Mister Jack
You must love Disgaea, then.
TheMightyEthan
Never actually played, though I'm considering getting Disgaea 3 for Vita. I also love tactical turn-based combat systems.

Popular Post Thursday Next
Allow me to translate. "We broke the game with Patch 1.0.3 as such it will not be able to tell the difference between someone who bought the game and is playing for the first time and someone who is using a free guest pass so we're going to jury rig this by restricting every new account to the gimped 72hr starter version. However, we've already screwed up too many times already to admit screwing up again, so we're going to dress this up as a feature until we can be arsed to fix it." I work for EA, I know PR bullshit when I read it.
TheMightyEthan
Apparently it doesn't apply to retail copies though, which is just weird.
MasterDex
If TN is right, it may be that the retail codes and the digital codes (which the guest passes would be) come from two different sets.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Just died for the fourth time this week due to crippling lag. I'm done. I don't ever want to look at this fucking game again. If this is how Blizzard games are going to be from now on, I don't ever want to play their games again, either.

Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
I really hope Heart of the Swarm doesn't have to deal with this bullshit. I'm not buying it even if it DOESN'T have it. Until they can get my game to run flawlessly on this behemoth of a PC, I'm not giving them another cent.
TheMightyEthan
By "my game" do you mean Diablo 3? If so I don't see the logic in refusing to get game X that doesn't do anything wrong because of game Y which does a lot of things wrong, even if they're published by the same company. And by "this bullshit" I meant anything to do with requiring a constant connection, I won't get HotS if it has that.
TheMightyEthan
Support rep says Outside of the issue that we fixed, digital purchases do require a review period before they kick over from Starter to Full editions. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is a necessary step to combat fraud and other malicious activities that can weaken everyone's play experience. The delay is no longer than three days, and is often much quicker than that. Hang tight. What a load of crap.

TheMightyEthan
Well and I'd totally understand waiting a while on HotS to make sure it doesn't have any hidden issues before diving in.
toxicitizen
I was about to say that I don't see why HotS would have an always-on requirement because it has nothing like the RMAH that calls for it, but then I remembered they're actually working on that marketplace thing for mods or maps or something. So, uh, I guess it could go either way. Not that it would make much of a difference to me, tbh. When Diablo III launched and the shitstorm happened, I started wondering why there hadn't been a similar outcry for SC2 since it also required me to log onto battle.net to play. That's when I found out about guest mode. I have no idea if Wings of Liberty boots you out of the campaign if you lose your connection while playing, though. Also, (and this is kind of off topic but whatever) I've finally started playing the WoL campaign and holy shit is it awesome! Gameplay and graphical improvements aside, the missions are so much more varied and fun than in the original! TheMightyEthan
You can play WoL offline, you just can't unlock achievements. It does require a one-time activation the first time you play, but it's not a constant thing, or even an every-time-you-play thing.
deanb
WoL? (I can only think of Wrath of Lich King, and I'm sure that's WOLK and has zero offline mode)

TheMightyEthan
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06/22/blizzard-declares-diablo-starter-edition-snafu-unintended/ So now Blizzard is saying the Starter Edition limitation is unintended, and was a consequence of these other, lesser restrictions. I think they did it on purpose and after the backlash they started backpedaling, kind of like EA with that iOS Rock Band thing a while ago. These restrictions don't seem too bad, except the inability to share loot.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Really? Because from what I read, it sounded like the problem was that some people were still restricted even after 72 hours, not that the "up to 72 hours" was a mistake. TheMightyEthan
Right, that's what they were saying yesterday, now they've changed their tune because people didn't like it.
deanb
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5978428874 He's pretty stupid to have loaded his account up with that much cash anyway, but it's a bit of a dick move on Blizzards part that moving region will clear your balance and they only check your account after you've added the funds. Chewblaha
You all told Chewie he was fucking stupid for saying that the Real Money Auction House was stupid. I said it would break the game but NOOOOO, you all had to send me to St. Helena to rot with the guy who was shorter than his Imperial Guardsmen.
