deanb
So there's words floating about that they may be dropping GFWL. Or at least not all editions will be GFWL. http://www.eurogamer...or-windows-live At least it's confirmed that it uses GFWL cos they're just porting the 360 version over. MetalCaveman
More info: http://www.siliconer...night-artorias/ "There are around three to four new stages, four new bosses, a new stage for PvP, and a handful of new NPCs made for new players. Players will also be able to pick up new equipment from some of the bosses." This is awesome: "Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will allow people to travel through time to the past and play as Sir Knight Artorias" Also: "Currently we’re not planning to support any mods, because as I said, it’s a complete port of the console version." TheMightyEthan
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/17/dark-souls-pc-prepare-to-sigh/ Looks like it's a straight-port, and there won't be any of the bells and whistles PC games normally have (graphics options, etc). Faiblesse Des Sens
LOL. I love that article title. Anyways, Namco-Bandai are continuing their streak of dealing with Dark Souls terribly. From Software deserves better.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, now I'm torn between wanting to support devs/pubs porting to PC and NOT wanting to support devs'/pubs' half-assed ports to PC
RockyRan
I'm really not surprised. Short port dev time, dev inexperience in making PC games, all that jazz. To tell you the truth I would've been more surprised if it were anything BUT a straight port. Still buying this. I was planning on getting it anyway, I'd rather play the version that plays it at 1080p with a smoother framerate
MetalCaveman
So, the Artorias DLC will be available on PS3 ($15) and 360 (1200 MSP), also, it'll be available on Steam though I think you'll still need GFWL.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I do believe it's been confirmed that it's still GFWL. They can't exactly change to Steamworks that fast.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, plenty of GFWL games on Steam.

For PvP fans, there are also one on one and two vs. two modes." "You can learn an additional Dark Magic that chases an object with darkness where white light from pairs of eye sockets twinkles." Waldorf and Statler
My cousin and I are beating the game together and we've already gotten to a point further than I have ever gotten so it's nice to be in a point where neither of us knows what's behind foggy doors or in certain rooms. excel_excel
http://www.eurogamer...-devils-bargain Right, so 30FPS lock, that was sort of expected. What wasn't expected is that no matter what resolution you pick on PC, it will still output at the console Dark Souls resolution of 1024x720 and the resolution option is there for upscaling to monitors of different sizes. Faiblesse Des Sens
So yeah... it's just the console version, but on your computer. At this point this is just confirmation of expectations. At least Blighttown doesn't suck anymore. The next thing I'm wondering is how it runs. IIRC the requirements were high.
excel_excel
I thought the expectations were that there would be at least a proper resolution option, even just 16:9 options only. The way its going right now, the higher the resolution of your monitor the worse the game will look. Faiblesse Des Sens
Of course I would want it to have all of the nice PC goodies (or even the average ones) I entirely knew that From Software wasn't capable of such a thing. I'll still pick this up to support their efforts though, especially so that they can put more effort into the next PC port they do.
deanb
Doesn't picking it up send the message that "yeah your mediocre efforts are worth splashing out £30 for, do just as good again next time if you want"?
Faiblesse Des Sens
It sends the message that PC gamers are interested in their games. Japanese companies in general aren't too keen on releasing their games on PC and From Software has very, very few PC releases in their history, and only one in their recent history. That game in itself is much less ambitious than either of the Souls games. The reality of the situation is that they're under a shitty publisher who won't give them more time to work on the PC port (I really doubt they'll stick with Namco/Bandai beyond this) and that they also have very little, if any for that specific team, PC experience. This is a company that listens to their fans, which is why it's getting a PC release at all.
