toxicitizen
Also, I'm probably reading WAY too much into the fact that they were Xbone listings, but if ME2 launches as an Xbone exclusive that might actually be enough to get me to buy the console. Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Except, you know, replace "buying an Xbox One" with "going on a killing spree". Not too worried, though. EA aren't really in the business of making console exclusives. Also, looks like something a bit more concrete emerged. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=571297 I've been waiting a long time for this. Waldorf and Statler
I CAN'T see Mirror's Edge 2 being an exclusive. EA and Ubisoft have always seemed to have a butt-buddy relationship with the PS too.
TCP
Mirror's Edge 2 is absolutely an exclusive for Xbone. It's a Kinect-only game with Microsoft publishing it. I guaran-fucking-tee it.
TheMightyEthan
I will stab you.
TCP
After years and years of this game not being made, being a Kinect game seems the only way we'd ever get a Mirrors Edge 2. I HOPE I'M WRONG!
deanb
How would a kinect Mirrors Edge even work? Well..more specifically how would it work without leading to several deaths?
TheMightyEthan
It's actually an ARG. EA has painted strategically placed metal rails red in several major cities. Players must locate the courses and complete them while being shot at by local police.
TheFlyingGerbil
How would a kinect Mirrors Edge even work? Well..more specifically how would it work without leading to several deaths? Isn't that the next logical step in Microsoft's consumer relations.
Thursday Next
Amazing how many people say it "bombed" in sales. It did a couple of million easy which back in 2008 was hardly disastrous. It just wasn't as successful as EA had hoped.
deanb
Yeah I think the reason people say it "bombed" is because that was the impression EA gave off with it. I was always confused how 3million sales was considered a flop. Especially for what seemed like a relatively simple(cheap?) game.
Thursday Next
It wasn't our cheapest game, but it certainly didn't have as much spent on it as BF3.
toxicitizen
Honestly, after Squeenix's recent claim that their multi-million selling recent hits failed to meet their sales expectations, I stopped trying to understand what sort of batshit crazy expectations these companies even have.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Honestly, after Squeenix's recent claim that their multi-million selling recent hits failed to meet their sales expectations, I stopped trying to understand what sort of batshit crazy expectations these companies even have. I could be wrong here but wasn't the expectation for these titles to do more than break even but that's all that ended up happening? This was revealed in the follow-ups after the initial "didn't meet expectations" news.
toxicitizen
I didn't follow it 100% but I was under the impression that they were profitable. Just, not enough for them. It's possible all they did was break even, I guess. Still doesn't seem all that bad to me. Especially for a new IP like Sleeping Dogs. After a few years of sales and price drops, more people will have gotten their hands on the game and a sequel would be much more likely to perform significantly better. Waldorf and Statler
Sleeping Dogs was fantastic. If it ever gets a sequel I'd only hope they expanded on side missions and maybe the dating sim thing they started. But yeah the sales expectations are really high. toxicitizen
Yeah, my one complaint about Sleeping Dogs would be there wasn't enough cases. The story was very, very good but I thought working the cases was the most fun aspect of the game.
TheMightyEthan
My thought was always that if you require more than 3 million sales of your brand-new IP in the first month just for it to break even then you should have had a different business model to start with.
Mal
Its the general problem with the entertainment industry, especially with the big studios. Everything got to be a blockbuster. Its pretty annoying.
NeoStarr
I can't even remember the last time an original game from a major publisher did much more than break even, let alone have Battlefield sales. If that's the standard it's set way too high. I think Mirror's Edge 2 would be a fucking huge success if they don't wait too long.
TheMightyEthan
Supposedly it's a reboot. I hope that's just reading the press release too literally. The new Mirror's Edge reboots the franchise for the next generation with advanced visuals and an all-new origin story for Faith.
Mal
They could totally work in the stuff we have going on now in the real world to ME's story. It would be neat and be sort of a social commentary.
toxicitizen
Yeah, I think reboot is used as a buzzword here. It sounds like a prequel more than anything. The original is nowhere near iconic enough that a reboot would necessarily stick with Faith and that specific tattoo. Not sure why they'd go that route but it's more Mirror's Edge so I'll take it.
