Mal
How about if that $80 copy will have every DLC (Haha...)?
Mister Jack
If that turns out to be a special edition and they still sell a regular edition at a more normal price then that would be acceptable, but if the base price is 80 dollars then fuck that. Luftwaffles
I don't know, I haven't skipped a BF games since BC1, but I have a feeling I'll be skipping BF4. It's not even that I think it'll be awful, I just feel burnt out already on BF3, and nothing I've seen or heard about BF4 is really piquing my interest and telling me it'll be anything different yet. Â As far as the price goes, that isn't really surprising to me. I think they'll have some real nerve to charge $80 for the regular edition, but I fully expect to see a $80 "Deluxe Edition" alongside the normal $60 edition, as that's what's happened with Sim City, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Mass Effect 3, really any EA game in the past year or so.
Code_Yuki
Armored Kill is pretty decent. Haven't played long but it's quite large. Â Just wondering though why it can't even run well on low settings on my laptop. I've played nearly all games etc from low-mid even like sleeping dogs with high-rez pack with no problem at 1080p but for BF3, can't even play low settings on 720p at a bearable framerate. Â Â If I can't, I'll just have to stay on PC for BF3. Edited September 11, 2012 by Code_Yuki
Luftwaffles
I am downloading now, should be hopping in later today if anyone wants to play. Unfortunately, when I moved my internet and ping sort of got really inconsistent, though, so I've actually been entertaining myself more with ARMA 2 again just because you don't need ping below 100 to really play well. Fingers crossed my housemates quit their torrenting ways for a couple hours today though so I can get some smooth gameplay.
MasterDex
I haven't touched BF3 since getting absorbed into Tribes: Ascend. I may pick up BF Premium and check out Armoured Kill though, it's the one I was looking forward to the most. Â How are the maps? Are they really big but the play area is only a tiny part like the other "big" maps or are they the genuine article?
Luftwaffles
No, they are genuinely big. I had a go on Armored Shield, Albors Mountain, and Death Valley and they're all gigantic, Albors in particular. Based on the in game distance things you see below capture points, it was about 1400 units from one spawn to the furthest capture point, far more than the 600 or so on Firestorm. Honestly, the only map I haven't liked is Death Valley, mostly because it's a straight line of capture points like Oasis from Bad Company 2. I think that's lazy map design, but whatever. The others are great.
Code_Yuki
Got some pictures for those who don't have the AK yet. It's mostly to show the scale. Through the map and distances.  This ones Death Valley    And this ones Bandar Desert on Conquest and I think Conquest Large has more flag placements.
MasterDex
That looks and sounds promising. Now, to tear myself away from Tribes long enough to get it and play it.
Maritan
Those maps look nice. For example, colour filter in Amored Shield is more bearable compared to Caspian Border Death Valley is too blue. You're fucking invisible while wearing navy blue camo. Bondar desert and alborz mountain are fine, but look at those points: Edited September 13, 2012 by Maritan
madbassman39
New expansion Aftermath is out. I really like the new maps. They aren't pretty, and dull brown and grey, but the lay out with the trenches and the new armored vehicles are spectacular fun. The Crossbow (or Xbow) is pretty entertaining too, although a tad bit cheap, but they have some serious drop so they are a close to mid-range weapon. Â I think the new scavenger mode is a fantastic change on the whole dynamic. Sure it kind of defeats the whole purpose of battlefields class system, but its a nice round to throw in after a few conquest/rush matches. Almost like a cool down. Â I didn't care for Armored Shield, they were to spread out and you would fight a few enemies in one area, but mostly there would be 3 or 4 at each base defending/attacking so you spent most of your time traveling back and fourth. Â I feel like I got my money's worth out of Premium, and I still have one expansion left.
