MasterDex
I thought they did fix the fall damage. The increased damage to tanks seems a bit extreme and the increased effects of suppression only serve to placate the noobs that can't shoot straight, bringing us all down to their level in a firefight but overall, it seems like some decent improvements have been made - Though you wouldn't believe that if you read the dreaded battlelog forums. Everyone's bitching over there....then again, everyone is ALWAYS bitching over there.
Yantelope V2
Dangit, I sit down to play some BF3 and 1.5GB update.
Yantelope V2
Ugh, I played some more last night and was even more frustrated by the jets. There was one guy who was like 19-0 and impossible to shoot down in a jet. He'd be on your tail in 2 seconds every time no matter what you did, it was a bit baffling really. He said 300 is the optimum turning speed though. I'm starting to wonder if using a mouse makes you turn faster, I've been using the keyboard for the jets because that's how I learned back in the BF1942 days. Thursday Next
Ewwwww! Keys to fly? Are you sick in the head? Mouse is the only way to fly. Also, if your facing someone that good you either need a wing-man or someone in the stationary AA to help take them out. For most ground troops jets aren't a problem so getting foot soldiers with stingers taking an interest is unlikely.
Yantelope V2
Well, it's because in the days of BF 1942: Desert Combat the keyboard was way better and it was the only way to fly a helicopter so I'm still very used to it. Back then if you used the mouse on a plane you had to pick it up all the time. I'll try to play it again with the mouse and see how I do. madbassman39
Best Anti Air weapon? Tank with the guided shells, and a player in the third seat. My friend and I do this, take down everything within range in one hit. Nobody uses it either. Probably because I'm playing on the 360 and nobody actually talks strategy, they just bitch and moan. Maritan
Patch notes don't matter, most of the players will still play "Metro Conquest 64 2000 tickets". And yeah, me and my mates are very disappointed by BF3 in general. I guess that's what happens when you cater to peasants. Speaking of jets and stuff: you just need a mouse with switchable DPI. You just switch it with a button when you are in jet and voila, you're suddenly more maneuverable. Â Best Anti Air weapon? Tank with the guided shells, and a player in the third seat. My mouse is tuned for it. One for general infantry, one for ground vehicles, one for jet's, one for sniping, one for heli's....if only my mouse were a bit newer and the buttons for switching didn't stick. Â Guided shells and the CITV are awesome. Not enough public players use it.
madbassman39
I made the mistake of looking at the forums on battlelog. I searched for the USAS-12 and then read the forum posts. One person asked if the USAS with frag rounds is overpowered, to which almost everybody called anybody who agreed with him a noob, and that there were ways to fight against it, which were the following: Â 1) Don't get shot by it 2) Use the USAS with frag rounds. Â Now, I'm no expert but I play the game, my main goal is to not be shot, but its not entirely easy.
MasterDex
That's the battlelog forums for ya! Even mature, well structured complaints against the game come up against "QQ MORE!" posts and "STOP PLAYING THEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT!" or my favourite: "I just checked your stats and they say you suck therefore your argument is null and void." Â As for the USAS, or indeed any of the automatic shotguns with frag rounds, I find that they're easy enough to avoid - so long as you don't mistake them for a tank because the guys that use them usually don't consider the sound they make to be all that loud. So, next time you here "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!", run for cover. Edited March 31, 2012 by MasterDex
madbassman39
If I see them I can avoid them, the problem comes when a player and I come around the corner and start shooting. The USAS frag rounds will always win because they just have to shoot at my feet, or the wall behind me. The new patch is supposed to help the balance with that, which is, in my opinion, needed. Baconrath
I'm having trouble with (attack) helicopters on the 360 version. I can't hover or circle strafe to save my life. I've been thinking about switching button layouts. Any recommendations?
Thursday Next
It's not so much the splash damage or power of the frag rounds, it's that the USAS did not suffer a drop in fire rate as every other shotgun did. That's why people aren't moaning about Frag rounds in general and are (or rather were) talking about USAS Frag in particular.
madbassman39
@bacon, when I fly an attack helicopter I keep the layout the same as default, but to strafe, you have to lightly tilt the pitch, and keep the chopper straight by slowly rotating the yaw in the direction needed, all the while alternating (when needed) between acceleration and deceleration. I'm no expert, but this seems to be the best way to do it. Â As far as hover goes, that one is trickier, I haven't mastered it, but I just watch the gauges on the HUD to make sure I'm not pitching in any direction and just slowly accelerate as I notice the altitude start to drop. Â The gauges are actually really helpful, but the problem is its hard to watch the gauges and whats going on outside the chopper at the same time. I find that strafing I've gotten so use to it that I don't need the gauges anymore, and hopefully that happens on hover too. Â @TN I like to blame the splash damage, but your right, I have no problem with the other shotguns (minus the jackhammer mk3a1) with the frag rounds. Those two guns are getting fixed to fire slowly, so maybe that will make enough of a difference to help me survive a quick encounter. Â I know that in real life frag rounds in an auto shotgun cleans a room instantly, but I also know that the guns in games are changed to help balance the game a bit more. I don't mind some guns being better than others, but its obvious that when a team is loosing big time, everybody pulls out the USAS or MK3A1 with frag rounds to help, which leads me to believe that those guns give a major advantage
Baconrath
This update is something else. I've already been kicked then banned from someones Xbox server because I kept using the patched (hallelujah!) anti-air launcher against the host's party who were all in scout helicopters. Hooray? Â It probably didn't help my case that I uh...teabagged one of his party members. He had it coming!

