Mal
Tremors Its so bad that it became decent. Also that gun nut and his wife are the best characters. A sand worm bust into your bunker? Spray it full of lead! by so bad, you mean so awesome right? That was one of my brother and my favourite films when we were young. It wasn't part of my childhood so there is that. I would put it to the good movie thread if it didn't have those slow parts that nearly had me nod off. Either way, it was a surprising movie. Again, love that the gun nut lives. You'd expect that he and his wife would be the first to go.
Mal
Godzilla. I concur with the general sediment that it is lacking in Godzilla. I could care less about the people. Godzilla parts were awesome though, especially the finisher.

Godzilla parts were awesome though, especially the finisher. Had it on pre-order, but Amazon fucked up, so I was planning on grabbing it from work this morning. However I caught my parents watching my brothers copy last night, and all of a sudden I've lost all urge to revisit it.
CorgiShinobi
I have it, but I kinda, well, haven't been watching the movies I've been buying as of late. Only two movies and one of them is Godzilla while the other is the latest X-Men. For Godzilla, I already know it's a long movie with little footage of Godzilla, so it's hard to motivate myself to sit through half the human drama. Nexus
Horns This is Dan Rad's latest film. He plays an American. His accent is pretty good, to be fair. It's an okay film considering the premise - a man's girlfriend is murdered and he is accused of it. So he grows a pair of devil horns. Hilarity ensues. It's alright, though. TCP
It was weird to see Harry Potter bangin' some chick. I was like "WHAT NO HARRY! WHAT WOULD DUMBLEDOR SAY?!"

TheMightyEthan
World War Z. Not a lot to say. It was fine, though very predictable. I don't regret watching it.
Mister Jack
I'm very bitter about World War Z, regardless of its quality as an action movie, because I read the book and I know that the film could have been something so much more creative, so much more original, and so much more interesting than what it ended up becoming by the time it was finished. It's one of the worst examples of Hollywood deciding to play it safe that I've ever seen, and they didn't even have the decency to change the title because they still wanted to bank on the brand name, which means now we'll never get a proper adaptation. Fuck World War Z.
TheMightyEthan
I've never read the book, and knew more or less what to expect when I started watching it, but yeah I can see how you'd feel that way.
Mal
I refuse to watch World Wardecent. ause of its terrible adaptation. Tonight... The Cabin in the Woods was decent.
Hot Heart
Interstellar There's a lot to like about the film, but also dumb or cliche stuff and long stretches of boring. Matthew McConaughey is great (most of the cast is, really) and the score is real good (needed to be, considering it's present for about 90% of the film), plus it has cool effects and those robots. It's somewhat awe-inspiring, if you're a big fan of space exploration and astronomy. It definitely captures the old style of 'sci-fi' but manages to keep it personal enough. It's just too long and the protagonist's heroics feel too overplayed, which somewhat ruined me enjoyment. I can't really say more without spoiling it, and there are some nice surprises in there, but it does have this mish-mash of grand ideas and soppy sentimentality that reminded me too much of Lucy.
TheMightyEthan
The robots were my favorite characters, and I pretty much agree with everything you said. I will say that I think I like it more now than I did while I was actually watching it, which is odd...
Faiblesse Des Sens
I saw the Oldboy remake a few days ago. It was alright. Didn't feel like a lot of it had the same emotional impact. They kept it entertaining but didn't do enough to make the payoff really powerful.
Mal
I just watched the Korean Oldboy with my roommate. Odd movie. What confused me while watching is that I though the age gap between the protagonist and antagonist was greater than it really is. I just felt that a lot of shit came apparently from the left field or came at an odd time. Like, okay. You really pissed off someone back in highschool and it felt that the audience kind of found it out more than halfway through the film. That is how I felt. Now, yesterday we watched Ip Man The Final Fight. I wasn't expecting this kind of story considering how all the other Ip Man movies are but I thought it was a nice change. This one is more about the man himself than his legend. So kind of boring... but a neat movie .
deanb
The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies Still have LotR Extended Edition and the book I guess. edit: Okay maybe a wee harsh. The Dol Guldur bit was pretty sweet even if hugely disjointed from the rest of the film and did get stupidly trippy near the end of it with the reveal of Sauron that was over done. TCP
Frozen I know what you're thinking "TCP, that's a kids movie! You're the coolest poster on here, how can you watch a kids movie?". Calm down! I was babysitting my niece and put it on for her. It was my first time babysitting, and she started crying about her mom, which made me want to cry cause WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO?! But Frozen was free on VOD so I put it on and BAM it was OK and made her stop crying. UNCLE OF THE YEAR.
TheRevanchist
Oh, Cowboy, how you fail me. This movie has great elements all throughout. Great music. Exacting animation. Voiced to perfection. If anything, the cold of Canada has Frozen your heart. Here, take my hand and we can free Arendelle!
Waldorf and Statler
Now you can fucking hate the songs from that movie like the rest of us. Everytime I see my family one of them has to start singing that snowman song and I look at the window longingly. Jumping would be so easy. TheMightyEthan
It was a good movie, but I can't help but compare it to Tangled and find it wanting.
Mal
I've escaped Frozen so far. I may escape it entirely since I have no little family members (Old enough and young enough) to do what TCP did anymore. Seriously, the only thing I know is the damn song. What do I have to let go of? I don't want to find out.
CorgiShinobi
It's a damn good movie and it has a new twist in the Disney formula. Argo, huge hit that's easy to market towards girls. Kind of ironic given that the movie had very little marketing for its debut. Like, no one knew what exactly the movie was about at first.

TheMightyEthan
Yeah, it is a movie worth watching, definitely, and it truly does have a very interesting twist on the formula.
