Mal
Didn't someone on here had some problems with their stock fan a while back? His computer was running but when it played games, it ran unusually hot. Once he replaced it, it was all good. I say get something better than stock so you don't run into problems later. MasterDex
And try to get one with screw or good clamps. Stupid plastic fiddly feckers that most stock fans these days have are terrible.
MetalCaveman
They make V8s compatible with Sandy Bridge now, or the Hyper 212. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103055 The V8 seems like a good option, probably will go with that one. And try to get one with screw or good clamps. Stupid plastic fiddly feckers that most stock fans these days have are terrible. Had to replace the fan for my current PC, the one I bought had a plastic clamp, so I kept the old one. So yeah, for PSU I've been looking at this: CORSAIR Professional Series AX750 750W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139016 Good choice yes/no? I think you know the answer to that one already but just to clarify: yeah, definitely. Modular, high efficiency, relatively cheap price and a strong 7 year warranty? I think you'll be alright. Enervation
Ok guys, new question... can anyone recommend me a new case? I'm pretty sure there aren't any "standard" manufacturers here, but I can't help but feel my computer case is a bit small (in comparison to the parts I put into it). Just curious, what are the dimensions of your cases, TAY'ers?
Mal
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119230 They have a newer version with USB 3.0 now... with black interior. Meeeeeh. At least my mobo is up to speed.
Enervation
It says out of stock. Haha. Other than that though, that case looks very nice. I think at this point any case is better than my current one - it can only maintain a single fan on the roof.
Mal
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160 The newer version.
Enervation
Wow. That's a lot of dosh to drop on that.
Mal
Full towers are quite a bit more expensive. I paid like 140 for my version. If you have any computer hardware store like that of Micro Center, I would recommend a whirl in there to see first hand how the parts look. It was helpful for me to decide a case. MasterDex
The 932 is a great case, definitely worth it's price. Just ask Excel!

staySICK
This is my case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119138&cm_re=cosmos_1000-_-11-119-138-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216&Tpk=cooler%20master%20690%20II%20advanced Here's a cheaper alternative. That is actually a really good case. I used it in a build for my friend, sli 460s and a N20 cooler fit just fine in the case. I was really impressed. good price, good build and features. Really recommend that case, kind of wish I found it before I got my cosmos.
Kovach_
I have it so i'm kinda biased, but it's really good. The only problem i have with it is that i need to take out my GPU (since it's huge) if i want to plug in something sata. Having big hands isn't helping either xD

Enervation
I think I'll get that $90 one. That seems to be the best option I see right now. My computer right now was put together from random parts, so I guess I should have expected that the cooling might not be that great. However, I wasn't particularly aware of the small space inside it. I'll try to take some pictures when I head back to my house this weekend to replace my motherboard. Enervation
Er, anyone have a recommendation for a CPU? Preferably one less than $200, and not anything explicitly labeled with the words "Dual Core" as opposed to something like "Core 2 Duo," as I'm told that "Dual Core" is inferior. staySICK
you say $, so I'm guessing American. what's your location? I'd say the i5 2500K ( ) if you can get it for under $200 (www.microcenter.com), otherwise, going off newegg pricing... the C2D E8400, but seeing as how finding a decent 775 socket mobo is a pita right now, the Phenom II X4 965... if AM3 isn't in the same boat.. I'm not too sure with AMD processors. There's also the i5 650, on the 1156 socket, I wouldn't go Sandy Bridge without a K series cpu. Enervation
Yep, I'm in America. Not so sure about any of the i# series, I heard they can be a little fishy... regardless, my current motherboard is not compatible with the i# series, so I guess we can dismiss it. staySICK
the new core i series are very good systems and a great upgrade option. The only problem is the numerous socket types, which from most 775 systems will cause you need a new mobo+cpu+ram. If you are looking for a total overhaul its a great choice. If there's a microcenter near you they have a i5 2500K + mobo combo for $300, and you can get a decent set of DDR3 dual channel ram for $50 - $80, so under $400 for a Sandy Bridge set up. I'm hoping to have a little extra after paying off medical bills with this loan I'm taking and possibly doing that upgrade myself.
Enervation
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, got my computer back today. Was running fine... until I had to move it. I don't know if something came out or something, but I had my dad (who's done this before, used to do it as a profession) check it out. Now it won't even turn on anymore, and this fucking computer is starting to become WAY more trouble than it's worth. It's times like these where I can honestly see why the fuck people buy Macs. Enervation
It's times like these where I can honestly see why the fuck people buy Macs. Because if it fucks up you'll have to crack open a sealed case? At least it works. The advantage of having a sealed case is that no one can get inside it and fuck it up. Apparently one of the cables inside my PC, the one linking the power button to the motherboard, is now frayed, which is the reason why it won't turn on (which is a problem totally unrelated to the fact that my PC does not seem to be getting power... at all) which means I'll have to either bust more money for a new power supply (since the cable is hardwired into it) or bust more money to find someone who can fix it. I really doubt there's people out there who do repairs to wires this small, but I guess it's worth a shot.
Yantelope
I'd really go for a quad core. We're starting to see games that really need 4 cores and I think that's going to continue in the next few years. I'd also pick up an aftermarket cooler. After running over 70C at idle I've learned my lesson about stock coolers.
Enervation
I've considered quad core before, but I'd really rather not get it if I don't have to.
