I think they ran out of buttons to use. If I remember correctly, waiting was done with the back/select button on consoles for Fallout 3. In Fallout 4 that button is for switching the camera modes. The ps4 controller technically has enough buttons to make up for it since the touchpad counts as multiple inputs, but I don't think the Xbone controller does. I don't remember what new mechanic was added that needed a button. I think either sprinting or gun bashing.

Once again the Xbone is holding the PS4 and PC back!!!

Really what they should have done was eliminate 3rd person because anyone who plays a Bethesda game in 3rd person is the worst. That would have freed up a button for wait.

I have to say *knock on wood* that this is the most bug free Bethesda game I've ever played. Maybe I've just been lucky so far, but I don't think I've really experienced any glitches so far. Even Ass Creed Syndicate crashed on me and had a little bit of weirdness. After the trauma that was Skyrim on PS3, this is good news.

Only "game breaking" bugs I've had are a couple of CTDs, which over a now 28hr play span isn't too bad. Other than that just issues with the brahamin in Sanctuary getting on the roof. And once Piper did too then be all "I can't go there" when I tried to get her to walk to me so I could take my loot off her, had to fast travel somewhere. (In fact it not showing up companions on the map is annoying as hell. In fact it does it the same with enemies too, it's only when they see you that they show up in the compass making stealth attacks much harder since you'll just sneak right around a corner into them). No point raising your Perception if you're still tied to physically having to be able to hear Raiders, or see them in a swathe of brown wood, or heck one time I had a floodlight pointed down the corridor I came up so could hardly make out anything).

But yeah, *touch wood* pretty bug free.

What factions has everyone joined?

I've joined the Railroad, Minutemen, and Brohood, though I'm guessing I will be kicked out of either the Brohood or Railroad at some point because they have incompatible beliefs.

I like that the Brohood is back to being a sort of racist and fascist paramilitary organization, although I don't like how much their lingo seems to borrow from Warhammer 40k Space Marine racism.

Ethan:

I suppose that's in line with your "I will join the faction with the coolest airship" philosophy, since there's no airship at the police station with Brohood. But, FYI, you can join the Brohood and still keep your options open, despite how Danse makes it sound.

Jack:

The FO4 Brohood is in line with the original Brohood from the old games. The portrayal of the Brohood in FO3 very different from how they were in the original Fallout games. They're fascists who hoard technology because regular people cannot be trusted while espousing vaguely fantasy knight-like ideals. Beth wrote them to be good guys, but they were not really good guys in the first two games, though they would certainly help you kill supermutants and other baddies.

I don't remember if they were racist against ghouls and such in the original games, but their hatred of synths makes complete sense

Bacon:

It was an honor serving on a vessel with such a storied history and blasting the scavengers to kingdom come with well-times broadsides. Huzzah!

I've only joined Minutemen so far as I remember BoS not being the most upstanding of factions. Already did the first initial quest and said Maybe to the invitation.

I'm only 8 hours in and I have Piper as my companion. For the first hour I didn't realize she technically had a second outfit. As we were exploring I would give her whatever decent armor came our way until I noticed her "reporter" outfit and "roader" outfit under it.

I'm pretty observant, but I also didn't realize you could scroll down in the Perks List and select the grayed out perks as the top row indicates how far down the list you can go. First eight levels I was just adding to the top row...

So joining up with the Brohood doesn't prevent me from joining up with the Institute or Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or anyone else later? Can I later leave the Brohood if I decide I'm not picking up what they're putting down?

I've encountered my first major, game breaking bug.

Preston won't join me as a companion. I could recruit him before, but now when I talk to him it doesn't open the dialogue tree anymore. This is a real problem because I want to earn his unique perk but I can't do that if he won't join me.

I've got mine too, but let me NOT spoiler tag this as it's a pain in the ass.

The mission Confidence Man, where you help out Travis (Diamond City DJ), is super bugged. There's a bar fight where your character and the two opponents are set at Essential. Problem is is that after that bar fight you and the two NPCs retain that Essential status. You can not die and when you have to kill them later, THEY WILL NOT DIE! You may be invincible and have a second companion for the rest of the game, but it's not that fun. Bethesda is already looking into it, but even with all the user fixes, there's still the issue where the player is marked as Essential.

I'm on PC so I have quite the number of saves before the issue, but I wanted anyone on console to know of this issue. You might have a save before the bar fight, or you might not. Trust me, Travis is not an enjoyable companion. EDIT: You fall down like your companions when you're about to run out of health. Players have remarked how that can glitch the rest of the game, i.e. screwy camera angles and model clipping.

He's definitely designed for that one mission and then done. Was reading a post online about how Travis doesn't sneak, not to mention you can't trade with him. He's just an extra 10mm Pistol.

Speaking of, is there a definite way of having your companion use a weapon you give them? I know you can have them equip it, but after some time they go back to their default.

I've noticed the weapon thing too. I'm feeling you might need to give them ammo too maybe? But if so that'll be balls. I know in older games they'd only equip certain styles of weapons. Might be a bug, or might be a feature. Housemate has the guide, I'll ask him tonight if it mentions anything.
