Android Phones

And I got to say, the more I think about it the more I'm starting to get a bit peeved on how fast a smartphone's performance degrades. I guess it comes with packing so much tech in such a small device.

It's the low quality storage. That's specifically is what is degrading. It's also what is preventing phones from being faster than they are. I've yet to see this bottleneck addressed.

I thought the latest Origin ToS seemed a bit slim.

Also if you don't care for invites I'm rather enjoying my Moto X Style so far. The proper stereo speakers not only look pretty damn nice but sound a trillion times better than the mono at the bottom of my Note. The twist to activate camera is kinda nice (though not 100% keen on the whole "tap to take photo" thing but so far it's doing alright with the focus). Nice to have raw Android too though I'm having to learn some of the differences (I got stuck in 80 Days for a bit but that seemed more an issue with the game than OS).

Battery life is pretty damn sweet so far but atm it's not being used as a phone (not that I use my current phone with a sim in it as a phone much either) which might change when I get a SIM in it.

I would be interested in OP if they sold it here, as it stands, Mexico isn't among the countries they ship/sell to. :P I was thinking of getting the Moto X until they revealed the price, it costs the same as a Galaxy S6 over here, don't know how it compares though (aside from the Moto X having microSD compatibility and the S6 not).

I was limited to the phones carried by my carrier.  Ordinarily I would say that is a bad excuse, but in this case the plan and phone are paid for by my employer, so it's kind of hard to complain, and free but limited options is better than paying for my own out of pocket.  I could actually have gotten the G4, but it's bigger than what I want.

Yeah, I like it a lot so far.  The only thing I don't like is the lack of an SD card slot (and they only carried the 32GB version, so I couldn't get the 64), but none of the other newer phones on offer had one either so it didn't enter into my decision.

Well, except the LG G4. That is a newer phone with an SD card slot.

But if your employer is paying your data bill, who cares? You can stream media all you want. The SD card is important for me because I spend a lot of time on the subway or in airplanes where I can't stream media and I have to pay my own data bill.

Yeah, that's kind of what I decided.  The only thing it was likely to get filled up with was pictures anyway, but all my pictures automatically backup to cloud services so if that does start to take up too much space I can just delete the old ones cause they're already on my computer.

Huh, I didn't realize they got rid of the SD card slot in the S6 and Note 5. I don't mind the battery since fast charging is a thing and I have external battery packs for on the go. The SD card slot though... I carry around tons of my own music since Sprint data connects sucks in Northridge or really in general. Plus I got a lot of random crap too so unless Samsung backtracks, I guess I'm going for another brand. Like come on, I can easy kill a 32 GB or even 64 GB device. For the record, my Note 4 has 32 GB internal and a 64 (59.59 effective) GB SD card. I forget if I can do a 128 GB card but I seem to recall thinking about it.

It appears to me that ditching the SD card slot is becoming a trend, so you may not be able to avoid it simply by avoiding Samsung in the future.  When I was looking for my new phone I looked at the S6, the Note 5, a Moto phone and an LG phone, and none of them had SD slots.

It's something Google pushed for a bit (like they made it into the Android base to pretty much reject SD cards, with them suggesting you use cloud services...say like Google Drive and Google Music...). Samsung was actually quite resistant to it and for ages had been only company really doing it across all their phones. I believe reason for removal in the S6 and Note 5 is due to the new unibody build, since it's sealed shut there's no way to get an SD card in.

Thankfully Google have reverted how they deal with SD cards in Android, so might see a bit of roll out. Especially with many phone makers not really pushing for increased internal sizes, and 4G rollout not being super splended (or much higher caps)

Umm, hey Google. Can you do a Google Mobile that does something like what Google Fiber does? if you do then maybe I can even think about moving to the cloud for my phone. Until then, take a look around. I know you're not blind...

I'm puling an all nighter by the way. Might explain some weirdness about myself.
