games with modded gameplay not work online. Mal
Dark Souls on the PC can work but I think it would be more trouble than it is worth to port it right now. I would imagine if they did it right now, the port would be pretty damn broken since Dark Souls was never made with being on the PC in mind. Yes, I would love Dark Souls on the PC but I would prefer if they start planning for the next installment to be on the PC as well. Besides, PS4 and the 720. Hopefully with a much better engine! They already do so many things well, it's time they start doing everything well. I know they can do it. Pirandello
I'd imagine the combat scheme on PC (should they so pull through with it) might work something similar to Witcher 2. And PVP is already sort of fucked. Modding would make it even more retarded. As mentioned earlier, just make it so that the PVP servers won't recognize modded copies. That way, everyone wins... unless you wanted to cheat online, of course.
Faiblesse Des Sens
That brings up the issue I have with splitting the community. I mean fuck, it's not like this is going to happen anyways. Though if they did... make PS3 and PC users be able to play against each other.
Mal
I see no problem with cross platforming with a game like Dark Souls. This isn't a FPS. It would be sweet if they did that.
deanb
So Dark Souls is pretty much coming to PC. https://www.facebook.com/darksouls/posts/308379115895735 (unless they're gonna announce a sequel so soon)
TheMightyEthan
Well that's kind of exciting. So, I've got a question about this game: I've seen people refer to it as a JRPG, but from what I've seen of the game it seems more like a WRPG that happens to have been developed by a Japanese developer. What's the best way to describe it?
deanb
This is why I dislike the terms WRPG n JRPG. It's a Japanese made action RPG.
TheMightyEthan
Well they really are two entirely different genres. I agree they could do with better names though.
Faiblesse Des Sens
^Agreed. It's an action RPG with brutal difficulty and nearly 1:1 combat. Where it was made is irrelevant.
MetalCaveman
So Dark Souls is pretty much coming to PC. https://www.facebook...308379115895735 (unless they're gonna announce a sequel so soon) I hope it's a sequel. But if it's not, I would like to see cross-platform co-op and stuff, that would be cool. If it is a PC port of Dark Souls then I'll definitively buy it again if they solved the issues with Blight Town. I also hope that they include controller support, since The Witcher has shown me that I can't play games like that with mouse + keyboard. Also, I just call it action RPG, the whole JRPG/WRPG thing seems pointless to me.
TheMightyEthan
It's not pointless, they are two very different styles of game, a distinction needs to be made. But like I said the names are stupid. Anyway, "action RPG" it is for this one then. That answers my question.
Faiblesse Des Sens
What if it's DLC of the areas they didn't get to complete/put into the game?
Luftwaffles
What if it's DLC of the areas they didn't get to complete/put into the game? Then we'll sue for false advertising.
MetalCaveman
I just call them action RPG, turn-based RPG, strategy RPG, or something like that. @FDS That would be cool too, but I don't see how they would add them, I don't remember any area that you couldn't access or anything like that, though it's been a while since I last played so I may be forgetting stuff. Also: http://members.iinet...idente/died.png Not sure if it's true or not, either way, DLC, PC port, sequel, are all cool things IMO. Faiblesse Des Sens
I remember reading on /v/ that Ash Lake wasn't complete and there were other things that were supposed to be in the game/connect but had to be axed due to time constraints.