Thursday Next
I think Aftermath has some of the best maps I've ever played. I like the way they evolve over time as well, with people blowing open doors to allow new routes through to objectives. I like scavenger as it is as level a playing field as you could hope for. Everyone starts out with just a pistol, after that you need a little luck and a lot of skill. As you say, it's a nice switch up from Conquest / Rush. jayc4life
I'm hoping Premium goes on sale for Christmas, might finally pick it up. I know that even at €45 it's still gonna be worth its price, but that's an entire new game though. If I can get it down to €30 anywhere I'll be pretty happy with that.  Edit: picked it up for €32 with GreenManGaming's 30% discount code. Baconrath
I haven't played BF3 since Karkand because I didn't have enough hard drive space on my Xbox to spare. But now that I've upgraded I'll have more than enough space for the 12+ Gigs this game takes up if I install one of the discs. Â This will be a loooooong update. jayc4life
If the PC installation is anything to go on, it'll be a lot more than 12GB. I just looked at my Battlefield 3 folder in Program Files, and the whole lot's just shy of 30GB. That's astounding, when you think about it. madbassman39
Last night I was playing with a friend, and we joined a private server that said "No SKS/AS VAL". I want it to be known that I believe that restricting what guns players can use is just DUMB. I hated the USAS with Frag rounds a while back more than anything, but I did not like servers banning the use of them. I can play around and still do well when there are overpowered guns in the field, theres more to playing the game than having the best gun. Â Anyhow, I decided that I was going to break his rules until I got kicked out, because I hated the rules. My friend said that made me pretty much a Jackass. I felt kind of bad because I agreed with him, that is until the server owner killed me, revived me, killed me, revived me (which I declined the second time 'round). Then he sent me a message saying that he was being nice and if I was on the other team he would have booted me. Â At that point I felt more compelled then ever to use those guns, because he was just a dick. Â Does it really make me a jackass when I refuse to play those rules on a private server? Sometimes I don't know the rules until I chose to play, and if there are rules in the description I avoid those servers. Â BTW Where are all of the official DICE servers? jayc4life
Specific rule servers are the WORST. Â I remember not long after buying Battlefield 3 I wound up on an Operation Metro Conquest 24/7 server that banned explosives. No grenades, grenade launchers, RPGs or claymores. It made the escalators between B and C an incredibly obvious choke point and nobody was moving anywhere. The only redeeming thing about it was sitting behind a wall at the bottom of some stairs constantly planting down medkits and ammo boxes and racking up 15000+ scores without so much as firing a single bullet myself. Certainly not my idea of fun, I can tell you that.

Certainly not my idea of fun, I can tell you that. Â Just don't ever play a server like that. It's somehow even worse with explosives. Â On that note, the lack of servers playing maps and modes I like is probably what made me sort of stop playing this game. I've put 150+ hours into it since release, but there's only so many times you can play Grand Bazaar Conquest and Canals TDM before it just starts to get boring. Although I didn't particularly enjoy Close Quarters, it's pretty sad to see that expansion completely dead so close after release, and my personal favorite (Armored Kill) seems to have gone the same direction. Really, this'll probably be the last Battlefield game I buy on launch at least. Haven't missed one yet, but I'm a little disappointing in the direction DICE (and more so the playerbase) have taken BF3. For a playerbase that I used to think valued larger maps like Karkand or Wake Island it's a little disheartening to see half the servers for BF3 being 64p 24/7 Metro fragfests. Baconrath
Did they change/break the Stinger/IGLA again? I feel like they're back to being useless again. I've been on one server that said "no anti-air launchers" but I don't know if thats because they dont like being shot down or that they are totally useless and a waste of time because of THE ALMIGHTY FLARES. I remember they got buffed back when Back to Karkand Kirk Cameron was released because thats how I got banned from a Brazilian server.ALL HAIL THE ALMIGHTY FLARES
Baconrath
I *just* now unlocked the M29 Dart. Is it still considered to be over powered or did they ruin fix it?

I need to buy a flight stick now too.  You don't really need to IMO. I love my flight stick for stuff like DCS, FSX, or Arma, but it's 100% overkill for Battlefield. In fact, I find flying with the mouse is easier.
