Faiblesse Des Sens
It looks decent. I mean for a superhero movie I would say it looks good. I'll definitely hit up the theaters with my friends for this one.

Mr W Phallus
Actually quite excited for this, although I'm not so sure about the casting of Xavier and Magneto.
staySICK
its a fox x-men movie. it's going to blow. fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me. try to fool me a third time I'm not not falling for it. ...dammit. staySICK
kind of, I like x-men and x-men 2 for the most part, didn't really care for the diminished sabretooth / wolverine conflict in the fist one, or how they made them both Wolverine movies guest starring the X-Men. But my main point is X-Men 3 was beyond horrible, Origins: Wolverine was garbage, I just don't see much to be hopeful about with a yet another X-Men movie. Buy the franchise out from Fox, bring it back in-house, and reboot it. I want to see an X-Men movie that's more Claremont X-Men, really. That's my dream. TheForgetfulBrain
Well, Aronofsky's doing the new Wolverine, so that's probably going to be fucking amazing.
SomTervo
Well, Aronofsky's doing the new Wolverine, so that's probably going to be fucking amazing. Sexy. B-but kinda twisted at the same time. And scary. Probably will make me want to end my life before society destroys it anyway. ... I'm not seeing it, man. YOU CAN'T MAKE ME.

And even though this movie violates the shit out of the comic's canonical story, I thought the trailer looked pretty good. I can't help but think about how different it seems from the original first issues of X-Men, and how I might do the film if I was making it. In the old school X-Men comics, the X-Men were pretty goody good. They were very prudent and well-mannered. They stood up for American values-- much like the old Superman -- "truth, justice, and the American way." But if we followed the direction that modern X-Men writers have taken, the X-men of the 1960s would have been far more progressive: more openly sexual, more defiant of cultural norms, etc. Throw in the growing counter culture and the Cold War, and you get a lot of possibilities about what the original X-Men in the 1960s would be like. Either way, I'm excited. I could care less about Thor and Captain America.
ceedee
I don't know enough about the comics to have this movie ruined for me, I'm looking forward to it. Now, if we were talking about Walking Dead, I'd tell you how fucking terrible the show is because it rapes the comics.
staySICK
It just dawned on me who the director is. ... ...nope, still pessimistic about it.
Johnny
The trailer looks surprisingly promising. Still probably not a movie I'll pay to see.
toxicitizen
I didn't expect much from this. I'm no comic book nerd but I really love Bryan Singer's first two movies. The third one was just bad... But, to my surprise, the trailer makes the movie look not bad at all. Whether it'll actually be good remains to be seen. HotChops
just woke up and re-watched the trailer. It is so awesome to see the Blue/Gold uniforms in action.... like for real, that's nerdish ecstasy. I feel embarrassed to say that when I watched the trailer for the first time I kept thinking, "Is that Iceman? Where's Cyclops? How about Angel?" I finally remembered this morning that the first three x-men films screwed up their ages, so we won't see them. If we're lucky, we'll see young Scott and Jean by the end of the film. If not, they'll be in the next two b/c apparently this is the first of a planned trilogy.

Can
Actually, while it's officially a prequel, the continuity with the other films is pretty fucked up. The director told the screenwriters to not be hampered by the three X-Men movies too much and just roll with new things, so some people are considering First Class to be a 'mini-reboot'. SomTervo
Now, if we were talking about Walking Dead, I'd tell you how fucking terrible the show is because it rapes the comics. The show's great because it does it's own thing and makes the story it's own- unique, and interesting. It builds on the initial setting and characters of the comics. X-men first class looks decent. I actually think Cap Am looks decent too, but I really don't care about Thor, have no interest in the character or the film. HotChops
I just found this via Spike's page. It's a character vignette for Havoc (aka Alex Summers.) http://www.spike.com/video-clips/b5ug3e/exclusive-trailer-from-x-men-first-class-havok It's a good video, but a bit spoilerish. I think I'll be refraining from future vids after this.
Yantelope
As a super fan of the 90's cartoon show I'm on the side that isn't too happy with the X-men movies. I agree with Staysick saying that 1 was okay 2 was getting good and 3 and 4 were terrible. X-men just has so many characters though that I feel it would be better off having a Syfy TV series than trying to cram this stuff into movies. I don't even think it's fair to consider "3" and "4" as part of the movies, because they were studio-hand-offs. The first two films -- the Bryan Singer ones -- are the only real X-men movies IMO. That's partially why I'm psyched for First Class. It's produced by Singer and the current film definitely imitates Singer's work. A live-action Syfy series would be good if it was taken very seriously like Battlestar Galactica; 45-minute shows, good budget, and don't go beyond four seasons. The fact is that not all X-men stories/characters are good ones. The more you put out there, the farther you have to dig into the vault for lamer material such as the Shi'ar. I think it's better to contain it within carefully-planned and executed trilogies that focus on the core themes of the franchise.
Yantelope
It just seems like each character (other than wolverine) gets very little face time on a 90 minute film. I agree about the handing the films off and it really pisses me off that so many other hero movies are given such great care but X-Men really seems to have been shafted by Hollywood. X3 really seemed to just crap all over the first two movies. Edit: What bothers me about this is I don't think they're distancing themselves from those two bad movies enough.
