I might read the books because the background and everything seem pretty cool and well-researched...plus I love that sort of thing.

And regarding the game: I've reached maximum rank so I now have 5 intuition points left for the next 5 cases?! Yikes...

I don't think I used a single intuition point on my entire playthrough.

Once you start replaying cases though you get the full 5 for each case. Like, it refills each time you start a replay of a case.

Yeah, I rarely used intuition points. Only when I was stuck with some tricky interrogations (and once or twice where I couldn't find all the clues). It's just I ranked up quite fast and you're only allowed a maximum of 5.

It's OK though because, without wanting to spoil it for others, it seems the later stuff is a bit easier and less reliant on interviews.

That's interesting, I had the exact opposite experience, it seemed to me like the later stuff was much more heavily reliant on interviews and therefore more difficult.

By 'later stuff' I mean what I said before (except I got it wrong, I only had four cases).

Oh yeah, I skipped that part too.

The one thing that annoyed me was:

Other than that, great game. Only got 5 stars on one mission though, so there's a lot of replaying to do. Again, I'm with some of you that said that there should be no audio hints or ✓/X marks in the notebook, just to leave everything totally ambiguous until you get your report at the end. Leave it for yourself to figure out what's "right". Oh, and maybe have characters provide deliberately doctored evidence to throw you off the trail too.

News of the Rockstar Pass hit this morning too. It's a one-off paymemt of $10 (until 14th June, then $12 after) that nets you all the DLC when it becomes available. Big discount buying the Pass instead of buying everything separately.

Oh, and I wish it'd tell you on the main menu if you've got all street crimes done on that desk. I've got 39/40 and can't bloody find where the last one is >:(

Finally got the game today.

It's great so far, but I was wondering.

Am I just being OCD or did you guys also feel the need to quit and restart the current section whenever you messed up a line of questioning during interrogations?

It's starting to drive me nuts! <_<

I did that the first time, but after that I realised I was gonna fuck over way too many times to warrent restarting every time it happens :P

So, I just completed the game. It was a great game. Like, the most compelling game I've played in a long, long time.

Yeah, but sometimes I just can't help myself

I think it's a mistake to have the game tell you immediately when you get a question wrong.

Would be better and less tempting if they only told you once the interrogation was over, or even at the very end of the case.

I'm on the Homicide desk now. So far loving it, even though it's pretty obvious that

I would be further along, but I started over 5 hours in. One of the reason was that I was under the mistaken impression that whenever I earned an intuition point, all it did was raise the maximum amount I could have, and that they refilled with every new case. Turns out that was wrong and I had wasted a bunch of them.

But the main reason was that I had played those five hours on the day I got the game and had reached the Homicide desk.

Then the next day the PSN store came back so I could redeem my free DLC and buy the Rockstar Pass to get the other cases.

Turns out two of them were Traffic desk and if I played them from the main menu I wasn't getting any XP from them, so I figured I'd start over.

What is weird, though is that starting over didn't reset my stats. So the first few newspapers I grabbed and dispatch calls I answered didn't really count in the new game. I also started the new game already at level 7 or 8, so I ended up getting the XP for the early cases twice.

Haha. Same thing happened to me but I was still on the Traffic desk at that point. It's a bit odd that it limits how many you can have and that you earn them via levelling up, but there's also a max rank...and you gain experience from anything...yet they completely refill for when you replay a case. It's almost as if they put no thought into it.

Seems like they should've handed one out for every five correctly judged responses or something like that.

Agreed. Team Bondi deserves a lot of credit for the originality of the gameplay alone, but some aspects of it are still a bit rough.

There's definitely room for some improvement if (or rather when) they make a sequel.

So I just beat it a few moments ago, interesting ending...

Anyone know where the hell you get the flamethrower? It's the only weapon I need to get the Use All weapons trophy.

As for the game...it was enjoyable but even at the end I still didn't like the whole Truth/Doubt mechanic. Your only clue was shifty eyes or fidgeting but I felt like half the time even if they were doing that and you chose doubt you'd be wrong. I still did OK 3 or 4 starred most of the cases but I fucking hated failing shit or getting the wrong buy on the cases I 1 starred. Just felt like there wasn't enough feedback. Also some of those god damn late game clues. I didn't want to leave an area when the music was still going but I swear I wandered around some of those arson case locations forEVER trying to find the last clue in each one.

Are we still doing a roundtable?

Flamethrower's at the end sequence. There's a room directly on your path through the sequence that has it.
