From what they wrote the actual gaming part of the phone is pretty good

Which is really the point with something like this, right?

Also one thing to consider with most tech blog reviews is that they ALWAYS compare whatever is out there to the highest end phone possible when what they're comparing isn't even meant to be compared to those.

But yeah, you're right about if you want super high specs or rather if you want good specs but with better gaming controls.

That N64 emulator demo combined with my past with Android emulation makes me really want this. N64 and older on your phone with good controls? Oh god yes.

http: //www.engadget....ia-play- review/

pretty underwhelming overall.

for engadget anyways. ive read other reviews that really enjoy it because theyre not on apples dick like engadget

and gizmodo, and wait, aren't about every tech blog on the knob of Jobs & Co.?

anyway, I would like to see hardware like this with a Tegra inside, especially with the Tegra Zone that features games that only work on Tegra powered devices. This is especially disappointing with the Play because a lot of the Tegra devices now are bogged down by bloated UI skins over android, to the point where a next gen snapdragon feels just as responsive and quick as a Tegra, which is pretty pathetic, and a good part of why I'm passing on phones like the Atrix.

Nah. There's a few smaller less biased places. And then there's the purely smartphone sites which apart from being a bit more specialist can't be on iPhones dick all the time cos Apple only release one phone every year or so, and there's dozens of Androids, RIMs, WinMo etc that pop out.

Oh yeah, anyone heard of this shit with the PSX4droid getting pulled from Android Market. Mere days before Xperia Play release. Hardly a coincidence.

It's pretty fucking dodgy (though I guess the emulator kinda was too). But I guess Sony are a OHA member, so do have a fair bit of sway. And potentially Xpera Play like devices and the PS Suite/PS Pocket on Android phones could really heavily tip the scales in Androids favour. (not like the scales aren't already tipped in their favour mind), so you can understand Google bending over backwards to appease them. Still it'd of been more tactful to pull it at release than days before their competing device n app comes out.

I got the Playstation app on my phone (emulated T-MO NL on my SIM), but I can't log in, log in through the app is basically a browser shell. App help states it can be used abroad, so I'm not sure if its just site problems or what; but I can access everything else in the app; Playstation news and playstation.blog (although obv its all Euro-centric)

I wonder why there's nothing for SCEA yet.

APPS BY SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT EUROPE LIMITED

And the Android Market starts beefing up.

(Also I can't get the Playstation App. Hate when that happens. Do you know a way around that? Appbrain used to be able to force apps onto your phone, but Google disabled that)

Having bought a couple of these on PSOne and again on PSN (and got some via PS Plus) it really would be super if I could not have to pay for them... again... again.

Ho hum.
