Mr. GOH!
The Brotherhood had airships in earlier FO games (Tactics). The majority of the Brotherhood is also more rabidly into hoarding tech (because the War showed that most people should not be trusted with high tech) rather than being the post-apocalyptic equivalent of a DnD order of paladins out to right wrongs and battle injustice, as they appeared to be in FO3. it makes sense that the Brotherhood would want to find the Institute and destroy it and the synths. deanb
Reddit user with an early copy is going through names that do n don't work: https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3rxqpv/codsworth_name_test_with_proof/cws9ppf  You can be Rick, but not Morty. Which is about right  Character creator is pretty cool:   Since been chatting with housemates what are plot theories? Mine are:  - you're a synth, dun dun dun! - You've been put in one of the pods, though we discussed and I talked myself out of this one since they're shown to be pretty high-end military grade stuff and I doubt they'd put random people in. But could mean you're also kinda young so the 2077 stuff is just in-simulation memories Matrix style than real life. But not sure what benefit that would have to Vault-Tec. - You've been in regular olde cryostasis  So any of yours?
Mr. GOH!
My theory, informed by the spoilery International business times review that was up briefly today, though the spoilers relate only to the main thrust of the quest (it would be like spoiling FO3 by saying it's about finding your missing father, or New Vegas by saying it's about finding out who shot you in the head and why): Â Â Â Â Last chance to stop reading; I will incorporate the spoiler into my theories.1. You are real but your missing child is a synth or vice versa.2. Your real child is being used by the Institute to make better synths and/or is being turned into a synth.3. You are a synth created by the Institute to be a father for a real boy who was cryogenically frozenand who has some sort of special property essential to a mjaor Institute program (could just be that he was born pre-apocalypse or pre-FEV rather the kid being some special Chosen One).4. You and the kid are real humans and the kid has been abducted by a faction other than the Institute and is either being held hostage or used to frame the Institute for the abduction so the PC will use some special skill or knowledge to take on the Institute for the abducting faction (hopefully the Brohood. Â Â Non-spoilery theory: The Brohood faction in FO4 is a splinter faction of the Midwestern Brohood and not the Capital Wasteland Brohood. Alt theory: there are two Brohood factions, one from the Midwest/West and another from the Capital Wasteland and they are at odds with each other. My guess would be the Capital Wasteland Brohood will be minor compared to the other Brohood faction. Edited November 8, 2015 by Mr. GOH! TheMightyEthan
I didn't read the reviews itself but a lot of people were saying it was pretty negative, though in my experience people shouldn't really trust anything the IBTimes says. Mr. GOH!
It was kinda dumb more than negative. It sounds like he wouldn't have liked any previous Fallout game because he thought the early game was too difficult and that there was not much motivation for the PC to do anything in the early game. You could say that for any Bethesda open-world game if you don't like the heavy emphasis on exploration and shenanigans that makes Bethesda games Bethesda games. It'd be like saying Forza is a bad game because racing is a pointless activity. It's a valid opinion, but it's not a useful review. deanb
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2015/11/06/the-making-of-fallout-4.aspx  Alright read. Multi-page article but fine enough length. Fallout 4 was developed on top of Skyrim, which means there's a build of Skyrim that runs on Xbox One. Destiny was their target mark for gun feel too, I imagine they won't hit it but I'll let you guys that have give an indicator of how well they've done. Given the launch trailer and how they're talking of developing story while they don't mention it I've a feeling they did draw upon New Vegas a fair bit in picking factions. Kinda weird New Vegas gets no nods at all, despite being formative for some elements of their game. I guess a soured relationship between the two?  Kinda cool that the settlement computers would originally run Python.  The more I see of it the more I'm loving that power armour. I normally don't bother with the heavy stuff, but in the old games it stretched and morphed where metal composite plates shouldn't. Bit like wool chainmail. Baconrath
I feel like New Vegas didn't really handle BoS very well because    - 3 out of the 4 endings required you to blow them up - after convincing them to lift the lockdown, Vironica's quest requires you to conivince them again - that part where you exit the bunker only to be met with some angry paladins and a high speech check    Yeah, they weren't exactly the focus of New Vegas..but these always bothered me. Especially that second one. It'll be better in Fallout 4 for sure.
TheMightyEthan
Alright, PS4 version it is. Â I had expected that to be the case, but thought there was a slight possibility it might pull a Unity and perform better on Xbone, especially since that was the lead console (I know PC was the lead platform overall). Â Now to decide whether I want it on disc or should just get the digital version...
TheMightyEthan
Dean posted this on Twitter, so I'm bringing it here: Â official Spotify playlist of the game's radio soundtrack. deanb
It's only a handful, I imagine someone will make a fuller playlist in time. Was just looking for something to while away a bit of the time.  And I guess your platform choice is based on reports that the Xbone edition hits a whopping 0fps at times?
TheMightyEthan
That, and even putting that aside PS4 has a few fps advantage even when they're both dropping. Â To be fair, the 0 fps thing looks more like a loading issue than the type of performance issue that typically causes dropped frames. Â At certain points when it's loading new assets in it freezes for a short time, but it's not an ongoing thing. Â *Edit - "Handful"? Â There's 100 songs in the playlist... Mr. GOH!
It ran buttery smooth on my PC on ultra when I ran through the first 45 minutes this morning. Had to go to work, so no more playing until later tonight.
TheMightyEthan
HOW DID YOU GET IT EARLY?!
Mr. GOH!
PC users can use a VPN to unlock steam games early. Essentially, my IP address is from Australia for today because it unlocked there at 8am EST. Â Valve doesn't do anything to folks who unlock early this way, but they will ban your account if you use a VPN to buy a game from a cheaper foreign store. Â But now I have a long day, the gym, then chores at home. I won;t be able to play again until at least 10 EST. Â But, so far, it's definitely a Fallout game and I like it.
deanb
It shows as 6 songs for me, only a meagre 16 minutes worth. I imagine a rights issue there? Â I'd have used a VPN so I could play this afternoon, but only just been shipped out by Amazon 10 minutes ago so doubt I'll be getting it today

deanb
I got Fallout 4 and GotG for a total of £22 so I'm happy (even if my GotG case was a bit cracked, but hey got a £3 refund)

TCP
Wait the PlayStation version of a Bethesda game is better than the Xbox version? What a time to be alive.
TheMightyEthan
To be fair, I'm pretty sure AC: Unity is literally the only multiplatform game where Xbone has an advantage over PS4. Â For everything else either they're exactly the same or PS4 is better. Â *Edit - With the exception of the weird thing where Xbone games have better AF than PS4 games, although with Fallout it appears they have the exact same level of AF. Mr. GOH!
Apparently a shitty budget PC plays FO4 better than either console. Â http://www.geek.com/games/a-budget-gaming-pc-plays-fallout-4-better-than-consoles-1638999/

Skyrim was especially crappy. It's to be expected this gen that the PS4 version would be best, but as someone who platinumed Skyrim on PS3, it's still awesome to hear.

TheMightyEthan
Graphical comparison between the three platforms: Â Â Basically the only difference is the framerate (duh, PC isn't limited to 30) and the shadows, which have a way longer draw distance on PC. Â Everything else is basically identical, although admittedly the shadows make a huge difference on long-distance views.
