toxicitizen
Holy shit, the end of that gameplay video! O_O Please, please be awesome! I want this game to make up for Dark Souls II so bad.

Mal
One of the few times I actually like the song for these kind of adverts. Fits pretty well.
CorgiShinobi
So I'm not sure if I should go with Dark Souls 3 on PS4 or PC. I meet the requirements on PC, just enough on the CPU. Amazon of course will have the 20% off deal. Right now Steam only wants to give me 8% off because I have Dark Souls 1 and 2 from Steam. I'm sure GMG will have a voucher, just not sure what percent off. Not to mention I still only have a 360 controller for PC and I do like my PS4 controller. I like to have a series all on the same platform, but obviously there are exceptions when going to a newer generation.
TheMightyEthan
You can plug your DS4 into your PC.
CorgiShinobi
I'll have to test it out, cause you mean DS4Windows, right?
TheMightyEthan
There's a variety of ways, but that's one of them, yes.
Mal
Squashed the rumors and maybe this time there won't be a durability bug. Maybe animation or anything is not tied to framerate... Here's hoping for From Software best port yet.
TheMightyEthan
That durability bug... I mean, that's the kind of thing that makes me go "did you even test this at all?"
CorgiShinobi
I'm set on getting Dark Souls 3 for PC, though I'll stick with my wired 360 controller. I wasn't satisfied with having to tweak settings to make my DS4 controller for compatibility. Fallout 4 for example would have two commands associated with X somehow and I couldn't figure out why in the settings. Rather than downloading a few other solutions to see if their defaults were 1:1, path of least resistance and etc. Not to mention I should be able to run that delicious 60 FPS. Hopefully if I get this new job I can actually look into upgrading some of my PC.
toxicitizen
That durability bug... I mean, that's the kind of thing that makes me go "did you even test this at all?" Honestly, that wasn't anywhere near as big a deal as people are making it out to be. I mean, tying any game logic to framerate is dumb and bad, obviously. But when I played Dark Souls II at launch, at first I didn't even realize it was a bug, I just figured they had nerfed durability. So, I upgraded myself a backup weapon to carry around with me. I had my main mace and would switch to my backup longsword whenever the mace was close to breaking. It forced me to switch up my playstyle a bit and made for some interesting variety in the combat. As far as I'm concerned, it actually added to the experience. And it's not like it actually happened all that often anyway. Bonfires are rarely very far apart and resting at one resets the durability of any weapon that isn't broken. Anyway, speaking of Dark Souls II, I should probably get around to playing Scholar of the First Sin soon. Only a month left until Dark Souls III! Also, it probably wouldn't hurt to get some Souls practice with the Steam controller while I'm at it. It was fine for a mindless action game like Dragon Quest Heroes but in Souls there is no room for error. Better be 100% comfortable with it before jumping into III. MetalCaveman
I've been looking at the PC version, specially since it's way cheaper than the PS4 version (at least in Mexico ) but I'm wondering what kind of performance I can expect, minimum requirements list a 465 and i5 2500, I have a 580 and i7 2600. Sure it's cheaper, but that won't mean much if it runs like crap and I can't play it until I upgrade my PC. Should I risk it? I'm not hoping for max everything, but would like it to look/run a bit better than on PS4, is that asking for too much?
toxicitizen
Impossible to say for sure until closer to launch (if people get pre-release access to the PC version) or after launch. The initial release of Dark Souls II was fairly well optimized, though. Haven't played Scholar yet but I don't recall hearing anything about performance issues on PC. The min specs for Dark Souls III seem to be on the low side, so I'd say that looks promising, at least. Also, if you're planning on getting it through Steam then you could always just refund it if the performance isn't good enough for you. Nothing to lose, really, so you might as well give it a shot. MetalCaveman
Yeah, I guess that's always an option, quick question though, has anyone here tried Steam refunds? Do they go back to your card/paypal/thing or is it in Steam-wallet?
toxicitizen
I haven't refunded anything myself but I'm pretty sure it goes back to whatever payment method you used. At least, that's what it says here. http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/
MetalCaveman
Cool! Thanks! Guess I'll give it a shot then.
toxicitizen
Keep in mind, the cutoff for automatic refunds is 2 hours, so you're gonna want to decide pretty quickly. 2 hours can disappear pretty fast when playing Souls.

MetalCaveman
Well... The PC version received a sudden price increase across most regions, in some cases, going into "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME" territory, in my case, it puts it on par with the console version, which means that I'll be getting it on PS4. toxicitizen
Yup, went up here as well. Even factoring in that borderline insulting loyalty discount, it went from 61$ to about 73$ (regular price went from 69.99 to 79.99$). It's not crazy high thanks to the discount but knowing that I'm being punished for not pre-ordering earlier kinda pisses me off. Normally, this is a situation where I'd exploit the shit out of regional pricing purely out of spite but I think the price hike pretty much killed that option. Guess I'll hold off and hope for a decent discount on GMG...
