deanb
How is this such a common occurrence.
Mal
It's an easy crime that most police do not even bother with. With that said, these harmless traps should be more of a thing. I personally would use spray paint laced or like paint like those anti-theft tags on clothing in a disposable trap.
Mal
This is ridiculous. I love this.
TheMightyEthan
@deanb I just heard on the radio the other day that it's enough of a problem that Amazon is conducting sting operations with local police using fake packages with GPS trackers in areas where it's common. The shortest time so far between delivery and theft was 30 seconds. @Mal That's awesome. My guess is they hooked the fork up to a handheld drill. Mister Jack
Sometimes I feel like Sonic could probably be a great franchise again if they just took it away from Sonic Team.
Mister Jack
A bunch of artists got together to remake Steamboat Willie. It was shown back in August at a convention but this is the first time I've seen it floating around. I don't know why the video is 22 minutes long but the actual short is only around six minutes long.

deanb
That's a lot of craftsmanship for candy floss. Video description says it's 50rmb or ~$8. 1

deanb
I'll be honest given where they found them, I'm not super sure it was a huge mystery but does explain why not in private collections (well...sort of) or museums (well sort of). 2
Mal
This is a bit weird to watch. I mean, if a camera is small enough, it should be able to capture most of this stuff but it seems like bullshit.

MetalCaveman
YT Version: The book one is the one that looks kinda BS to me, but after watching MKBHD's vid on the lens, I believe it may be achievable by filming it in reverse using the lens light thingy and then editing a bit to improve colour and details. Don't listen to me though, I know nothing about video/photography.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, the book was definitely computer animated, so I'm guessing the rest were too, or at least some of them.
deanb
The lens is a real thing and the objects are real. The 'shooting' stuff is some digital effects yes cos that's literally not how cameras 'shoot'
TheMightyEthan
Well obviously that's not how cameras "shoot". Up until the book though I thought the zooming in parts could plausibly be some kind of crazy zoom in effect, rather than actually sticking the lens inside the object, but when it goes between the pages of the book it looks obviously computer animated. Obviously that shot couldn't be gotten by zooming, and it doesn't even look like they were physically shoving the lens in there either. MetalCaveman
When it works, it's really cool, and the details behind it are interesting, when it doesn't work... It's something fun to try, and maybe show it to other people, see how it goes. Spoiler I picked the Ace, can't pick anything else when there's an Ace in play.

Mal
It's finally done! If you are in anyway a fan of 40K then you should know of this fan series. Park 1-4 are rather grounded and shows the might of the space marines. Part 5... well, there's Inquisitors. I cannot wait to see this continue. It does Warhammer 40K justice that even Games Workshop cannot do. And yeah, quite the contrast to my previous post... deanb
I have a vague idea on how this works. And that vague idea is "like a theremin and abusing the fact CRTs are electronically noisy"
