TheMightyEthan
I thought those numbers were points, a la Bulletstorm.
Pirandello
I thought those numbers were points, a la Bulletstorm. I thought those were damage points. Or maybe they were experience points. Edited May 24, 2011 by Pirandello
TheMightyEthan
Oh yeah, to clarify, by "points" I meant "score points", not damage or experience.

Pirandello
Oh yeah, to clarify, by "points" I meant "score points", not damage or experience. It might be, not entirely sure. I doubt it's experience points because in the video (in the inner city with the rain), they had a 8k experience point limit until the next level and the player was getting numbers as high as 700 per kill. I think it's damage.
P4: Gritty Reboot
I thought they actually said xp next to the numbers.
Enervation
Bumpity bump. Anyone getting this? I preordered it on Amazon and they had a deal on it! Shaved off $10 for a total of $41, with shipping. Really awesome.
Luftwaffles
Bumpity bump. Anyone getting this? I preordered it on Amazon and they had a deal on it! Shaved off $10 for a total of $41, with shipping. Really awesome. Probably going to wait until some early reviews come out and see if any of my other friends get it. I'm more interested in the Borderlands-esque coop than the SP, plus I've just burnt some cash on Deus Ex: HR and Red Orchestra 2. Definitely going to keep an eye on the reviews, though, and probably look for a Giantbomb quicklook.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
After Call of Juarez: The Cartel? Unless I see some concrete evidence that it isn't a broken pile of shit shingles attached to spider's legs and chewed-up spitting gum, certainly not!
deanb
I'm probably going to hold out. The first CG trailer was fun n all, but I'm kinda put off by the fact the game is nothing like the trailer that got the game noticed in the first place. It's not looking too great tbh. And as Duke put it so gracefully: this is the studio that made Call of Juarez.
Hot Heart
IGN liked it, and called it 'Fallout 3 with zombies', though it seems a little less 'written' than that. Looks somewhere between Borderlands and Fallout 3 'with zombies' if you want to make odd comparisons.
CorgiShinobi
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-dead-island/720226 After watching this, yeah, it's like "Fallout 3 w/ Zombies." Some Borderlands elements like Hot said too.I think I'll be content with Deus Ex. I'm sure this will be a fine game still, but it didn't really live up to all its hype.It was suppose to be that kinda survivalist zombie horror game, yet the impression I'm getting is that you're going to melee a bunch of zombies and only occasionally "shoot" enemies. Mal
Its looks like something good for co-op so... I'll get it once its $30 or under and if I have some other people to play with. I wonder what modders can do with this game.
TheFlyingGerbil
http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/874412-dead-island-review-happy-trails Not a very +ve review. it does say the coop can be fun, but not local. If you haven't heard of the site it's my favourite - they don't just throw anything up then check on the facts later and the reviews are always very fair. Waldorf and Statler
Well I hope it IS like Fallout 3 meets Borderlands with zombies, because that would mean it's an open world with plenty to explore and lots of weapons available in the game. Dee
Oh goodness, I just don't know! After reading what it's "like" and what it "might not be like," I think I'll hold out a few days--as mentioned above--for some reviews. I don't feel like blowing 60 bucks on a zombie game unless it gives me more content than killing zombies.
DocSeuss
Dead Island is... absolutely awful. Here's how I felt about my first five minutes of the game. I posted on the Steam Forums because I was incredibly pissed and needed to rage somewhere quickly, and I was already on the Steam forums looking for a way to adjust the AWFUL FOV. I just got back from a vacation to Colorado that ended with me developing a House-like limp and, for a brief time, a Michael J. Fox-like shaking scenario, so please pardon any abuse of the English language I might have committed. I'm going to bed.
Enervation
I'm getting mine tomorrow in the mail. I'll be sure to drop my experiences with it after I've played it for a bit.
DocSeuss
Well, the news that this is apparently a dev version of the game, as opposed to a legit version has hit. No idea if they're telling the truth or lying, because this version is quite clearly intended for consoles. Hopefully they'll have something by the time I get back from work. As it is now, apparently there's a patch that disables the preorder DLC and the Y/noclip option.
Waldorf and Statler
So the game itself isn't HORRIBLE, it's just that there was a fuck-up of sorts?
Enervation
Sounds like... a miscommunication.
Waldorf and Statler
I've been playing the game, and you can color me impressed. I'm by no means blown away but the game is exactly like people describe it. Fallout 3 free-roaming with Borderlands-esque missions [aka do this, receive this reward] and a rage mode [similar to the Berserk mode in that the screen turns red and stuff]. I'm playing as the former football player from Texas who is the throwing weapons specialist. I can tell that once I update the throwing knives power that it'll be really useful, but as of right now I have to rely on melee weapons. I don't really see a point on a firearms specialist when the game doesn't have that many to begin with. And the asian character is wearing a kimono-looking thing? In the middle of a tropical paradise? Whaaa?
P4: Gritty Reboot
Yeah, definitely looking into picking this one up soon. Co-op zombie slaying for me and the wife sounds like the perfect marital counseling.
Enervation
I like it so far. Some of the quests have me running scared though, so I haven't been able to finish them. A long as hell blood trail leading into the hotel, then into a darkened bathroom? No freaking thanks, man.
