Killzone 3

I only played like one level of KZ2 MP recently and I liked the level a lot - felt open and large.

I agree that some of the levels on KZ3 feel shitty and confined, but you start to get used to them - give it a good week of play and I think you'll find yourself enjoying them more.

Atomsk, it was fun playing against you. :P

I had no idea you were there until I got you then I went "Wait a minute... -press select- OH shit. Its on now. :<"

And yeah, sometimes I am running blind for sections and maps that I don't know. Once you know them, however, they are easy enough. Hell, for maps that I do know, sometimes I find new spots that people can get in.

Anyone from the UK playing this online? Not sure if it's worth me picking up.

Can't you still play with us even so?

Even though it seems like the time zones wouldn't sync up much, us US folks have ended up having matches with the UK folks quite often - I think around the middle of the day for us is evening for you.

I think kenshi_ryden is gonna get it in the next week or so, and he's from the UK I believe.

True enough. In that case... anyone from the UK or a jobless American? :D

I'm not jobless, but I do work at home, and I have been known to take day-breaks now and then when possible to get down on some tasty, tasty MP with TAY-ites.

Malicious I believe does the schooling bit, but occasionally has time to MP during the day, though I could be wrong.

Honestly though, I'm just trying to get everyone possible to buy this game so we can have more TAY KZ3 events since I broke down and bought this game in the hope of having a larger KZ3 turnout on here.

The crowd does seem to be slowly growing, though!

I figure I just need to give the levels more time; it's just that KZ2 had far more open areas. Heck, while jetpacks are cool, that level where you're given them feels crowded. Like, it's definitely a large map, but there's so much stuff around you.

Also, I'm noticing that when Warzone becomes uneven (with players), there are some maps where it's possible to have an entire team spawn camp. I believe it's that Snow Drift level, and heck, there was no way around getting past these jerks. To leave the spawn grounds, you either go through a few small camp-things or a tunnel. There's also the Crater level where the Helghast pretty much have to exit out of two giant holes. Once the ISA has the only Spawn Point, it's possible to keep the Helghast at there Spawn camp for a long time.

Yeah Thursday I'm UKside and I'll be getting it soon. I'm not sure if Dean/ Davestrife will get it too, but they're from over here. And Hot Heart. I need to quiz them on their getting KZ3 anyway.

It's truly brutal- my mum gave me £40 the other day. Obviously to help with shopping and keep on top of rent, etc., but I can't stop thinking about how easy that's making it to just get up and go get Killzone 3. But I have two 2000 word essays for a week today that I haven't really started.

OH TELL ME PEOPLE OF TALK AMONGST YOURSELVES. WHAT SHOULD I DO.

After I finish my Zealot run of Severed, I'll get back on Killzone 3. Should only take me an hour at most, considering I might use checkpoints a few times.

As I was on Killzone.com though, I got to wondering, what classes are you guys using/upgrading. I see the majority is Tactician, but it also looks like I may be the only one who has bothered with the Marksman. Truthfully, I think I should have focused a bit on Tactician because I find that some matches require a good one.

Not lying here, but one Operations I was in went terribly. At the end, I found out that it was because at least four of us, out of seven, were Infiltrators. I find that Tacticians and Medics are vital to Operations. Tacticians to claim the few Spawn Points, and Medics to revive others when claiming Territory.

Would it be cheating to use the Move against you guys?

Against us? AGAINST US!?

Dood, we need you to use your cheating Move against the other team.

:D

Since Beta, I instantly went for the Tactician. This is primarily because I have a weakness for SMGs, as the capture abilities were useless in Guerilla Warfare, which is all I was playing in Beta. However, I quickly discovered the superiority of Warzone in the full version, and that capture ability has been really useful.

It's the first class I've maxed out. I still actually use the SMG quite a lot, as I am shit for aiming with the weapons with scopes instead of irons in KZ3 (scoped assault rifle is last weapon unlock for tactician). The radar reveal is damn useful too, particularly for the onscreen X's that show you when an enemy's about to pop around a corner and you're aiming at them with your reticle where they're going to pop up.

The flying bot, I'm a little confused on. I don't really understand what the little two bars are next to the icon - is that signal? It seems like the bot only comes out if you throw it in a really open area, and even then, not always. If someone understands how the tactician's bot works better, I'd love some information, because it's really frustrating.

The second class I've been working on is the marksman, because I love sniping in games, but I'm garbage with it so far.

I play mostly tactician because l love that scan ability. It saved my ass so many times by highlighting flanking enemies and we'll, it helps me flank enemies as well.

I also play the engie a lot because he can hold an area really well. He's a must have for any defensive position. I also just got my medic upgraded so I will start using that as well. Next class I will work on is the marksman because I have been in too many games where my team get pinned down by a squad of marksmen. Its really bad on that jetpack level.

The Sentries (flying bots) are highly improved in Killzone 3. Though, yes, there seems to be a lack of boundaries that were present in Killzone 2.

Sentries can only appear if the beacon is placed in an open area, and of course only a few Sentries on either side can reside in an area. For the most part, it seems that someone forgot to program in how, in the previous game, you couldn't waste those beacons inside. Only until you were outside and there were not too many bots, then you could throw one of your beacons.

That's the other thing, you can have more than one of your Sentries out on the field. Those two little bars are the abilities "ammo," if you will. Two Sentries at most, from a single player. It's kinda a remnant of KZ2 Multi because Proximity Mines use to be a Saboteur ability with those icons as well.

Ah, I see - thanks Atomsk! I didn't play the last KZ, so it's all new to me.

I was guessing the bars were for signal or something, but I'm surprised to learn you can have two at once - I'll have to try that out. It's a shame there isn't a better way to track the status of your bot, as I tend to toss those in an open area and just hope it goes up, more often than not.

I'm looking to be on KZ3 late tonight and/or during the day-ish tomorrow.

I thought it was two sentries per TEAM?

That's probably more of a correct answer, but it's still possible to have two of your Sentries be out on the field.

I'll look it up, but I swear I've seen more on larger maps. Then again, it's probably because more would pop up after the others were destroyed.

Sorry for not playing Operations. That Warzone match was going to be my last, and hey, I was doing awesome! Who got all the Speakers and delivered them?

ME!

So yeah, wasn't going to pass up on major points. Also boosted my K/D ratio, but my last two deaths were pretty cheap. Spawn, explosion (0:02), spawn, explosion (0:04)! Probably the most important thing was that I never have played on that map. Of the two retro maps, I would always end up on the other. Considering it has those mechs, it might be my favorite now.

No problem, we actually didn't play - I had a friend over, so I quit and we played some local co-op, which was actually really fun.

I was getting torn apart on some of those later matches, but I was kind of distracted because I was trying to play while talking to my friend at the same time.

It was awesome playing with three of us though! We'll have to do that again.

We fought with great valor and fortitude. While we lost some battle, we drove the ISA further back than before!

Though, I'm kinda of peeved that we didn't win that really close game. The whole team just fell apart at the end* but man, that one disarm was tense. Six seconds to disarm a bomb while everyone else is fight around me. That sort of round is what I play for. :D

*I was eating cake...
