Gah! Now I'm not sure if I charged the right person and it's eating at me!

Let me put it this way; if your boss isn't chewing the loving shit out of you, you probably did it right.

No, there's at least one case where no matter which guy you charge your boss is happy as long as you've got evidence to back it up. If hottie's thinking of the same case as me, I was only about 60% sure I charged the right guy.

I've literally restarted a case or two from the beginning because the game's told me I've interrogated incorrectly- sometimes I've done it wrong by bad judgement, but sometimes just from the lack of clarity towards which evidence means what, that others have mentioned. Which is the only big problem in my book.

The game generally saves before you start talking to someone or if you enter a location with some you can talk to. If you screw up a line of questioning, you can dashboard and load back in often right before the conversation or a few minutes away from it. (Providing you didn't leave the location the conversation took place in, thus triggering a save). Feels like cheating, but it's a lot less hassle than having to go through entire cases & non-skipable sequences all over again for a single mistake.

My only big problem is the "Doubt" function. When you hit X, you never know if Cole will say something like "I find that hard to believe" or "YOU MURDERED HER YOU ASSHOLE! GIVE IT UP!"

I really dislike that if you choose doubt and it's the wrong option, the characters can sometimes give you more information anyway. It can even be information that is helpful, but the game acts as if you were never given it in the first place.

You don't even have to go out to dashboard. Just hit start, choose exit, then load it right back up. It takes much less time than going through all the splash screens again.

Nice, that hadn't occurred to me at all. :D

Yeah, thanks chaps. Good to know. For some odd reason I was convinced (I think from what people had said online) that you can only play cases start to finish, and there's no middle ground. A lot of people on Metacritic gave it low scores due to that. Idiots.

That's the thing. He moaned at me about not being 'swift' and I thought it was more to do with me not charging who he (and Rusty) wanted charged. It's just the evidence could go either way...but one seemed more likely for it. And the game doesn't let you fact check even further after those interviews (not as in revisiting old scenes but following any new leads)

You can hit "Start" and re-read their statements under the "Log" option.

That's exactly the case me and my mother had trouble figuring out earlier this evening.

I did that and I got chewed out; did the case almost perfectly -- all clues found, only one question missed. I think it was because I totaled up a damage bill with my car.

I just finished the game. To be honest, I thought the ending

I'm not really in the mood to write out a big, long-ass review right now, so I'll just leave you with my thoughts on the ending.

Just drove what must have been the whole length of the city to respond to a despatch call for what amounted to a bank robber ditching his gun and running to then be clotheslined by a civilian. THEY DIDN'T EVEN NEED ME GODDAMNIT!

Didn't even seem to give me a chance to stop him with a warning shot beforehand.

Has anyone read la noire: the collected stories it expands on the stories/characters in the books. I'm waiting for the game to drop in price before I get it, so won't be getting the book yet either, but am wondering if it is worthwhile. I've never read game related fictoin before.

edit: Never mind it's not out until 6 June.
