deanb
I'm mostly starting this for what I'm about to link, but yeah general chit chat on Android phones is welcome cos I doubt this one will generate much interest: http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/06/sony-ericsson-xperia-play-finally-official-gets-full-launch-eve/
staySICK
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/03/motorolas-atrix-4g-coming-to-atandt-on-march-6th-for-200-bundle/ AT&T totally botched the pricing on the Atrix. Charging $500 for the phone + "laptop" dock, and requiring the additional cost of a tethering plan? Even though the phone is the brains of the "laptop" and doing all the connectivity work? Charging $500 for those who want to wait on the laptop dock? I think my next AT&T phone is going to be the HTC Inspire (basically a Desire HD with HSPA+), even though its older hardware (second generation snapdragon 1ghz single core), just because HTC has a better track record of software updates, as well as dev support, meaning CM7 should be on it by the time I'm eligible for an upgrade this year. That is unless a better HTC phone comes out between now and then, or the Nexus S goes to AT&T with a subsidy. (pshyea right)
Faiblesse Des Sens
I think the phone + dock is a good deal. The phone + netbook is completely shite.
deanb
Wait, it's $300 ontop of the phone to get the dock? From my understanding it's jsut a dock, thin client. It's a screen, keyboard and a connector, and that's it. What part of that pushes it up to $300?
Faiblesse Des Sens
There's a dock and a netbook (that has a dock for the phone that turns the phone into the guts of the netbook.) Two different things. The dock itself is cheap. The netbook + phone is $500 (which is why we are saying that the pricing has killed it because as you point out... its a screen, keyboard, and connector.) staySICK
yea, there's a standard dock, then the the laptop dock, that's basically a psu, dock, screen, and keyboard, and uses the device as the brains / guts of the "laptop" The "laptop" dock costs a bundled $500 if you get both the device and the dock at launch, or $200 (upgrade / new contract) for the device, and an additional $500 if you wait and get the laptop dock down the line. And on top of that they are making you pay extra for a tethering plan on top of your standard data plan, when the phone is the guts and modem so you really aren't tethering... :head asplode: wtf
Mal
http://www.htc.com/www/product/evo3d/overview.html What the hell?
deanb
There's an LG 3D phone if that's the bit you're "what the hell"ing about. Nintendo, despite what many games outlets would have you believe, didn't invent or have exclusive rights on small parralax screens. Expect to see more in the future. Shame Android hasn't got a 3D GUI. So all you'll be doing is watching 3D films, maybe 3D games, on the go.
staySICK
probably my next phone. http://www.htc.com/us/products/inspire-att already supported by cm, so that's good.
Mal
So, today it looks like Sprint updated Froyo for the Epic. Hopefully they fixed the stupid browser crashes. I swear, 1/4 of the time I reopen my browser, it crashes.
deanb
What browser do you use?
Mal
The one it came with. I'm a bit lazy to switch but I can. Any suggestions?
deanb
Dolphin, Firefox, Mirren, Opera, skyfire. They're all generally free so you can grab them all to play with. I personally use Dolphin Mini. But I hear if you're a desktop Firefox or Opera user then they're the ones to get.

Yantelope
Well, add "crashing hard" to the list of things that droid does. After a couple of hours the screen all blurred up very bad and began shaking a lot. Back to Verizon it goes.
