L.A. Noire

I really fucked up the last two homicide cases I did. For some weird reason, it actually upset me. I am not the type to ever throw a controller or rage at my console, but getting so many questions wrong and missing evidence that probably would have helped my interrogations bothered me. I had a huge urge to go back and redo the whole thing.

Yeah, picking the right evidence with which to confront someone can be tricky. I usually look back at the log to see the dialogue because my brain is sometimes sort of jumping ahead with regards to what has been established.

Although the last case I did (last traffic one) really bugged me because it treated some connected evidence as two separate entries. What do I use: evidence from the scene, or evidence from their location?! When the case wound up it seemed like maybe I should've picked a different conversational choice but I'm not 100% on that...

but roockstar have admitted that it is a fault and are working on a patch. Unless the patch flashes a popup saying you've played enough for one day then it is a genuine fault.

No they haven't. They said at first that they had received "a very small number" of reports of overheating, but now they're saying they've confirmed that it is not caused by LA Noire. I'm with Yant, it's probably just that a few people's consoles overheat and naturally they blame it on the game that they're currently playing.

As for the evidence thing, what I would have liked to see (though I understand it would have meant a ton more work) would be that they decided how relevant various pieces of evidence were to each question, and then have different responses based on which evidence you picked. So there might be one piece that is the "best" piece of evidence and gets you the most info, but another piece that is still somewhat related and so you get more than nothing.

2 different issues:

1) freezing, which they say is caused by LA Noire, and which has the solution you mentioned

2) overheating, which they're saying isn't caused by LA Noire

Also, just beat the game. I loved it. Took me just over 20 hours. I didn't want it to end though. :(

Sony's saying the PS Store should be up next tuesday, so hopefully I'll be able to get my pre-order cases then.

Actually, I've noticed that most of the cutscenes can be skipped. The exception is the cutscene at the beginning of each case.

Also, I wanted to add this: (MAJOR ENDING SPOILERS)

I'm fucking pissed that that motherfucker Roy Earle spoke at my funeral.

Oh, and yeah, I think I'll enjoy replaying the cases. I'll definitely turn off all hints the second time around, but I don't think I remember them well enough to take the mystery out of them. I mean, I might remember the end result, but the game is about the process and I really doubt I'll remember the specific process for any given case all that well.

Did you collect all the newspapers? I found that one at the end proved to be

a pretty cathartic experience, because of my pent-up anger for that bastard Roy.

Also, I loved his performance at the end. You can clearly hear his disdain and how he's pretty much going through the motions (including that bastard captain), and it plays like an extra "fuck you" to the player, in addition to the way the DA and police chief cut a deal. The way they don't tie everything up in a nice, neat little bow just hammers in the fact that it's an experience unlike any other.

Whoops! Had a teensy bit of a slip-up with the spoiler tags the first time I posted that. Hopefully no one saw anything.

I did. Is that the one where

Phelps pulls the gun on Roy and says "if you ever say anything about Courtney I will blow your fucking brains out"?

If so, I also enjoyed that.

I'm on disc 3. I've been binge-playing the game for the last couple of days.

It's amazing how immersive the game is. During the homicide chapter, loose ends from solved cases would nag at me while I wasn't playing the game.

I sucked at the beginning of the game, but I've gotten a lot better. I'm starting to really think like a detective. :sherlock:

I wasn't bothering to drive other vehicles much, but then I noticed the vehicle gallery in the Extras section. Note that Jay Leno's car collection is listed in the credits.

For those who might be having trouble finding the Free Roam mode (I sure as hell did), you get to it by going to the cases menu, then at the bottom of each desk's folder there's a free roam option (except the patrol desk). Each desk has its own unique street crimes too, so you'll have to do it for all the desks to get all the street crimes.

Oh, also, (and I freely admit this is just me being anal) can people on the 360 say maybe what desk they're on rather than what disc? Cause on the PS3 it's only one disc so I don't have any idea what part of the game each disc starts or ends at.

Disc three begins on the second Vice case. Not sure where the second starts.