madbassman39
So this whole Battlefield premium thing... I don't want to support the idea of paying (a one time fee) for a service on top of a game that I already own, I think its a business practice that has no place in paying $60 for a game, and then paying a fee for more "exclusive" items. Â BUT I plan on getting all expansion packs and if the packs are all truly $15 a pop with 4 more to go, I'll get it just to have the expansion packs for 10 dollars less. Â The other stuff included is only an added bonus, so its nice. I'm just stoked to get the expansion packs for a cheaper price.

As I see it, Premium is less of a service and more of a expansion pack...errrr...pack. I'll be getting it myself since I know I'll still be playing it after all the DLC is out. Â I have to give credit to EA on this however. A 1-time fee that's reasonable enough to get people to buy into the game for another year, that's smart. I guarantee that there'll be those who would have stopped playing within the next couple of months that will still come back to play it simply because they decided to buy Premium. Â As long as this doesn't become a recurring fee for the next Battlefield - or to be honest, a recurring fee without value support (I could see myself paying a recurring fee if the game was supported as well as the best subscription games) - I'm ok with it. Maritan
BF2 expansion pack + booster packs = 50$, so it's not that diffirent from BF2. And if you don't want to pay LOADSAMONEY, just buy Premium from Brazil or India for 25$, fuck da police. Luftwaffles
Well, any thoughts on the new DLC? Â Personally, I'm not quite sure what I think yet. I've played probably 5 hours of it now, with some good games and some bad games and noticed how Conquest Domination usually seems to go down. Aaaand, it's pretty much just CoD. I have to hand it to DICE with the new maps, they all look fantastic, the destruction is great, and they managed to have pretty much no chokepoints, something I was worried about. That aside, CQ domination is a bit of a mess. You can capture points, and they change hands fast, but unlike regular CQ, you can't spawn on the point after you capture it. You at least have the option to spawn on your teammates, but otherwise you're stuck with random spawns ala TDM. And as many of you already know, those random spawns are pretty shitty. I've capped a point many times only to find that someone has spawned right behind me. IMO, until the spawns get fixed CQ Domination is going to be a bit of a mess. Â Gun game is alright too, but it seems like a bit of an afterthought. It's great to see all the people that only use the M16/G18 try and get kills with stuff like a bolt-action and LMGs, though. Â Oh, and the new guns are fantastic, probably reason enough to get the DLC, IMO. The AUG and SCAR-L have their own little niche in the assault class, ACW and MTAR are nice variations for the engie, and the M417 for the recon is actually probably a tad OP right now. Nothing in the pack seems like a simple reskin except perhaps the SPAS-12, and that's a nice change from B2K. Everything seems to have its own niche. Â Anywho, I'll probably be playing a bit more of it, but it doesn't exactly grab me like the other modes. It's fun enough, but it's so frantic and inconsistent sometimes. Maritan
Well, any thoughts on the new DLC? I think it's horrible. Not simply horrible, it's shit. Played a couple of rounds to unlock new weapons and that's all. They tried to make something similar to CoD and failed miserably. The weapons are nice though. madbassman39
Im getting it tonight, going to go and get premium while I'm at it. I hope its fun, I liked the close quarters combat in BF3, it still feels like BF3, so I'm very interested in this expansion. Its probably not going to be my favorite, but I still will enjoy it when I want some smaller close quarters exciting maps.
MasterDex
I haven't got the new DLC yet but I'm planning on getting premium. The maps and modes are what they are, they don't concern me. As far as CQ is concerned, all I'm interested in are the new weapons. I'm still quite content to play conquest. Â I do have something negative to say about premium however. The fact that it allows people to skip queues (on private servers, I might add) is stupid. The only people that should be allowed to skip queues on private servers are the people the administrators put on their VIP list, not every Tom, Dick and Harry that pays EA some money. madbassman39
I hate everything that Premium stands for. I absolutely hate it. But the fact that I love battlefield and can get the expansion packs for $50 got me to buy into it. Â Impressions on the new maps... Well laid out, but they have some serious visibility issues. It's probably on purpose but I can't stand that I can't see enemies right outside a door when I'm inside a building. The new game modes are fun, but I don't really like the new conquest mode, its fast paced but I don't get the point of the random spawn points when there are objectives you have captured. Â Gun master is a lot of fun though .
