Battra92
So what are the film collections of the people on this board? I currently have over 1,400 DVDs and BDs (not counting DVD-Rs of things I recorded off of television which is probably another 300 or so. I also have/had countless VHS tapes which are mostly transfered to DVD-R or replaced with purchased DVDs. Also if you use an online collection tool like DVDProfiler or DVD Aficionado or whatever post a link to your collection. Here's mine: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/battra92 Edited February 4, 2011 by Battra92
Strangelove
I have about 100 dvds and about 20 blurays. Yup. Thats about it.
Mr W Phallus
Films: Coen Brothers boxset (The Big Lebowski, The Hudsucker Proxy, Barton Fink, Raising Arizona) The Elephant Man Fargo Fight Club Ghost in the Shell The Godfather Trilogy Goodfellas Godzilla Gullermo Del Toro Collection (Pan's Labyrinth, The Devil's Backbone, Cronos) Jackie Brown Jean-Luc Godard The Ultimate Collection (14 Godard films that I can't be arsed to type out) Once Upon a Time in the West Resevoir Dogs Star Wars IV-VI TV Series: Black Books (Series 1) Brass Eye Extras (Both series and the Christmas special) Family Guy (Series 1-5) Spaced South Park (series 1&2) Garth Marenghi's Darkplace Bit of an eclectic mix, I know. It's not the entirety of my film collection, though it's a significant chunk. I have £5 or less rule when buying DVDs (single films that is) and I also use Lovfilm to watch most films so I don't own many DVDs.
deanb
I've only got a relatively small collection. My mum has a big video collection so I never needed one, so my collection is only a couple of years in the making. It's currently about 40:60 BD:DVD, but that'll increase over time (I've mostly just been buying blu-rays recently) A large chunk of my "collection" is pirated stuff, but normally if I like it I'll go out n pick it up. If I don't no loss.
Hot Heart
Coen Brothers boxset (The Big Lebowski, The Hudsucker Proxy, Barton Fink, Raising Arizona) Garth Marenghi's Darkplace I have £5 or less rule when buying DVDs (single films that is) and I also use Lovfilm to watch most films so I don't own many DVDs. I have that Coen brothers collection except there is Blood Simple instead of Raising Arizona (I'd prefer your version). Kudos on Garth Marenghi! And I actually have a £3 rule for DVDs, generally. That's more to do with trying to stop buying so many due to space issues; since £5 is still reasonable. I prefer BD but I'll only buy particular films in that format since most are a complete rip-off. I could lose a day trying to list everything I have... I do know my first two DVDs were Zoolander and Deuce Bigalow. Clearly, you can see I was quite the comedy connoisseur. Mr W Phallus
I have that Coen brothers collection except there is Blood Simple instead of Raising Arizona (I'd prefer your version). Absolute fail on my behalf, we have the same boxset I just somehow typed Raising Arizona instead of Blood Simple. Probably because I really want to see Raising Arizona. Still I dunno what I was thinking there...

staySICK
Also if you use an online collection tool like DVDProfiler or DVD Aficionado or whatever post a link to your collection. Here's mine: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/battra92 I started making one of these, I think on another site, a few years ago. It's time consuming! I should really try again, useful for insurance purposes. We have... a lot. I really don't have a count for ya. Probably not as many as you, Battra, but close. I'll see what I can whip up. eta: we have ~85 blu rays currently, including some tv seasons, anime collections (claymore, FMA: brotherhood), but I counted each season / set as one. MetalCaveman
I have around 200 DVDs, and just 10 BDs (though I'm counting the anime boxsets as only 1 each ). Also, I still have a couple of VHS movies around here.
Battra92
Probably not as many as you, Battra, but close. I'll see what I can whip up. Truth is I suffered from depression in most of my college years and lived with my parents while working and going to school. Most of my extra money went to buy DVDs. I'm actually trying to sell a good chunk of them.
staySICK
we just like movies, and truth be told, I didn't have many until I married my wife and her dvd collection. Two honest things that told me she was the one: We went to her house and she showed me her entire collection of Monty Python's Flying Circus. The fat separate collections, not the thinpacks. We watched Eddie Izzard's Dressed To Kill at my place after telling me she never heard of him, she bought a copy the next day.
toxicitizen
I have something like 60 DVDs. Only about a dozen blurays, though, so I'll list those I have. Total Recall The Running Man StarGate Sweeney Todd Sleepy Hollow V For Vendetta Pan's Labyrinth Dawn of The Dead (the 2002 Zack Snyder remake) Batman Begins The Dark Knight Dr. Strangelove and unfortunately Near Dark (Got it for 10 bucks at Best Buy because I had heard it was good and had wanted to see it for a while. Turned out to be a huge mistake since it was a fucking piece of shit) I haven't bought any in a while, but I've been meaning to grab A Clockwork Orange and 2001. Also very likely going to grab Inception since Nolan is among my favorite directors. I also need to get Watchmen. And a ton more... I couldn't possibly list all my DVDs, though. It's mostly sci-fi, horror and action. Some Star Trek. The Terminator, Alien and Predator series. All three seasons of Arrested Development, Firefly and a few seasons of South Park. Evil Dead, X-Men 1&2, some Tarantino. The usual. Edited February 6, 2011 by FLD
Mr W Phallus
Hell yeah, Arrested Development. I had to leave my boxset at home though because it belongs to my sister as well as me. Which reminds me, I forgot to mention the above list of my DVDs is just what I brought to uni with me, not everything I own.
CorgiShinobi
Ditto on Arrested Development! My sister owns the entire series, so I can't take them. I don't mind, I mean, she got the first two seasons used and they're not in the best condition.
TheFlyingGerbil
I'm still waiting for blu rays to come down in price - they are just completely stupid so I only have a couple I got as presents. I don't have many DVDs as I only buy ones I know I'll want to watch again and that I get a warm fuzzy feeling from owning. Most films - even if I enjoyed watching them I would be happy just with "Oh, that's on TV tonight I might watch that again". So, I have about two shelves full. I don't know how many that is! Enervation
I have... like. Three DVDs, at the most ten. They're all sitting around somewhere, gathering dust. I don't watch movies very much, so I never torrent them. Movies aren't really my thing.
staySICK
Here are two of our three dvd racks. The third one is smaller and mainly for television series collections and miscellaneous non-movie stuff.
Battra92
I should probably take pictures of my collection but it will be hard to take photos of cardboard boxes in a closet. T_T
