「Advent Chaos」
So I'll be getting my paycheck on Monday, and since most of my co-workers were sick I ended up with more hours (I usually worked only on weekends). For a long time I have been looking into using my youtube Channel properly by uploading actual recorded gameplay, not from a digital camera. Digging around I found the wonderful HD PVR Hauppauge 1212 which uses component to record in 720p. I can use it with my Xbox, PS3 and my Wii so I would be looking forward to doing some game reviews or "Let's Play"s. Unfortunately I am currently using a HP Laptop with Ubuntu as an OS, I'm not very knowledgeable, but I have heard that it is possible to use the PVR on Ubuntu to record. The other product I'm highly interested in purchasing would be the Sharkoon X-tatic 5.1, apparently this headset is one of the very best, the tiny HDTV I've been using (with Component) uses a regular 3.5 mm jack , so I have to rely on an adapter that combines the Left and Right output cables (Red & White) into the jack. Lately this has failed as I'm starting to notice I'm only getting Mono sound which throws me off whenever I'm being ambushed. It would also be nifty to have a headset which I can talk to better to my teammates, I was given an old 360 with a semi dead controller, but my friend wants me to get a mic so I can talk to him, so this headset doesn't look too bad. I'm torn here, I'd like some input from everyone else if possible. TL;DR Which should I get, Capture device or awesome headset?
deanb
I'd get the capture card personally. Never spent more than £40 on a headset (see no need, sounds good enough at that price. I'm no audiophile) But then again I have different uses for a capture card you might not have. So Dunno. What'd you use the capture box for? Johnny
(see no need, sounds good enough at that price. I'm no audiophile) That's what I thought until I actually tried out some of the real good stuff my friends run with.
「Advent Chaos」
What'd you use the capture box for? Some gameplay, hopefully catch some Lagswitchers on MGO and try to Ban 'em. Maybe machinima? doubt it. Definitely some video reviews.
Johnny
A tip: Don't buy a headset; buy headphones and a separate mic instead. Headsets add on much more cost for that mic than it is really worth.

All my time during MGO at least 45% has been playing against Lagswitchers.
