peteer01
I loved, loved, loved Shi no Numa and Der Riese. (I even managed to figure out how to basically survive forever in soloing in Shi no Numa.) I played Ascension last night with a friend for the first time, and I tried "Five" once...but other than that, I haven't really played much of Zombies (outside of Dead Ops Arcade) in Black Ops. I heard that Kino Der Toten and "Five" aren't really well suited for solo play, and I was wondering if anyone has had any success soloing Kino Der Toten, "Five" or Ascension . I'd definitely like to sink my teeth into one of these levels the way I did with Shi no Numa and Der Riese. Please, please share your successes and failures soloing zombies here. :-) (Actually, anything Zombies related is fair game, but I'm specifically interested in hearing from people who've given soloing the Blops levels a try.) TheForgetfulBrain
I was obsesssssed with this for World at War, yet I've hardly touched this on Black Ops. If anyone has Black Ops on PC, we should play together at some point so I can finally get back into it!

muddymoo
I've never played Zombies before until BO! And I only just started playing recently and it's mega fun! Maybe because I'm new to the whole thing. My best round is 23 on Kino, with 2 players. And I only got there because the other player was uber good. Ascension, how do you get that map? Might I add, I didn't really know much about the weapons and perks so I didn't get anything besides Juggernog in that game ha ha ha ha and thus we died. Sigh. We basically continuously ran in circles, around and around, I want to try out other strategies. And if anyone is up for it on PSN, let me knowwww

Shi no Numa and Der Riese are both super fun. They came with Map Packs 2 and 3 for COD:WaW, but they also came with the Hardened version of Black Ops. (Slightly different, as you can get Black Ops guns in the COD:BO version, apparently) If they make those zombie maps available for Black Ops as DLC, I highly recommend it. As for Ascension, that's the zombie map you get with the First Strike DLC. With the normal version of Black Ops, your options are "Five", which is unlocked when you beat the single player campaign, Kino, and a top down Smash TV-esque game called Dead Ops Arcade, which get by breaking free of the restraints at the main menu, going to the PC, and typing in DOA. I love gaming that keeps ramping up in difficulty until you die, so that with meticulously learning, tweaking and replaying I can beat my previous best score, until I have that one amazing game that I just don't ever top. Geometry Wars was good for that, but Der Riese pretty much tops everything in that category. I hope one of the new zombie maps can provide the same experience, I need to give them a fair chance first.
peteer01
Still haven't tried Kino Der Toten and "Five", but getting the hang of Ascension. It's a great map, and it'll probably be a blast with a team, but solo, it actually seems almost too easy. After struggling to get the power on, get a decent weapon and get Juggernog, the game's really easy after that. I did on 21 because of a very stupid decision to go for double points and getting swarmed...but then I died another half dozen times between levels 2 and 5 trying to maximize my points to get off to a good start. Now I've got the game paused at 19 because it's late and I don't see an end anywhere in sight. I've got +35,000 points, the Thunder Gun, the Ray Gun and the Gersh device, and I haven't need the Thunder Gun or Gersh device, nor do I see a need to upgrade the Ray Gun yet. (Despite points being meaningless because solo play doesn't qualify for the leaderboards anymore, I've been using the ray gun to take out all the zombies legs (which leaves you a small number of non-crawlers even as they respawn) and knifing them with the sickle.) Anyway, we'll see if I can get a good groove going, and if I can, how long I can play before space monkeys become a real problem... At this point, I'm hoping one of my friends will follow suit so that we can try to put up a decent team score.
peteer01
Now I've got the game paused at 19 because it's late and I don't see an end anywhere in sight. I've got +35,000 points, the Thunder Gun, the Ray Gun and the Gersh device, and I haven't need the Thunder Gun or Gersh device, nor do I see a need to upgrade the Ray Gun yet. :'( So I turned off the projector with the 360 still paused, and went to bed last night. My wife woke up before me (partially because I'd been up until 3:00AM playing Zombies) and saw the 360 in the projector game room on. She assumed I'd left it on by mistake (which I've done once in over 7 years of living together) and turned it off. :bun-cry:
